New Screen & Tab Management Widget in Microsoft Outlook Local Client Version (formerly Outlook 2016)

Randy Dean shows a new widget in Outlook's desktop client that lets you hide or show the ribbon and tabs. Three options: Auto Hide Ribbon, Show Tabs, or Show Tabs and Commands. He prefers the full view but notes users can customize based on what works for them.

Hi everybody, Randy Dean here, the Email Sanity Expert. I was just noticing on my screen the other day they've added a cool little widget to the front screen of the Microsoft Outlook local client. I just want to share this real quick little video tip for you because some of you may find this super handy. I'm going to pop out and like I said, I'm not even sure how long it's been sitting out there. I just happened to notice it the other day when I was playing around. Let me show you where this thing is. It's right up here. This little widget right here, this little box. Now watch what happens if you click on this little thing. If you click on it, it'll open up and then you can hit Auto Hide Ribbon. Now watch this. You hit Auto Hide, then you don't have a ribbon at all. But if you come up to the top and you click, then your ribbon comes back. Okay, so that's pretty cool. Hold on, there's a second option. Click on this thing, come down here and hit Show Tabs. Now instead, now you've got a fairly clean top of your screen, but you can actually get into your tabs and open up and see all of your commands. Some of you might like that nice clean look. So that's pretty cool. But then there's the third option. Come up here, hit Show Tabs and Commands. Now this is where I usually leave it because I like having all my bells and whistles really close and easy, and I don't like to do these extra clicks. But I can certainly see how you could play around with this and change the way your screen's looking if you so choose. So that you can have it the way you sort of like it. So I just wanted to show you. I just think that's a cool little widget they've added in. And you got to sort of watch your screen because you never know when they're going to throw something on here that's new and different. And when you see these, if you see them, let me know too, because I like to dive in and find out what these things can do so they can help you basically just get a little bit more productivity and maybe a little bit of more organization when you're utilizing your Microsoft Outlook tool. So like I said, very quick and easy. I'm going to do a Shift Fn F5 right here, which takes you right into presentation mode when you have your PowerPoint open. And I'm gonna say thank you for your time tonight. Hope you found this cool little new widget handy, all of my Outlook local client users.
