Let's talk about the little dirty secret of college baseball recruiting in particular at the Power 5 level. And this is coming from a former Division 1 college coach who was at a Power 5 at school. And they're great and all, they're super shiny, they're super sexy. But there's another side to it as well as there always is, alright? There's pros and there is cons. And just because you could play at the next level at the Power 5 level, doesn't mean it's always a good fit for you. So let me explain this. The dirty little secret is over recruitment, all right? They bring in more players than they need, which turns into a tryout in the fall, which honestly, that kind of sucks, all right? To commit to a school, I believe that is where you're committed to. And as long as you do your part and everything that you need to do, you are committed there for the next four years, okay? But a lot of times it turns into a tryout there. And about half of those commitments that are at a lot of these Power 5 schools aren't even there after freshman year. They get pushed to a juco, they get cut. So consider other levels, the mid major levels, D2 and D3. There's not as much over recruitment at those levels.
