The most talented athletes aren’t always the ones who get recruited.

An 11-year Division I coach explains why talent alone doesn't get you recruited. Coaches need three things: proof you can play at their level, academic eligibility, and awareness they know you exist. Most families hope for the best at showcases instead of sending targeted video and measurables to schools that actually recruit your position.

Do you know which high school athletes are the most recruitable? After spending 11 years inside Division I programs coaching, scouting, and recruiting, I can tell you the answer, and it's probably not what most families think. It's not always the athlete with the best statistics or metrics. It's not the athlete playing for the biggest teams, and it's not even the athlete attending the most showcases and camps. The most recruitable athletes have 3 things: ability, academics, and awareness. They have the ability to compete at that level, the academics to get admitted, and the right coaches know exactly who they are. This last part is where most families get stuck. They hope someone will discover their athlete. They attend tournaments, showcases, and camps hoping the right coach happens to be watching, but hope is not a strategy. Coaches knowing who your athlete is comes from having a clear plan. The families that succeed are proactive. They identify schools that fit their athlete athletically, academically, socially, and financially. They determine which programs are recruiting their athlete's position and graduation year. They then consistently put the right information in front of those coaches. That's key. Updated video, verified measurables, academic information, their upcoming schedule, and a clear reason they're interested in that particular school. But here's what most families underestimate: consistency. That is key. Not one email, it's consistent emails. Not one showcase, it's consistent showcases or camps. Not one great performance followed by months of silence. The athletes who struggle aren't always less talented. They, they are often less visible, less organized, and less strategic. The good news is that every part of this can be learned. Your athlete cannot control whether a coach offers them, but they can control whether the right coaches know who they are, can evaluate them, and understand why they could fit their program. That's exactly what we're building inside the 30-Day Recruitable Athlete Challenge. We'll help your athlete become organized, visible, and coach-ready with a clear plan instead of more guesswork. Comment "recruit" and I'll send you the information. See you inside.

Most families are not missing scholarship money because their athlete is unqualified.

Two families DM’d me this week with the exact opposite problem. Same answer for both. 👇
