To caveat off of a previous video I did about what to say when you're not drinking, there's what to say when someone tells you they're not drinking and some suggestions for how to react. Keep it casual, non judgmental and let people be. If you're getting the round for whatever reason, you can say, okay, sounds good, what would you like? Instead? The person gives you a reason and it doesn't sound like it's too personal, you might be able to ask a potential follow up question about it. So for example, if someone says I have a workout class in the morning, I'm not drinking tonight, don't make it about the not drinking and ask about the workout class instead. Obviously when you know someone on a very close or intimate level, it easier to put more pressure on them or at least ask more questions. If not drinking is not part of their usual behavior, do your best to resist the urge and not make it a thing for the people you don't know too well. Let them give you more information. Not that that's necessary, but some people disclose more than others and even then tread lightly with the questions. Do not need to be that person who's asking someone a zillion questions and making them feel uncomfortable. People remember how others make them feel, so make them feel welcome regardless of what their personal choices are. The non drinker on the other end will appreciate it. I promise you.
