Hi, I'm Rico Sharp, business executive and property investor, and my proposed keynote for the 2027 EDA National Roadshow is entitled Bringing Out the Best in Human Potential: The Hidden Engine of Economic Prosperity. My central premise is this: every prosperous place begins with people. Doesn't matter if you're in Australia, if you're in England, doesn't matter if you're in the United States, doesn't matter if you're in Dubai. Every prosperous place begins with people. Infrastructure matters, investment matters, technology matters, industry matters, strategy matters, but none of those things created prosperity by itself. People activate them. Human potential is the engine that turns resources, ideas, investment, and opportunity into sustainable economic outcomes. In this 45 to 50 minute keynote, I will help economic development professionals examine prosperity through a people-centered leadership lens by focusing on 5 key areas. Number 1, I will lead the transition before simply managing the transition. Whether a company is experiencing workforce disruption, industry change, technological advancement, or economic uncertainty, People need leadership that communicates clearly, leadership that builds trust, reduces resistance, and helps them understand their place and what is changing. Number 2, I will help them to identify and activate the best within a place. Through my Bringing Out the Best in You framework and ecosystem, I will challenge your delegates to look beyond what a community lacks and begin identifying what already exists within its people, businesses, organizations, industries, partnerships, corporations, and emerging leaders. Sometimes the next economic solution is not something that has to be imported. It is potential that has not yet been discovered, potential that hasn't been developed or empowered. Number 3, build alignment around opportunity. Economic prosperity requires collaboration between government, business, education, workforce partners, community organizations, entrepreneurs, and investors. I will give participants practical applications and practical approaches for bringing these groups together around shared opportunities and common goals. Number 4, turn human potential into innovation. Innovation does not begin with technology. It begins with people. People who feel empowered to think, create, solve problems, challenge assumptions, contribute ideas, and see possibilities where others may see problems. Technology can accelerate innovation, but human potential gives innovation its purpose, creativity, and direction. And number 5, what I call my home run when bases are loaded, Build people-centred investment readiness. Places become attractive when they demonstrate strong leadership, adaptable talent, collaboration, confidence, creativity, and the ability to respond successfully to ever-changing times and industries. These 5 principles are relevant in both metropolitan and regional Australia. The size of the place may change, the industry may change, the resources and challenges may change, but the need to develop people will always remain the same. The need to strengthen leadership will always remain the same. The need to build collaboration will always remain the same, and to activate local potential will always remain the same. Delegates will leave with a simple, replicable framework they can immediately apply within their own organizations and communities. Number 1, they will identify potential. Number 2, develop potential. Number 3, empower potential. Number 4, align potential. Number 5, activate potential. My goal is not simply to inspire people for 50 minutes. My goal is to equip economic developers professionals with practical leadership tools that they can take back to their community and implement immediately. Because prosperity is not created by a place alone. It is created by empowering people within that place. And when we bring out the best in people, we bring out the best in places. And when we bring out the best in places, we create stronger for innovation, investment, resilience, and sustainable prosperity. Thank you for considering me as a speaker for your 2027 EDA National Roadshow, and I look forward to being able to serve. I'm Rico Sharp, and I want to bring out the best in Australia. Rico Sharp.
