I’m a grave thief!

Rico Sharp argues that most people die with their God-given gifts unused, taking greatness to what he calls the world's wealthiest cemetery. He calls himself a grave thief, determined to give away every talent, idea, and resource before he dies, leaving nothing behind.

I was asked recently— I've done— been blessed to do some magazine, um, and television appearances, and, and, um, I've been blessed to talk to people on different levels across the world. And in an interview that I did not that long ago, somebody asked me, they said, Mr. Sharp, we see what you're doing and how you're moving across the globe speaking and sharing. What do you want your legacy to be? What do you want to be known as before you leave here? And so I stopped for a moment and I thought, and I said, you know, that's a very good question. And so my answer would be this: I want to be known as a grade thief. Oh! And they looked at me, and they said, can you explain what that means? I said, I'd be delighted to do so. I said, you think about it. We're born in this world full of gifts, talent, greatness, destiny, purpose. We're born in this world full of what God has placed on the inside of us. It's like God said to Jeremiah in chapter 1:5, before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, right? Right. And before you came forth, I already ordained for you to be a prophet, right? So the calling was there before he was born. And so when he was born, he came into this world to serve the purpose of God. And so God has already placed within each of us all that we would ever need within us for life. Yes, we got to develop it. Yes, we have to groom it. Yes, we have to grow and evolve, but it's there on the inside. Put your hand right here and say, it's already there. It's already there. It's already there. That's why John 7:38 says, out of your spirit flows rivers— plural— rivers, streams, Resources of living water. Amen. And so I said, I want to be known as a great thief. People who are born into this world, oftentimes they're born, they live, and they die with their dreams unfulfilled, with their aspirations unfulfilled, with their potential unfulfilled. And they have books in them that never got written. They have songs that never got sang. They have businesses that never got started. They have ideas that never got shared. They have poems that never got subscribed. They have all types of things inside of them that they didn't do anything with. And then when they go to the grave, they take those blessings that could have been for someone else— Yes. To the grave with them. They take that greatness that they could have explored to the grave with them. They take the gifts of God that could have been used to edify the body to the grave with them. Wow. And therefore establishing that the grave, the cemetery, is the most wealthiest place in the world. Wow. Not in terms of gold and silver and diamonds, but in terms of gifts and talents and greatness that could have been explored, could have been lived out. But people die with their greatness in them because for some reason, from their birthday to their death date, They allow for the enemy or themselves to deprive them of the greatness God meant for them to explore. Wow. So I said, what I plan on doing is before I go to the grave, I plan on emptying myself of everything God has placed within me for the human race, so that when I do go to the grave, I can be like Paul and say, I have poured out I am now ready to be offered. The time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have kept the faith. I have finished my course. The Apostle Paul is saying, I'm ready to go to the grave. I have nothing left to give. I'm no longer impregnated with gifts and, and scriptures and chapters and books and verses for the body. I poured it all out. My ink pen has run out of ink. I have no more paper. I'm ready to be offered up. Wow. I said, I want to be known as a great thief. They leaned back in their chair and they said, I've never heard anybody say that before. That's where my mindset is. And because that's where my mindset is, God has allowed for me to experience supernatural acceleration.
