Rob Moore argues that not trying is the real failure. He says entrepreneurs must fail fast, learn, and adapt, especially when moving products to market. Private equity deals, he warns, become all-consuming relationships that distract from what actually matters.
You have to try. You're going to fail, which is fine. Learn and go again. And I think people are so scared of failure. If you don't do it, you've already failed. You've just got to fail quickly and just take the learnings from it. I could make great products. I can't make people buy them. I can't make retailers list them. You have to be very, very flexible and adaptable. I know the experiences I've had with sort of private equity and trade, and I've probably got about the best experiences of anyone I know. And it's still been fairly shit. You're getting married when you do these deals. They kind of own a part of you. It's a distraction.
