Rico is doing a TV promotion for SHRM Leadership Conference before speaking to 25,000 attendees.

Rico Sharp talks about the SHRM Leadership Conference as a place for burned-out HR professionals to rebuild. He's speaking twice and signing books. The conference argues that investing in your team now costs less than fixing problems later.

What they want to have is somebody else that they can talk to, that they can go to as a baseline to help them to suppress the problems and the struggles and the challenges and the burnout that they're experiencing themselves. So SHRM offers a place and a time for rejuvenation.
This is the best, best referral for the HR profession, and SHRM is the workstation that we feel that we can take to enable the team to move forward.
Well said. I mean, I'm sure, hopefully, in your time here, you've been maybe— have you had the opportunity to interact with anyone who's here? I have had the opportunity to interact with a bunch of people because yesterday I did a session yesterday and I have 2 sessions today, but I'm also doing a book signing.
So yesterday I had a chance to go over and be there and talk to folks and things like that.
It sounds like a lot of sessions going on. What makes this one special?
What makes this one special is because you get a chance to make a difference, not just for yourself, but to make a difference for other people who come to this conference. People come here because they realize there's a need out there.
It's not just like one of these average conferences where people go because there's a certain speaker that's going to be there.
It's kind of like an outlet for them to be able to get away. When people come here, there's an urgent need for these people to be resettled.
When they come here, they're coming here saying, hey, look, I love my career, I love what I'm doing, but it's taking a toll on me, and I need you to help me to build my strength up, to recalibrate, reposition myself so I can go back and be the difference, not just make a difference, but be the difference in their lives. So this place is special. It's unlike any other.
Nothing.
This place is—
I love it.
Makes you think crazy.
Uh, you know, like, people need to—
and a lot of the time somebody's trying to convince their boss to go on a presentation about this place, to spend their money, send me—
not just send me, send my whole team to be going If the corporation does not invest into their team, it's going to cost them even more later on when things begin to fall apart.
And for an individual that wants to come to Shogun but doesn't feel like it's worth the amount of money, here's what I say to you.
If you're willing to invest in yourself, then why not? We live in days right now where there's so much money that ends up tied to people who are not good at their job.
You can't operate at your peak performance unless you're constantly pouring into your life everything that you need to operate above the level that you're already kept down. Sherm offers that. Sherm gives you the opportunity to grow while you move too far.
Sherm gives you the opportunity to be restrained to your role so that you can go back and operate at the level that you need to operate at.
Why is it something that's worth the investment to be able to operate at?
You know, you're obviously—
you're going to speak the best when you're not speaking down on anything. Are you attending all the sessions?
I am.
So, you know, it's obviously a bit of a unique situation in which you're not necessarily bringing such a bad experience to the conversation or the decision. Anything that stood out to you while you've been here?
Anything new?
Yes. So speakers are hilarious.
Even the ones that think they're the special speaker.
I am always—
