Short motivational/advice monologue critiquing the ‘be the bigger person’ trope: the speaker argues that repeatedly tolerating toxic or abusive behavior lets wrongdoers avoid accountability. Uses examples (abuse, unpaid debts, cheating, lying, bullying) and urges listeners to set boundaries, advocate for themselves, and stop second‑guessing when they’ve had enough.

Hear me out on this. People who make bad decisions or operate from a place of negativity or toxicity will always expect you to be the bigger person, so they don't need to take accountability for their actions or behaviors. When you break it down in this way, it makes so much sense and applies to so many different situations. Abusers of all kinds, whether it's physical, verbal, emotional, sexual, and so on and so forth. Be someone that you lend money to that is never paying you back. Cheaters, liars, bullies who say hateful or hurtful things. People are constantly the bigger person who is tolerant and doesn't stand up to that behavior. You are letting them know that they don't need to take accountability for their actions, decisions and behaviors and they don't need to face any consequences. So this is your reminder to stop second guessing yourself when you've had enough. And when it comes to advocating for your rights, your beliefs, your actions, or the rights, beliefs and actions of the people that you care about, unless they are aware and willing to make a change, the person in the wrong is always going to bank on you being the bigger person so they don't need to take accountability for themselves. Who else can you think of that this would apply to today?
