This is a YouTube video titled "Two Meetings to Make Your Teams and Meetings Work Better" (published 2019-06-26). It is a short tip-style presentation delivered by a single speaker ([SPEAKER A]) offering management advice: recommend establishing two standard meetings when teams begin working together — one to set shared rules for using communication tools (email, text, phone/voicemail, meetings, teleconferences) and another to discuss how to run better meetings (preparation, participation, courtesy, and follow-up).

video tip today. One of the things I've been talking about in my recent programs is the need for many organizations, workgroups, and teams to seriously consider having two standard meetings right as the program teams or project teams or departments start all working together. Meeting number one: How do you use the different communication tools at your disposal and when? And what I'm talking about is when should you send an email, when should you send a text, when should you send a phone call or make a voicemail, when should you call a meeting, and and when should you do a teleconference. And make sure people are on the same page on this, because if you have people having different rules about how to use these different tools, you're gonna start having communication problems clearly. And the example I like to give is just imagine if you had one person on your team that basically sees email as instant messenger, another person who only checks their email 4 times a day, and the first person sends the second person a critical urgent communication. That could cause a problem. The second one that I would recommend you seriously consider is maybe having a meeting about how to run better meetings. I've actually been doing a new program on managing and leading better staff and team meetings. Actually been leading it for a few years, but I've added some stuff recently, and one of the discussion points that I have in that program is maybe one of the best things you can absolutely do is just consider having a meeting where you talk about how to make your meetings run better, how to make sure people show up prepared, how to make sure people are participating appropriately and courteously, how to make sure that you follow up appropriately from meetings. And I think just having that opportunity to get people together in a room and talk about what you're trying to accomplish when you're holding meetings with your team and how to make that time work better for everyone involved is a really good idea to consider. So think about both of these ideas and add those in maybe as agenda items for one of your upcoming group, team, project, or department meetings. Hope you have a wonderful Independence Day holiday coming up. Thanks everyone, bye now.
