In this motivational monologue, the speaker urges listeners to recognize that they have a single, finite chance to shape their lives and must take full responsibility for their dreams. Drawing on his own story of dropping out in ninth grade, running away at 13, earning a GED while incarcerated, and self‑educating through buying books from a fellow inmate, he illustrates how personal transformation is possible regardless of past mistakes. He emphasizes that no one will hand over wealth, a house, or a dream; you must give it to yourself. The talk outlines a concrete framework: a dream creates a vision, which leads to goals, planning, resource identification, energy, and ultimately happiness. He encourages the audience to pursue education (e.g., graduating from Florida Technical College), set clear goals, and seize opportunities, asserting that if he could turn his life around, anyone can.

You have the opportunity to do big things with your life. I need you to really take this moment serious and consider that it's a blessing for me to be here because I have the opportunity to make something with my life. I have the opportunity to do something with my life. I have the opportunity to realize my dream. I have the opportunity to go where I desire to go in life because I only have one chance to do it. And after a while, life is over. We go to sleep and we never wake up again. And if that's coming to each and every one of us, because it is, then I need you to wake up now and realize this is my chance. This is my opportunity. This is my opportunity. There's nothing in life that you can't have. And the truth is, you owe you. You owe you. You owe you. You owe you the opportunity to go where you've never been in life, to do what you've never done. You owe you the opportunity to build your dream house from the ground up. You owe you the opportunity to drive down the street in whatever type of automobiles that you want to drive in. You owe you the opportunities to travel the world and see parts of this world that you never even thought existed. Yeah. You owe you the opportunity to raise a family and have children, have sons and daughters that love you, that calls you mom and call you dad. You owe you the opportunity to have money in bank accounts. You owe you the opportunity to be able to live your dream life, whatever that looks like for you. You owe you. But can I tell you, nobody's going to give you your dream. No one is going to give you wealth. No one is going to give you riches. No one is going to give you a big house. No one is going to give you a Maybach or a Bentley or a Mercedes-Benz or a Jaguar or a BMW. No one's going to give it to you. You have to give it to you. You have to give it to yourself. Just because you didn't graduate high school doesn't mean you can't succeed in life. I dropped out of school in the 9th grade. I got my GED in prison. But just because you made mistakes along the way doesn't mean your life is over. I ran away from home at the age of 13. Just because I made mistakes as a teenager doesn't mean my life is over. No. Just because I didn't go to college out of high school doesn't mean my life is over. See, I made a promise to myself that I owe me. One day while sitting in prison, I decided I'm going to get the most out of life that I can get. And while everybody was using their money to buy Little Debbie snack cakes, Dorito chips, and then gambling, playing poker. I use my money to buy encyclopedias, books, commentaries, dictionaries. I use my money to buy concordances, things that I can sit down and learn and teach myself from. There was this guy named Billy who was an older guy. He had all the books. He had his own personal library. And Billy had been in prison for a very long time and was never getting out. And when I found out that Billy had his own personal library, I went to Billy and said, Billy, can I buy some books from you? And Billy wanted cigarettes. Billy wanted coffee. Billy wanted to be able to have those commentary items. I wanted knowledge. I wanted information. I wanted another chance at life. I wanted to improve my skills. I wanted to better myself. So I made a deal with Billy that I would buy all of his books. And every time I got money in, I ran to Billy and I bought a book from Billy. And I ran back to my dorm and I sat down and I opened the book up and I immersed myself in the book so that I can renew my mind, change my focus, change my identity, and find something in life that was worth living for. Absolutely. If I could come out of prison and turn my life around, Then you can avoid prison and build the road straight for your life. If I could come out of prison, get off the drugs, come away from the criminal lifestyle, and make a career for myself traveling the world speaking to people, then surely you can take advantage of this opportunity to graduate from Florida Technical College and go out there and make a great life for yourself. And besides all of that, not only can you do it, but what else is there in life better than that? A man, a woman living in this world needs a dream. And when you have a dream, you get a vision from that dream of how you're going to make it happen. The dream shows you what's possible. The vision shows you how to do it. Out of that vision, you set goals. Goals are steps that you implement to teach you how to plan and make that come to fruition. And then when you have goals, you recognize resources. Sources that you never even realized before will show up to give you the support that you need. And out of that resources, you have the energy and the adrenaline and the motivation to make things happen. And when you see that you're doing some things in life and you're making progress with your life, now you have happiness. But without a dream, there is no vision. And without a vision, there are no needs for goals. And without a goal, there's no need to plan. Without planning, there's no need for resources. And without resources, there's no need for energy. And if you don't have energy, then you're not happy because you're not doing anything or going anywhere with your life. And if you're not happy in life, then what else is there?
