Whinypaluza Never Give Up On Yourself

This content was created by Rebecca Greene. This content was uploaded by Rebecca Greene. This is a YouTube family livestream titled "Whinypaluza Never Give Up On Yourself" (created 2020-08-13) featuring Rebecca Greene as the host. The transcript is an informal, diarized conversation with multiple speakers — primarily Rebecca Greene, her husband Seth Greene, their children (Lily/Eliza) and another participant labeled "Speaker B" — with viewer greetings interspersed. Topics include reactions to a local school district community forum and schooling options, parenting and a moms' group, Rebecca's personal weight-loss journey and goal-setting strategies (journaling, recommended books like The Traveler's Gift and Fast, Feast, and Repeat), intermittent fasting, sponsor mentions, and an uplifting "never give up on yourself" message. The tone is candid, supportive, and family-oriented.

Hello. Happy Winey Palooza Wednesday. Alabella.
No need to whine, it's Winey Palooza Wednesday. Have some wine and join us on Winey Palooza Wednesday with the Green Family.
Oh my God, Lily's falling all over. My kids should be in bed. And I'm late, but—
Why were you late, honey?
I'm gonna tell you.
I— how come I'm having trouble with this today? Help me out, Seth. Trying to get Seth in. Okay, let's see if we can get Seth in.
I'll come sit.
You'll come sit with me?
So you know you're slanted.
I don't know how to unslant, honey. Why don't you get up and fix it? I'm not the tech master in the family. So I am late. Lil, you just have to be quiet because you're very distracting. Lily should be in bed. She has camp in the morning, but we just finished watching the Williamsville Community Forum. Our school— hi Karen, hi everybody, thank you for joining us. If you were just watching the community forum with me, you have my condolences. You are going like this. Right, right. Where's your drink? Show them your drink. Get a drink and join us.
I need it. You need a drink. I feel bad for the poor school people, school superintendent, man.
So I totally—
yeah, I don't want his job, that's for sure. I'll shut up.
Have you ever— I'm trying to stay— I was so— I was feeling so— hi, Linda. I was feeling so negative. So for those of you who don't know, Our school district had their board meeting last night, and then today they had a community forum where parents could come with questions and criticize them, and the parents were pissed and on fire. And I, I understand. I understand why everyone is upset. It is just going to be that kind of year.
There's no right answer.
That, um, I guess my mindset is that I need to— you hear me say low expectations all the time. That I need to just have low expectations. I need to be reasonable. I need to understand that everyone's doing their best. It might not be the plan that you wanted the school to come up with. Karen says she absolutely agrees. They were sitting in the firing range.
Yes, they're just taking shots all night long and they can't fight back. And they're going to do it like every night, I think they said. That's crazy. You couldn't pay me enough.
So next week— so this week was the general community forum. So next week they're set Scott doesn't know this, I'm telling him now. There is a night for elementary school, there's a night for middle school, and there's a night for high school. And you can ask your questions. And so our school district is offering an option. You can do 100% virtual, you do not have to send your kids to school, or you can send your kids 2 days to school as a hybrid. My kids are in the beginning of the alphabet, so they'll be Monday and Tuesday, and then they'll be home with me on Wednesday through Friday, which is a total sh-show. I'm trying not to swear on my live videos. For parents who need to go to work, which is one of the big problems that they were venting about. And the other issue is that what I'm finding all over social media is you have half of the parents wanting to send their kids, half of the parents wanting to keep them home. You're having half of the teachers wanting to go back to teaching, half of the teachers don't wanna go back to teaching.
I guess, and half of all statistics are made up on the spot.
My heart goes out to all of us. We will get through this year. Let us all just stay healthy. My prayers to all of us, let us all stay healthy and well, and let us all have strength to get through this unprecedented year.
Amen.
So I'm— I am trying to— I was in such a negative state that I had to take a few minutes to regroup before I got onto my live. And I wanted to actually do my topic, and I know that we have so much school tension right now, and I will definitely focus on that too because I have had parents ask me to do that.
You had a mom's group the other night.
Oh yes, thank you for reminding me. You know, in the, in the world of parenthood, you will all understand when I say this, Monday night feels like a lifetime ago, and I can't even begin to tell you what I have done since Monday night, which you all understand.
It's a long list.
And, um, yeah, so I, I did, uh, my mommy group on Monday night like I told you I was gonna do, and I want to thank all the moms who joined me. And, um, it was nice to— I think that the consensus among the moms is that They were just so happy to talk to other moms and to be with other people. And I think that a lot of people, a lot of people are just with their family. They're working at home, they're with their family, they're going crazy, they need to talk to other people. So I think all in all it was a success, right?
Yeah, people, I'm sure they got some good coping skills and suggestions.
I, I think that, um, it was just a good way to get moms together. I definitely cannot do it every Monday. I actually have some fun birthday friend plans on Monday, but I will do it again. And if you would like me to do it, I would love to hear from you. Please tell me if Monday nights are good for you. Tell me what time is good for you. Tell me what topics you want to talk about. I think that my understanding is that moms need other moms, including me. So I talk to my mom friends all the time and couldn't get through parenting without my mom and my mom friends.
Takes a village.
Takes a village. So my topic this week is to never give up on yourself, and I hope that that resonates with all of you because I think that sometimes we get really down on ourselves, and I'm just gonna relate it There's so many topics. There's personal stuff, there's professional stuff, there's spiritual stuff, okay? So it covers the gamut of all of your goals, all of your thoughts. I'm going to give you the example of— I'm gonna give you the example of my weight, which has been frustrating to me for the last 20 years because I'll let it go up and then I'll get on the scale and someone will talk me into getting on the scale, usually my husband.
Wasn't me. I never said anything.
And I will be be shocked by the number.
It is always a surprise.
It's always a surprise, and it should never be a surprise. I should be weighing myself so regularly that it is not a surprise. But what happens is I get away from the scale, I get away from my healthy habits, the weight goes up, I get on the scale, and I feel major shame and shame and down on myself. And how could I let this happen again? And for somebody who lost— what did I lose, Seth?
87 pounds.
I knew you were gonna remember.
I did build the website for somebody who lost 87 pounds.
You know, you're gonna be really down on yourself when you see that you let the numbers creep back up. So I think that, um, we just have to track where we're at at all times, with regardless of what the topic is. I mean, we're talking about work We're talking about weight, I mean, whatever it is, money, sales goals, revenue goals. Yes, you understand. Seth is the goal master, so Seth could actually probably help me reach this goal. I haven't had a conversation with you.
You have not. This topic has been taboo and I've never been allowed to comment or help in any way, shape, or form. So, um, she's growing on air, folks. She's maturing in front of your eyes.
One of my coping strategies is to stick your head in the sand. Thank you for cheering me up, by the way.
You're welcome. That's part of my job.
We need to laugh. Um, one of my coping strategies was to say to Seth years ago, um, this topic is off limits to you.
Yep.
I know when I'm too heavy. I know when I need to lose the weight. I do not need you to be on me. And he has been the most wonderful, supportive husband, and he loves me here and he loves me here.
So I can't even.
Okay, we won't.
We—
yeah, he deserves— I have told him this is not about him. It's partially about him. He deserves a thin and healthy wife, and I want to give that to him, but this is not about him. This is about me. This is about—
I never asked for anything.
You never asked for this. This is about me wanting to just be healthy, and I was not feeling very healthy. So I'm going to give you an update. I'm here to give you an update. Because I've been asked for an update. So every so often I will give you an update, and I would love to hear updates from you. Feel free to comment and tell me what goals are you working on, what's working for you. It does not have to be the same goal that I'm working on. I want to show you some things that have been helpful to me.
Okay, but give them the update first.
I'm going to give them the update after I show them some stuff.
All right, show them some stuff and then give them the update.
Okay, so Tayton I don't know if you're watching. I can't tell who's watching, but, um, Tayton gave me "Don't worry, be happy" journal for my birthday and a pen. Boss babe. Seth is really the boss, but I appreciate the pen.
I'm Tayton's boss, I'm not your boss.
Well, okay, anyways, my advice to myself and to you, I have one. Go get a beautiful journal and a beautiful pen that you enjoy writing with and start journaling. So one of the things that I'm doing differently is every night I am journaling my goals, not just about my weight, just in general stuff. I'm journaling positive stuff before bed, and I am journaling stuff as if it has already happened. So I already weigh X amount of pounds, okay? So I'm not saying I will weigh, I'm saying I weigh, and I'm writing positive stuff in my journal, and I'm going to bed on a positive note, and then I'm leaving it in my subconscious to train my brain to sleep and think about it all night. Now, I have also been told that I should do that the next morning.
Every morning, every night.
Every morning and every night. So I've been doing great at night. I need to add morning. So I am working on my brain this time. I have done a phenomenal job with willpower and exercise in the past. And I think I'm doing a great job with willpower and exercise now. However, it hasn't been sustainable.
Previously.
Previously, it has not been sustainable for me. And I think—
Push will wear you out.
I think that the willpower gives in, which I'm going to talk more about in a second. But I think that training my brain to believe positive associations is going to help me this time. So I'm working on my brain. That's change number 1.
I will take your visual aids.
Thank you for helping me, Vanna. Okay, so number 2, Seth and I love to trade books. We trade books all the time. He gave me The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews, one of the best books I've ever read. I strongly recommend going to get it. And it's like he gave it to me at the exact moment because I was stuck at this 16-pound mark. You know when you're like stuck, like you feel like you're at this like plateau and you need to get over it?
She had lost 16 pounds and couldn't move the scale past that for long enough to be frustrated.
Okay, did I— was I not clear?
I don't think you were, but other people with better Becca Secret Decoder Rings than I have might have understood you.
Okay, well, thanks for clarifying. So, I read the book. There's a bunch of lessons. I could do a whole blog on the book, but I just want to tell you my favorite lesson. My favorite lesson that I needed to hear was, "I will persist without exception." That was the last lesson. And what that means is I will keep going no matter what. And I needed it at that moment because I was like, oh, 16 again, 16 again. And I was like, it doesn't matter what the scale says, I'm going to keep going. Like nothing is going to throw me off course. I am never giving up. I will get this job done. I'm doing a great job. I got this. Okay, so get this book. It's going to inspire you. It's continuing to inspire me. He said that most people will give up, and guess what? Not me. I am not giving up. You are going to keep seeing me shrink, hopefully, on this vlog every week. Um, the update today is I am at a solid 20, which— so I got past the 16.
You lost another 4 pounds. That's awesome.
Now we gotta get past the 20. So if I think about where I want to be, it can be a little overwhelming. So I'm trying to stay focused on the fact that I'm happy with what I've done so far, and now it's time for the next 20. So I'm going to keep moving, and I'm going to tell you what happened to me next. My brother told me he sent me a book, and I was like, okay, that's awesome. I love to read. He sent me Fast, Feast, and Repeat, and I'm almost done with it. It's a phenomenal book. If you are like me, I have tried intermittent fasting and I have gotten success, and I was trying it again, um, and reading this book, I was doing it wrong. So you probably don't realize if you are doing intermittent fasting, you may not be doing it right, and she has, um, Helpful hints to get over plateaus. She talks about the immense health benefits of intermittent fasting. Don't fall over. I have Seth doing it with me because of the health benefits.
I'm not doing it to lose any weight because I don't want to lose any weight. I am doing it for other beneficial health reasons.
You have, you have heard me complain about this.
Yep.
I will try to not do it every time we talk about this topic. I am married to a man who cannot gain weight. And I just want to ask, how is that fair?
Very frustrating.
Life is not fair. I am not that person, but I am retraining my metabolism and I'm gonna do this. So I am in a positive state. I am never giving up. I will never get up— give up. You might hear me frustrated, you might hear me vent, but I'm going to keep going and I'm going to plow through and I am gonna get to my goal. And hopefully, I am hoping that you will join me with whatever goal you have. I did have a mom text me about her goal that is the same as mine and how she is working on that. And please feel free to reach out, feel free to comment, tell me what you're working on, tell me what successes you've had, tell me what challenges you've had. I'm here to listen, I'm here to help, I'm here to be inspired. And, um, I will continue to talk to you about this. I will give you updates in the future. We will talk about school more in the future. And I am open to any of your suggestions about topics because I love topic suggestions. They end up being the best ones.
And if you can't get to the gym and you're frustrated trying to stay in shape, check out our sponsor, theperfecthomeworkout.com.
I forgot to talk about Passion 4 Life, and I don't have a bottle.
We have them in the fridge.
Okay, we'll do that next time. We'll do, we'll do Passion for Life next time. But we love Passion for Life, we love the Spin Gym. We will tell you about more sponsors in the future. Ella, I need you to come in and end us out, baby. Seth, do you have anything you want to add? You have to go to bed.
I think you did an awesome job. I have been inspired this time watching you on this journey. I have taken notes. You have helped me on some of my own journeys. So, I'm super excited to watch your continued progress.
Can you tell me what you— you've told me that I seem different this time. Can you tell me how I seem different? Because you've been through this with me many, many times.
Many, many, many, many times. Yes. I think the thing that's different about you is your attitude. I think previous attempts, you have been all push, push, push, willpower, determination, and then eventually you fall off the— you fall off the wagon and the number goes all the way back up. I think this is the first time you actually look like you're enjoying the process. The other times you've been very frustrated every step of the way. You've been resisting and begrudging yourself that you had to do it again. And this time you actually look like you're having some fun, which feels very different, and I'm super excited.
Yay! Okay, thanks.
Can I say something super quick before you end?
Thanks for sharing, guys.
Yes. Um, I just want to tell everybody watching this and who is going to watch this That you are beautiful and you are amazing no matter what. And that your weight or how you look doesn't define you.
Um, I, I appreciate that. And I want you to know that my goal is just to be a healthy weight. Because I am not a healthy weight today. And that is not acceptable to me. I want to be a good example for you. I want to be a good role model for you. I want to live a long life with you, and I want to see your kids, and I want to be able to run around with your kids. Mommy, I want to say something. Say something quick.
And I just wanted to say—
Thank you, Eliza. Wise words from which one?
And I just wanted to say to everybody that if you're trying super hard, just never give up and count on yourself.
Thank you, Lily. Thank you, honey. I love that. Wise words from the little one. Okay, wise one.
Thank you for watching Whiny Food Wednesday with the Green Family.
Thank you for watching. See you next week. Thank you, Eliza. Thank you guys for joining. Thank you, ladies, for joining us. No problem. Bye.
