Your athlete just dominated a showcase. A really good performance, good metrics, good stats and yet silence from college coaches. Meanwhile, a kid with lesser numbers just walked away with three D1 offers. As a former D1 coach, Scout and recruiter, here's why metrics don't tell the whole story. We have two players side by side, Player A and Player B. Player A has good metrics, good stats and Player B has good metrics and stat but is not as good as as Player A. Player A we didn't go with we went with Player B. Why? Because college coaches just aren't looking at metrics and stats. They're looking at how you can compete, how you read plays, what's your technique and fundamentals, how's your composure under pressure. Player A had better metrics. Player B had better instincts and better decision makings in game. That's what college coaches are looking for. The numbers can definitely open up the doors for you. But. But the intangibles get you signed. So what separates the recruited from the overlooked. Their competitiveness. Their game awareness. Their instincts in action. Their core fundamentals. Their mental toughness. All things that you do in a competition, not just a showcase. So don't panic as well if you don't have the top metrics.
