The Best D2 Baseball Programs in the Country

Alex Swenson ranks the top 15 Division II baseball programs, with North Greenville taking the 2022 national championship at 54-10 and Point Loma as runner-up at 51-10. Only about 2% of high school players reach D2, where MLB teams actively scout. The video pushes recruits to look beyond D1 schools.

Hey, how you doing? Alex Swenson here. Thanks for joining me. And in today's video, we're going to be looking at the top 15 Division 2 baseball programs you might have saw last week. I did the top 15 Division 1 mid major programs and that was a big hit. So I wanted to do Division 2 and I'm going to also do Division 3 next week. So keep an eye out for that. And why am I doing this? I want to highlight all of the great baseball programs around the country. I other than the power five schools that are super sexy and trust me, I get it, I understand it. I worked at one and they're great and all, but there's negatives to them as well that we need to know and need to consider. I talk a little bit about that in my last video. So again, go check that out. And there's 1600 baseball programs at the next level in college that again, we just want to be aware of. I'm not saying you need to be aware of all 1600, but just know that there's a lot of opportunities out there and to help best position yourself to play at the next level is to consider a lot of different schools, cast a wide net and then narrow it down as we go. All right? So hey, if you get anything from this video, please smash that like button that thumbs up right down here and subscribe to my channel. I put out a weekly video on recruiting on baseball programs like this. Just trying to help you go through this process. So let's dive into why you should be targeting Division 2 school. So Division 2 is a very, very high end college baseball level, if you will. I mean there's plenty of Division 2 baseball programs out there that could easily beat Division 1 programs. There's no doubt about it. I don't know if you guys saw but last year, the year before in NAIA program beat a power five school. I mean college baseball is as good as it's ever been right now. I mean there's just so much talent going in and this is why. Another reason why you want to consider all of the levels. Especially now with the transfer portal done videos about that. But let me know if you have any questions, questions or anything. Please comment down below about what you guys want to see. It helps me give you guys what you want. Also on Division 2, 2% of high school players make it to D2. All right. And only 2% make it to Division 1. So it is not a lot of guys. And again it's a very high level, very, very competitive and every year players from Division 2 get drafted into an MLB organization. So again, I just want to make sure that you guys don't think for some reason the Division 2 is not a very high talent level. It's very, very high. And honestly what you're going for too is the experience, experience. The experience at all these levels. Division one, Division two, Division three are amazing. The experiences that you're going to get with your teammates, with your coaches, leadership mentors, the life skills that you're going to develop as a team and as a unit, going after one goal, it's a beautiful thing. And wherever you can get that, whether whatever level it is, it's amazing. Can really set you up for success after. So let's. With that said, let's get into Division 2 programs. Number one, who the national championship, North Greenville, North Carolina, of course. Got to put them as number one. They're national champions. They went 54 and 10. They are just doing unbelievable. The state of North Carolina, just in as far as college baseball, all these levels is. It's amazing. Very, very talented. Number two, Point Luma out of California, 51, 10. They were a runner up. Southern Arkansas University out of Arkansas, obviously at 47 and 13. That's number three. Number four, Rollins College in Florida. They had a good run at at the end and have been just very competitive over the years. Division 2 baseball in Florida obviously is very good. And they were 43 and 17. Angelo State University in Texas, they went 51 in 14. It turns out. Number five, Westchester University in Pennsylvania. They had a good run at the end too, 36 and 15. When I say at the end, at the end of last year, Southern New Hampshire University, some of these schools up in the Northeast are doing just a really good job. University of Connecticut is a Division 1 mid major that I highlighted last week. Again, really good. And now New Hampshire, you know, obviously a very small state. They're doing great. The 46 and 12. University of Illinois at Springfield, 48 and 11 last year there at number eight, University of Tampa. I mean, just historically one of the most historic Division 2 baseball programs, you know, in the country. Just consistently year in and year out, they run. They're at number nine. They went 44 and 13 last year. Lenore Ryan out of North Carolina, 46 and 13 again, just another state, another school out of the state of North Carolina. Columbus State University, 46 and 13. Out of Georgia, number 12. Wingate University, a North Carolina school, 48 and 10. Central Missouri at number 13. They went 46 in nine. All right, they were in the single digits over there in Missouri, number 14 Augusta as take a look at this. So SD South Dakota and then they have done a great job. 47, 13 and 1 and they have a pretty historic program as well of just doing a great job especially especially being in the state of South Dakota where man, it is cold up there. It's hard to recruit guys up there and it just tells you how well they're actually coaching their guys. It's fantastic. And to round out the top 15, Colorado Mesa out of Colorado, 43 and 17, some of these cold weather states doing a great job of coaching their guys and really competing at a high level. So that is the top 15 Division 2 baseball programs. I'm working to add more to this list of top 50 not only from mid majors but division two and division three. Next week I'm going to do a top 15 as well. Division three programs that you guys definitely need to take a look at and target as we go through this process. If you guys have any questions, please go on and comment down below. And if you guys want to see more see something else, please comment down below. And again, smash that like button that thumbs up and subscribe and I will see you in the next video. All right, take care.
