What to say when you simply can't afford it. I have three suggestions for you that Keep it short Sweet, unapologetic, yet warm. Option one I really want to be a part of this, but it's not in my budget right now. I would love to celebrate you in another way. How about this idea? Option 2 if you feel comfortable sharing, start it off with a short financial goal so you're coming from a place of abundance versus lack. So for example, I'm trying to save more money this year or I'm trying to pay off some debts this year, so I'll have to pass on this. But thanks so much for including me and I hope you have a great time. It's honest, it's authentic, it shows gratitude for the invitation and it ended on a high note. And Option three I can join for part of the night or part of the trip, or can contribute in this way if that might work. Vocalizing an alternative shows that even though you're setting a boundary, you are still staying flexible and open. A boundary doesn't have to be a wall. Think of it like a gate. Just make sure it's an alternative that you feel comfortable with and can actually commit to. I'll be sharing some things not to say to the other party when you can't afford to participate in a future video. So stay tuned and follow for more communication tips and and scripts. I'm well with Raelle, your communication coach, and as always I hope this was helpful.
