Alex Swenson says the college recruiting window closes by the end of junior year, making senior outreach too late. Build skill, academics, strength, and mental toughness early, then get your name in front of coaches at schools that match your level, not just elite programs.

You have 3 years to go through this recruiting process in high school: freshman year, sophomore year, and junior year. By the time senior year comes around, most opportunities are gone. So my point is, you want to get the ball rolling. You don't want to wait till senior year to start the recruiting process. I got a question from a parent: what should we be doing right now to help our athlete get to the next level? And you should just play this on loop, what I'm about to give it to you. Starts with the foundation of the recruiting process, which is skill development, academics, weight training, and mental skills. You start there and then you start building out a school list that are realistic for you and as many schools as you possibly can because the name of the game is exposure. College coaches can't recruit players that they don't know about. And if you're going after only the Vanderbilts and Floridas of the world and you're not a Florida or Vanderbilt or Stanford athlete, you are not putting yourself in the greatest position. So you want to find the right fits. Then you need to get exposure to to those college coaches. You need to have a good plan and a process to get your name out there and get in front of those college coaches that are going to be a good fit for you. All right, give me a follow if you want some more help. Good luck.
