College coaches start contacting athletes June 15 and make official visits August 1, but successful athletes are already on their boards. You need to flip the process: your athlete should actively recruit schools by sending film, measurables, and academics instead of waiting to be discovered.

So I was just talking to a parent and explaining we are in the biggest recruiting window of the year right now. Most families have no idea, and it's hard to know what you don't know. And June 15th already came. That's when college coaches could start actively talking to high school athletes in many sports. And now August 1st is right around the corner. That's when the doors are open for many high school athletes. Phone calls start, college visits start. It's super exciting time. Then the fall evaluation season, September through November, coaches are out watching players, checking transcripts, and finalizing their recruiting boards for the next class. By the winter, most of those boards are set. And here's what 11 years coaching a Division I program's taught me: coaches don't start from scratch when these windows open. The athletes getting the June 15th calls, August 1st calls and visits, the fall evaluations, they were already on the board. They were positioned before the window even opened. So be honest, if your athlete isn't getting traction right now in the busiest window of the year, waiting for the fall won't change that. Hoping to be discovered is not a strategy. Here's the fix: flip recruiting on its head. Stop waiting for schools to recruit your athletes. Start recruiting the schools. You pick the programs that fit. You put the film, the measurables, the academics, the schedule in front of those coaches. You make your athlete as easy as possible to see, evaluate, and be remembered. That's exactly what the Recruitable Athlete Challenge does. Position your athlete to get seen and get traction with college coaches heading into the fall. Doors open July 22nd. Keep your eye out and comment "recruit" and I'll send you the details. See you soon.
