Alex Swenson breaks down University of West Florida, a newly Division I football program with a 2019 D2 national title and strong recruiting window. UWF has 14,000 students on a coastal Pensacola campus, costs $6,000 in-state, and is actively building rosters where high schoolers can make an immediate impact.

There's a new D1 school in Florida that's under the radar, and this fall they officially go D1, and I want you to know about them— the University of West Florida. And if you're new here, I'm Coach Alex, a former D1 coach, scout, and recruiter. Now I help high school athletes and their parents navigate this recruiting process and help them get on the radar of these college coaches. So when I flag a school like this, pay attention. Here's why this isn't some random Program jumping up a level. West Florida baseball won the national title in 2011. They went 52-9, one of the best pitching staffs in the country. Their football team won the national title in 2019 and has an all-time record of 81-30. This is a program that's been quietly dominant at the D2 level. They've also won national or conference titles in golf, tennis, soccer, and softball. And starting this fall, all of it moves up to Division I football in the United Athletic Conference. Everything else in the ASUN alongside schools like Jacksonville, Lipscomb, North Florida, Florida Gulf Coast. Here's why I want you to pay attention. A school transitioning into D1 is a golden window. Rosters are still being built. Coaches need talent now. And you get in on the ground floor of something with a real winning culture already baked in. And the numbers make sense too. 14,000 students, 1,600 acres near the beach in Pensacola. In-state tuition is around $6,000 a year, one of the most affordable D1 options in Florida. Even out of state, you're looking at around $19,000, still well below what a lot of D1 programs charge. This is exactly the kind of school most families never think to look at. A winning program, an affordable price tag, going D1 while Nobody's watching. It is a hidden gem for sure. This is exactly why the Overlooked 500 exists. Plenty of schools like West Florida are hiding in plain sight for families willing to look. Most families are not missing scholarship money because their athlete is unqualified.

Two families DM’d me this week with the exact opposite problem. Same answer for both. 👇

Thousands of families are on a waitlist for something that does not open for another week.
