Eddie Hall says the deadlift is the single best exercise because it trains everything: feet, calves, glutes, hamstrings, upper back, grip, forearms, and biceps. He also talks about his old preference for high-carb meals and jokes about portion sizes.
If you could pick one thing to do consistently, that is the best thing to train to get strong, what would it be?
If you're going to pick one exercise for the rest of your life, it's going to be the deadlift, because it trains absolutely everything. You're working your feet, your calves, you're working your glutes, your hamstrings, your upper back, your grip, your forearms, your biceps, everything. Yeah, you want to put size on, like, half a kilo of steak, getting towards a kilo of pasta. And then for pudding, I'd have, like, half a family cheesecake. So, like, carbs for me was f stupid.
