Eyes a bit strained looking at that spreadsheet or web browser? Spreadsheet Browser Zoom View Tips

Three ways to make spreadsheets and web pages easier to read: use Excel's zoom slider, press Win + + for Windows Magnifier, or use Ctrl + / Ctrl – in your browser. The zoom slider works inconsistently across Office apps, but Magnifier works system-wide.

All right, hi everybody. Yeah, I'm making videos 2 days in a row. Uh, once again, I got another question from one of the people that I've done work with in the past, uh, about being able to see that spreadsheet when it's too small to see. And then he asked how to do it. I said, well, heck, if I'm gonna answer the question by email, why not make a YouTube video and share it with a bunch more people? I'm pretty sure this is a common problem for a lot of people. Uh, let's take a look. You ever got a spreadsheet like that and your eyes are getting a little bit aged? My older eyes, that's small. If you're curious, that's all the places I drove in 2019 for my business. Um, but watch this, there's two options that you have here which are sort of cool. Right down here on the bottom you have this little toggle bar, it's the zoom bar, and watch what you can do. You can quickly move this around. Now this little toggle bar is available in some of the other, uh, Microsoft Word and Excel, um, tools, uh, but it doesn't— it's a little inconsistent on which ones it will work on. I noticed that it does seem to work in active open spreadsheets very easily, which is very nice, and that just allows you to make it a much easier view, uh, when you're trying to take a look at this. Um, the second option that I want to share, a lot of people don't realize is available out there, is it's actually a keystroke combo, and this does work in multiple other functions. It's called Windows Now, when you hit Windows +, I just click the little Windows icon and the plus key, what it'll do is bring up this item right here. And as you can take a look, it's called the magnifier. And so now I'm at, you know, 200%. Now, the weird thing about this is it's sort of hard to actually do editing and data, but it sure makes it easier to read, although I disappeared for a second. And then if you want, you can click back down to the normal size and you can see this. Like I showed you, let me show you something here. I'm going to close it here in my Excel, but now let's jump over to the PowerPoint. Let's go to my video cover for this presentation, and let me show you something here. I can do Windows here also, and it will bring it back up. Now I can actually zoom it up, zoom it down, and make it work so that it's a little easier for me to see. Once again, here's that little toggle button. I'm going to close this first to see. And notice in this case, well, it is working that time. Sometimes it doesn't work. It's a little inconsistent. But if that's not working, remember that you can do the Windows+. I got one little thing I want to try here real quick. I'm going to pop out to my Gmail and do the Windows+ right now. Let's check something. I think I thought this would work. Yeah. See, you can even make your browser screen bigger if you want. You know, good for those tired eyes and very small script. You know, and just remember to put it back to normal size when you get back to where you're at. So hopefully this flashy little super quick tip can help you a little bit here. Never forget that you can also just do a really simple— when you're in your browser especially, let's see, Ctrl+ that makes your screen bigger. You can also do a Ctrl-. To make your screen smaller. That's a browser tip. So play around with all these. Hopefully that gives you some help for those not so great eyes anymore. All right, and with that, I am going to end this video. Uh, but first I want to of course tell you, if you like the video, please consider, um, you know, hitting like, hitting subscribe. And, um, if you'd like to find out more about what I do, go out to my website randalldean.com.
