Coach Alex, a former D1 player and SEC recruiter, lists five overlooked Division I schools where his athletes have actually enrolled: Tulane, Florida Atlantic, Rice, Georgia Southern, and Florida Gulf Coast. Each offers real advantages, from Tulane's top-40 academics and New Orleans experience to FGCU's smaller rosters where athletes don't get lost.

Here are 5 D1 schools in the South that are overlooked. If you're new here, I'm Coach Alex. I help high school athletes get noticed and recruited to play at the next level. I played D1, I coached D1, and I recruited in the SEC. I've personally helped athletes into every single one of these schools, so this list isn't a guess. It's where my athletes have actually landed. Let's start with number 5, Florida Gulf Coast. Campus sits minutes from the beach in one of the fastest growing areas in Florida. The athletic department is on the rise, and the coaches genuinely invest in their athletes. You get a real developmental environment without getting lost on a giant school— or giant roster, rather. And number 4, Georgia Southern. True winning tradition, passionate fan base, I know, and a program culture built on developing players. It's a kind of place where you show up as a recruit and you leave as a pro-caliber competitor. And Stateboro treats their athletes like celebrities. Number 3, Rice. Top-tier academics in the middle of Houston, one of the biggest sports and business cities in America. You compete at the Division I level while earning a degree that opens doors for the next 40 years. Best of both worlds. Number 2, Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. Brand new energy around the whole athletic department here in a program that's been winning on a national stage. The facilities, the conference, the momentum Everything is trending up there. And number 1, Tulane. Top 40 academics, a championship-level athletic culture, and you live in New Orleans for 4 years. Add in how much scholarship money is actually available, and it might be the best total package in the South. Here's the deal: every one of these schools has open doors. My athletes have walked through them. The recruits chasing the same 40 famous logos are competing with everyone else. You don't have to. Every school on this list came from the exact process I teach inside my Recruitable Athlete Challenge. If you want in, comment recruit. I'll send you the link. Doors close this Friday. See you soon.
