remember to take care of yourself

In this informal family livestream titled "Winey Palooza Wednesday," Rebecca Greene hosts a casual conversation with her husband Seth, daughter Ella, and their children Max and Lily. The broadcast weaves together a day‑in‑the‑life snapshot of homeschooling, household chores, and pandemic‑era challenges, highlighting how their days blur together while juggling virtual schooling, meal preparation, and pet care. Rebecca reflects on feeling increasingly cranky and smothered from constant family proximity, prompting a discussion about the importance of self‑care for parents and teachers during COVID‑19. She acknowledges Teacher Appreciation Week, praises educators’ efforts, and encourages viewers to share their own self‑care practices. The segment also announces Max’s upcoming bar mitzvah rehearsal and the live‑streamed ceremony, providing logistical details (date, time, Zoom link) and asking for prayers for a smooth technical experience. Throughout, the tone remains conversational, humorous, and supportive, aiming to connect with an online audience and foster a sense of community around mutual struggles and self‑care.

Hello everybody, welcome to Winey Palooza Wednesday. Ella, bring us in.
No need to whine, it's Winey Palooza Wednesday. Have some wine and join us on Winey Palooza Wednesday with the Green Family.
Woohoo! Thank you, baby. Transformers! What?
I transformed from Ella to me.
Okay, we're transforming from Ella to Seth to me. Can we see both of us?
I am not— I'm not super close.
Oh my God, stop! I, I planned on doing this at 9 o'clock and it is now 10:15. This is how my days are going. Are you with me? Are your days flying by? Are you bored? Are you with me or are you bored? My days are meshing together. I again am impressed that I remembered it was Wednesday and blurring together and going by faster than I can imagine. In the midst of my days going by very quickly, I am waiting on my family all day. Are you shocked? I, um, live in this magical full house of people.
You asked for it.
Of these little people, and they're like, I'm hungry, are you gonna give me breakfast? And then I give them breakfast, and then I'm like, Lily, it's time to do your schoolwork. And we do our schoolwork, and then I do our schoolwork. I, I, okay, um, Seth may have done a better job with math than I did today, but he has to work. So Lily has to suffer with my math teaching skills. Okay. I'm doing— I'm not— Okay. I'm not doing as well as her teacher does, but I'm doing my best. I'm sure we are all doing our best. It is Teacher Appreciation Week next week. And I love, love, love, love, love all the teachers and miss them all so much. And I also think that I'm going to appreciate myself a little bit. Oh my God.
That's awesome. Homeschool administrator appreciation day.
I think that I get a little bit of teacher appreciation this year, but the teachers are doing so much work. I totally acknowledge that. I am not doing any of these lessons plan— lesson plans. I'm just executing them with Lily. From her teacher and his team are making amazing lesson plans. Ella and Max have amazing lesson plans. I'm not doing any of that part. The Zooming, the on-call services, I shouldn't even be teasing that I'm patting myself on the back. But I digress. I digress. So we did, so we do Lily's school, we do breakfast, we do Lily's schoolwork. And then they say, are you gonna give us lunch? And I'm like, didn't I just clean up from breakfast? And we do lunch, and then my dog is like, when, when are you gonna walk me? And then I walk the dog, and then Max comes down the stairs, when is dinner?
Well, first you have to do some more Lily's schoolwork.
Oh, so anyways, that's my days, and they're flying by, and before I know it, it's 10 o'clock at night. And I realized that I never got on to talk to you about my blog. So my blog that I posted today was remember to take care of yourself because in this crazy, crazy world that we are living in right now, we are entrenched in working at home, taking care of children, taking care of pets, and we, we parents forget about ourselves. And I realized that every day I was getting crankier and crankier. Would you agree?
No, you're not cranky at all, honey.
Never ever ever am I cranky. And as I was getting crankier, I was upset with myself. I was like, where is like the happiness? Why am I feeling like this? Am I depressed? Is it that I'm stuck home? Like, what is going on with me? And then Seth is like, what is wrong with you? And I'm like, I feel smothered.
I phrased it better than that.
Okay, what did you say to me?
I did not say what is wrong with you.
What did you say to me? What nice thing did you say to me?
I might have asked what was going on with you that was causing you to act a certain way.
So we were walking our dog together and he says, can you fill me in on What is going on with you? And I didn't really know what was going on with me, but when he asked me the question, I said, I feel smothered. I love my family. I love my husband. I love my children and my pets. But I am always with them. Wasn't taking any alone time, and I was starting to feel it. So at least I identified the problem, and I know I'm not the only one feeling like this. My girlfriend told— teachers are working insane hours right now, and in the midst of them working more and trying to figure out this whole homeschooling thing— no, online— what is this? What is this?
Virtual school.
Quarantine schooling.
Quarantine schooling.
They are also— they also have their kids home. And not only do they have their kids home, but they are finding themselves working around the clocks trying to teach their kids, trying to teach their students. And I know they're not taking any time for themselves. So I hope that I hope that they will, especially next week as they appreciate themselves and as hopefully their students appreciate them. And I'm loving your posts. Everybody, please, please keep posting. I'm watching and enjoying and feeling connected to you and getting ideas. I see my friends jogging. I commend you. I see them gardening. I see them taking beauty time for themselves at home. Manicures, pedicures, face masks.
Um, beauty time. I'm doing my hair.
I'm so distracted by Seth. Um, Seth, I cut— no, I didn't cut, clipped, buzzed, buzzed. I did some trimming, some buzzy clipper trimming. I attempted to buzz Max and Seth's hair. I have a lot of work to do. I didn't do the best job, but you— oh, you look handsome. You always look handsome. So anyways, my blog was about me getting lost in my family again. This is my pattern. I get lost in my family and I forget about myself and I get super cranky. So I am consciously— not only am I consciously trying to eat better, I'm trying to just stay conscious. What do I need? I need healthy food. I need time for myself. I need to remember to take care of myself because if I don't take care of myself, I I can't be good to my family or myself. So that was the whole basic premise of the blog this week. So I hope you will read it. I hope you will tell me what you are doing to take care of yourself because that will help me. And I cannot leave without telling you guys that we just had Max's rehearsal for his bar mitzvah on Saturday. And I am emotionally blown away. I cannot believe what he learned. So impressed, so proud, and did you feel the same way?
Yes, I was, I was, after we solved all the technical difficulties, I was very impressed with Max.
So this is what rehearsals are for, to solve problems and He got rid of some bugs today, technically, on the technical side.
Yes, yes.
Hopefully it will go smoothly. If you are watching this and you are coming on on Saturday, it is not to the bar mitzvah. The bar mitzvah is Saturday morning. Am I sharing this? Sure. Saturday morning at 10:30. It will be live on Facebook, and I posted the Zoom link. And please don't expect perfection. We're doing this online. Hopefully you can hear. Hopefully there won't be crackling. There won't be glitches. Say some prayers that this goes smoothly for us, please. Woo! I hope that you will join us and enjoy it. And thank you for watching tonight and have a fabulous week. Um, I don't know where Ella is. Do you know how to take us out?
I can do it. Oh, there she is.
We're waiting, we're waiting for the singer.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Thank you for watching Winey Palooza Wednesday with the Green Family.
Goodbye everybody, thanks for watching.
