A freshman and a junior asked Coach Alex opposite questions about college recruiting timing. Both need a grade-specific plan: freshmen should build habits and track academics during their leverage window, while juniors can still win with rosters forming and deadlines approaching.

2 parents DM'd me this week with the exact opposite recruiting problem. One said, my athlete's a freshman, is it too early for this? The other said, my athlete's a junior, are we too late? And I gave them both the same answer. Stay with me on this. And if you're new here, I'm Coach Alex, a former D1 coach, scout, and recruiter. I've helped over 1,000 parents and athletes get to college, and I've had this conversation with more parents than I can count, so let me have it with you here. So to the freshman family, it's not too early. It's your leverage window, all right? Nothing is panicked, nothing rushed, but this is when the habits get built. The film starts, the academics get tracked from day one, and your athlete learns how the process works while there's maximum runway. The families who start here never play catch-up. Every junior I've ever coached wished they would have started earlier in the process. To the junior family, you're not too late. You're just in the urgent window, and urgent is still very winnable. Junior year is when rosters actually take shape. The evaluation season is happening right now, and the biggest academic deadlines land at the end of this A year. So what you need isn't more time, it's a plan that tells you exactly what to compress and what to skip. That's a solvable problem. So here's what I told both of them: you need the same thing, a plan built for your athlete's grade, because a freshman and a junior should never be running the same plan. And that's exactly why the Recruit Ready Challenge builds one for your athlete's sport and their grade. Same 30 days, different map. And if your athlete's a sophomore or senior, we have a customized plan for you as well. Doors open this Saturday, September 19th. They close on the 30th, and we start together on the 1st. Comment recruit, and I'll send you all the info. See you soon.
