Bringing out the Best in you! Part 8

God gave you specific gifts and talents meant to be used, not buried. The speaker uses the Parable of the Talents to show what happens when you hide what you're given, and warns that a job that stifles your creativity and leaves you unfulfilled isn't the place to develop them.

Develop what God deposited. Anytime God gives you something, you can't just let it lie dormant. You have to put it to work. You have to work it. The Bible says in Ephesians 2:10 that we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. The Bible gives in Matthew a parable about the talent. God calls these 3 guys, give them 5, 3, and 1 talent. The one with the 5 put his to work. The one with the 3 put his to work. But the one with the 1 just went and dug a hole and buried it. And then when God calls them to give an account for what they've done with what he gave them, the one with 5 says, I have 10. The one with 3 says, I have 6. But the one with 1 says, I did nothing with it. I just hid it. I dug it. I dug a hole in the ground. I put it in. I buried it. I did nothing with it. Amen. And God says this, this man who did nothing with what I gave him is a wicked servant. And he takes the one from that one and he gives it to the other. Can I say to you, God has given you greatness and talent and gifts and skills and creativity and originality and authenticity, and you can't just bury it. You have to do something with it. You have to develop it. You have to cultivate it. You have to plant it. You have to sow it into the lives of others. Ephesians 4 says that when Jesus got ready to descend or to ascend into heaven, that he called the body and he gave gifts unto man. And the Bible says, for the working of the saints, for the working of the ministry, for the perfecting of the saints, and for the edifying of the body of Christ. What are you doing with what God has given you? I'm not talking about holding a job and being a good mom, good dad, a good husband, a good wife. What are you doing with your skills, with your greatness, with your talent? Some of you, you hate your job because you know that in the place that you work, you're not operating and flowing in the level of creativity that you have. And you're probably overworked and underpaid, and they pay you just enough to keep you from quitting, and you work just enough to keep from getting fired. That's good. But that job doesn't doesn't make your baby jump. And you know that you have more within you, and your greatest frustration in life to this day is knowing that you have more on the inside than what you're actually flowing in right now in your life. You're frustrated because you have greatness in you, and your 9 months of labor has expired, and you're still carrying That baby, and that.
