Lets workout in your mind and become mentally fit!

Rico Sharp compares life's hardships to gym workouts: divorce, financial stress, illness, and grief are weights you lift repeatedly to build mental strength. Pain and failure aren't obstacles but necessary tools for developing resilience, willpower, and a survivor mindset.

So I'm in this fitness center, and when you're in a fitness center, you're focused on becoming physically fit, right? Physically sound. And that means that there's a certain level of mental toughness that has to be applied to your mindset when you walk into a fitness room, because when you're in the fitness room, it's all about business, right? There are weights that you're going to have to lift that's not going to get lighter. It's not going to make it any easier for you. Uh, there is some running that you're gonna have to do on a treadmill to get your cardio built up, to establish a greater stamina for yourself. There are some things that you're gonna just have to do to get yourself physically fit. You gotta lift the dumbbells, you gotta exercise, you gotta properly breathe, you gotta properly focus, you gotta properly commit yourself. And that's the way it is in life, because life is what? A fitness center. That's right. There's gonna be some dead weight in your life. There's gonna be some things that you find yourself having to contend with. There's gonna be some pressure that you're gonna have to lift off your life. Maybe it's pressure from a divorce. Maybe it's pressure from children dropping outta high school. Maybe it's pressure from your sickness or circumstances that have affected your health and your ability to live life with the quality that you are accustomed to. Maybe it's financial stress, financial pressure. Maybe it's the death of someone that you love. And it puts a lot of weight on you. It puts grief on you. It causes for you to be down and dejected, sometimes depressed and lacking a type of vitality. There are all kinds of things that can happen in life. There are all kinds of things. But what you got to do is you got to get to where the weight is. You got to get to where the pressure is and you got to lift it. You got to pump it. You got to get it off you. And that's what you got to do in life, man. You got to pump it off you. You gotta get the stress off you. You gotta run until you're able to build up the stamina and build up your cardiovascular. You gotta make sure that you're able to accomplish what you wanna accomplish and do what you wanna do. You can't quit. It's gonna be painful. It's gonna hurt. Sometimes it's gonna get hard, but you gotta keep going at it. When you're lifting weight, that weight's not gonna get easier. If I get on the bench and bench press 225 pounds, it's not gonna get any lighter. It's gonna continue to be 225 pounds. If I do it 1 time or 1,000 times, by the time I get to that 1,000th time, it's still gonna be what it was at the first time. That's 225 pounds, and you just got to keep going at it. You can't stop. What happens in the process is that you get stronger, and when you get stronger, it makes it easier to do. It doesn't make it any lighter, but it does make it easier. When you're running, your lungs begin to expand and you begin to develop a greater stamina. That's how it is in life. You just got to keep going. When things get heavy, push it off you. You're exercising, you're building up your muscles, you're building up your mental muscles. You're building up your determination. You're building up your willpower. You're building up your resilience. You're building up what's on the inside of you as a fighter. You're building up what's on the inside of you as a survivor. But you gotta keep going. You gotta keep working at it. Do not quit. Do not give up. Do not lay down. Do not walk into the fitness room and then you say, hey, look, I'm gonna quit. I'm gonna stop. I'm gonna give up. Do not do that. Do not walk into the fitness room and then you feel like, I can't handle it. It hurts too much. It is supposed to hurt. It is supposed to be hard. It is supposed to be difficult. It is supposed to try you and push you to the limit. But what's happening is that you're becoming better at who you are. You're becoming better in living your identity and pursuing after your purpose. Things are going to hurt. Pain is a part of the process. Where there is no pain, there could be no gain. You've gotta be able to deal with life. Where there is no tragedy, there could be no triumph. Where there is no breakdown, there could be no breakthrough. Where there is no test, there could be no triumph. That's right. Testimony. Where there is no stumbling blocks, there could be no stepping stones. And where there is no failure, there could be no success. I'm in the fitness room today. I'm ready to build me up because life is waiting on me. And when life comes, I gotta be able to deal with it. I gotta be able to roll with the punches. I gotta be able to kick. And I gotta be able to defend me at all costs. I gotta work on me. to make me better. That's what I need you to do. Work on you and make you better. Get fit for the next level of life. This is Rico Sharp with Rico Sharp Motivations. Visit my website, ricosharp.org. And remember, life is what you make it.
