Leadership Part 4

Leadership perspective means seeing beyond what is now to what could be. Effective leaders address all problems seriously, no matter the size, and offer solutions instead of dismissing concerns. This builds trust, prevents small issues from becoming big ones, and creates teams where people know they matter.

Then you need leadership perspective. Let's say you have the potential and the passion of leadership, but you don't have the perspective of leadership. The word perspective means a mental view or prospect. In order to build and leave a leadership legacy, you must have leadership perspective. You got to have the mindset to be able to look at things on the job At work and see it not for what it is, but for what it can be. You got to be able to have the type of mentality where you can see solutions to problems, answers to questions, and you can see how to solve problems and how to fix things, even if it seems to be something that is time-consuming or something that is stressful or something that is depleting and exhausting. You got to have the right perspective. People need to know that when you show up, that you have the oversight, that you have insight, that you're looking at things not with your eyesight but with your mind's eye. People need to know that you have the maturity and the wisdom to be able to look and figure out what needs to be done in order to get the agency or the team to where you're trying to get to. People need to know that when you show up, that eagle eyes just stepped into the building. Somebody that can see afar off, someone that can focus in on things that are small without micromanaging, and focus in on things that may seem to be insignificant to your team members, but you want them to know it's important that That you give your help and your support, even if they think it's insignificant. It's not insignificant if it's involving the team, if it's involving the agency. And I say that because a lot of times your team members may not want to come to you with certain things because they may think that because you're operating from a leadership perspective that you don't have the time to deal with matters that may tend to be small to you in their eyes. But when you show them that there is no matter too small that we can't handle it together, and there's no matter too big that we can't handle it together, together, then it shows them that there is no such thing as a small matter or a big matter. It's just something that we all work together on. And you look at that and you show them, hey, I'm governing over this department. I'm looking at everything, not so that I can be judgmental, but so that I can be effective. Because no matter what it is, if it's a small thing, if I don't give my insight, if I don't give my input, then that small thing can become like a cancer and it can grow up and then it can throw us off our focus. We don't want that to happen. We want to champion it and jump on it, and we want to accomplish it and conquer it while it's small so that it don't take away from our time that we should be focusing on other things. Does that make sense to anybody? Yeah, that's good. When people come to me in my own company, in my own business, and tell me about the problems they are facing, Sometimes they're told, oh, don't go to Rico with that. Don't go to Mr. Sharp with that stuff. He don't have time for that. Wait a minute. Timeout. If it's something that is important to you, then it's important to me. If it is something that bothers you, then it's important to me. If it is something that is keeping you up at night, it's important to me. So let's not begin to size up what is insignificant or significant Let's make everyone significant and everything significant so that we can work together to create a significant team in this agency. That's, that's how I look at things. All right. Thank you, Rico.
