Short YouTube advice from Alex Swenson about choosing trustworthy baseball camps and showcases during the college recruiting process. Swenson recommends prioritizing organized camps/showcases over travel tournaments, verifying that decision-making coaches (recruiting coordinator, head coach, or position coach) will attend, choosing events at least one day (preferably two), and attending events that include live games rather than only pro-style timed/workout drills.

Here's what to look for when you're considering camps and showcases during this important time of the recruiting process. And save this for later if you need to watch it later or send it to a friend who's going through this recruiting process with you. And don't be relied on tournaments. And think about this, okay? Because tournaments are very unreliable. You're just winging it out there. And the reason why, you don't know which college choices are going to be there. And there's so many travel teams now that's watered down everything. And you're playing on a random field somewhere in Georgia and there's no college coaches there, all right? So camps and showcases can be a lot more reliable, especially if you go to the good ones. Because I know you guys get emails all the time. Come to this, come to that. This is what you need to look for, right? Make sure the right coaches are going to be there. The recruiting coordinator, the head coach or the position coach, not the volunteer or Internet. That's not the decision maker. And it needs to at least be one day event, preferably two. And you need to be playing games, all right? Not just a pro style workout where you're running a 60 or throwing a bullpen. You need to play games. Coaches need to see you play in games. So those are the things that you need to look for. Good luck.
