Are Your Resolutions Wrong?

YouTube video by Alex Swenson (Dec 29, 2020) advising viewers to reframe resolutions: focus on building consistent habits and actions rather than only outcomes. Uses examples (weight loss → eating habits; grades → study habits; athletic improvement → practice/training habits), encourages writing habit-based goals for 2021 and beyond, and invites viewers to subscribe and contact him by email.

Hey, how you doing? Alex here. Hey, Happy holidays and I'm wishing you a happy New Year. We're going into 2021 with a lot of motivation and even more discipline. But what I really wanted to talk to you about today is our goals and resolutions. If you're watching this, you probably have already written them down or you're at least thinking about them, which is great, and I want to commend you for that. But I want us to change our perspective and change our outlook on our resolutions and goals. And what I mean by that is we can't succeed at what we want without having good habits. Okay? So many of us, including myself, thinks what, what needs to change is that final outcome, right? What we wrote down on that piece of paper, for example, we need to lose weight, we need to have better grades, we need to make more money, we need to be a better athlete. We need to get into this school. We think that's what needs to change. But what really needs to change is, is the actions and habits that come before that to get us to that final point. That should be our goals and resolutions, the habits we need going forward to get to where we want. So what does that mean, really? So, for example, if we want or think we need to lose weight, it's not that we need to have better eating habits, then we'll lose that weight and get to a healthy weight that we should be at. We, we don't need better grades. We need better studying habits to get those better grades. We don't need to be a better athlete. We need better practice habits and better training habits to be that better athlete. Am I making sense here? Okay, so I want you to look at your resolutions. I want you to look at your goals, and if they're in your mind, start writing these down. Ok? And your resolutions goal should be those habits to get us to that final outcome that we want. Okay, that is so important. Take this with you not only for 2021, but the rest of your life. What are the things that you need to be doing consistently to get to where you want to be? Remember, we can't be good or succeed without having good habits. Hey guys, if you like this video, please hit like and subscribe. I'm going to be putting out videos like this every, every week in 2021. I'm super excited about this. Not only about how to better ourselves and how to better our life, but also recruiting. You guys know me about recruiting as well, but I'm really passionate of just helping off the field as I am as much as helping on the field moving forward. Okay. If you have any questions at all, email me. I'd be excited to hear about some of your resolutions and goals moving forward. I'll talk to you in the next video.

Most families are not missing scholarship money because their athlete is unqualified.

Two families DM’d me this week with the exact opposite problem. Same answer for both. 👇

Thousands of families are on a waitlist for something that does not open for another week.
