Daughter, Press Through the Crowd | How Faith Activates Your Miracle

Rosangela Atte explores the woman with the issue of blood from Luke 8:43-48, linking her 12-year ordeal of isolation and trauma to modern survival wiring and fear patterns. Faith activates the prefrontal cortex and quiets the amygdala, rewiring the brain from survival mode to possibility mode. Jesus calling her "daughter" restored her identity and triggered healing in spirit, soul, and body.

My heart is to empower you to walk in your God-given identity and discover your purpose. Welcome back to the podcast. Today I want to share a message that has been burning in my heart, and it comes from Luke 8:43-48, the story of the woman with the issue of blood. But this is not just a story about physical healing. It's a story about pressing through the crowd, pressing through fear, shame, trauma, and pressing through mindsets and survival mechanisms that try to keep us stuck. Because sometimes the greatest miracle begins when we decide to move towards Jesus, even when everything around us is telling us to stop. Scripture tells us that this woman in Luke 8 had been suffering of this issue of blood for 12 12 years of bleeding. But the physical suffering was only part of her story because according to Jewish law in Leviticus, a woman with a continual issue of blood was considered ritually unclean. This meant that she could not enter the temple, she could not participate in worship, she could not be touched by others, and she could not live a normal social life. For 12 years, she had lived as an outcast. Can you imagine the type of psychological and emotional impact this had on her? 12 years of rejection, isolation, shame, judgment, hopelessness. She felt completely unworthy. And the Bible says something that is very important. It says that she spent all her money on physicians, yet no one could heal her. So she had exhausted every human solution. When we read her story, we often imagine the physical crowd that was around Jesus, but there was another crowd she had to fight through. She had to fight through her internal crowd, the internal voices, the internal lies that the enemy was whispering to her And the lies that she had developed, the thoughts that she had developed from these 12 years of trauma, because let's call it as it is, it was trauma that she was going through for 12 years because she could not live her usual life. She could not be with family. Now, I don't know if she had children or a husband, it doesn't say, but family members, she could not be with them. be with other people. People looked at her and probably walked the other way. It was completely terrible and miserable, the life that she was living for those 12 years. Her voices in her mind kept telling her, don't go, you're unclean, people will reject you, what if nothing changes, what if you're disappointed again?
These are the same kinds of internal crowds many women face today, including myself.
Negative beliefs, trauma responses, survival mechanisms— these are all negative things that hinder us from living a full life. From a neuroscience perspective, long-term trauma creates survival wiring in our brains. The brain begins operating primarily from the amygdala, which is the threat And fear detection center of the brain. When women experience years of rejection and humiliation, the nervous system becomes conditioned to expect danger in social environments. So the brain says, stay small, hide yourself, protect yourself, don't risk rejection. So you do not expose yourself, you do not even speak, you, you fawn, you close yourself up because you are afraid of being rejected. This creates patterns of people pleasing, avoidance, self-sabotage, procrastination, fear of visibility, fear of stepping into our calling. And these are not moral failures. These are not things that we are doing consciously. These are all survival adaptations. But healing requires something very different. Healing requires movement towards safety and truth. And that is exactly what this woman did unknowingly. Scripture says that she heard about Jesus. She probably heard about all the miracles, all the signs, all the wonders that he was doing, and faith began developing in her because faith comes by hearing. Romans 10:17 says, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So something in her heart awakened. Hope was born. Possibility. Was born. Faith began to rise, and she probably started letting herself feeling joy again, because hope deferred makes the heart sick. We begin to go into depression and anxiety and just stay there in that pit.
But when she heard about Jesus, she began to hope.
She began to believe that maybe this was her answer.
Maybe this was—
The time she was going to be set free. So she made a decision, and I know that decision went against everything that her mind was saying and that her body was saying as well. And she thought to herself, if I can just touch the hem of his garment, I will be healed. And this is so powerful because faith is not passive. Faith without works is dead. That's what the word says. Faith moves. Faith takes action. It presses forward. Her belief activated her obedience. Luke 8:47 describes her touching Jesus, the hem of his cloak, the hem of his garment. They say that she touched the fringes at the bottom of his cloak. The Greek word used here is aptomai. Aptomai means To attach oneself, to cling to, to fasten oneself to something. This was not just a small touch, a hesitant touch. She was clinging to him, not just physically but with her whole being. Her life depended on it. She attached herself to the presence and the power of Jesus. She demanded. She put demand on his anointing. She stole that miracle. She took it from him. Because faith clings. Faith refuses to let go.
And the scripture says that he felt power, virtue, go out from him.
The word used here in the Greek is dunamis. This is the word where we get the word dynamite from, and it means miraculous power, explosive power, strength, ability, moral transformation, restoration of the soul, and even the power connected to resources And provision, because remember, she not only needed physical healing from the issue that she had, but she needed emotional healing, emotional healing in her nervous system, in her brain. Her brain needed to rewire itself. The nervous system needed to feel safe again, but she also needed financial healing because she had spent—
Money.
All her savings, all her money, and she was not healed. So she had no more opportunity left, nothing left. Jesus was her only chance.
This healing was not just physical, it was emotional, spiritual, psychological, relational, financial.
Dunamis power restores the whole person— spirit, soul, and body. And something so fascinating is that modern neuroscience confirms What scripture shows. Faith changes how the brain processes reality. When a person believes something deeply, you know, that kind of faith I'm sure you've all experienced, that no matter what people say, no matter what you see around you, no matter the circumstances, nobody can shake that faith. Nobody can tell you otherwise. You just stand on that promise, whatever the Lord has promised to you, and nothing can shake it. So when a person believes something deeply, the brain begins activating the prefrontal cortex, which is the center of decision-making, purpose, and forward movement. And faith quiets the fear circuits. It calms the amygdala. It calms the nervous system. It increases resilience, and it allows people to take courageous actions. In other words, faith rewires the brain from survival to possibility. And the woman's faith moved her body towards Jesus. Then something incredible happened. Jesus turned and said one word to her: Daughter. Every time I read that passage, it just makes me so emotional because it was so intentional. He didn't just call her daughter because. He made sure that everybody around heard him call her daughter, and that word for daughter in the Greek is thigater. This word carries a deep, deep meaning. It refers to a daughter of God, one who belongs to the household, one under the protection and care of the father, an heir to the family. So this was a public declaration of belonging. Jesus restored her identity, her reputation. She was no longer defined by her condition. She was defined by her relationship to Him. And belonging is one of the most powerful healing forces in the human brain. When someone feels rejected, the brain activates the same pathways as physical injury. That's very powerful. But when someone experiences acceptance and belonging, the brain releases oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin. These chemicals promote safety, connection, healing. So when Jesus called her daughter, he did more than just acknowledge her. He restored her nervous system, her identity, and her dignity. Jesus said something extremely important. Your faith has made you well. He didn't say, my power healed you, although it was his power that healed her because he felt it come out of him, but it was her faith that activated that power. The faith placed a demand on his anointing and power had no other choice but to come out of him. Because of her faith. Her faith activated that power. Her faith positioned her for the miracle. Today, the crowd in our life might not be physical, but it's still very real. It can look like fear, trauma, rejection, religious shame, limiting beliefs, past failures, self-doubt. Pressing through the crowd today for us, it means Choosing faith over fear, choosing obedience over comfort, and choosing movement over paralysis.
I believe the Lord is releasing a dispensation of healing upon his daughters.
A dispensation means divine distribution. He is pouring out healing on women that have lived under shame, rejection, and silence, but he's also raising up women who will carry his healing power.
Women who will bring restoration to the broken, who will challenge systems of oppression, who will walk in their God-given identity and fulfill their purpose. But the invitation remains the same.
You need to press through the crowd.
You need to cling to Jesus.
You need to attach yourself to him because the same dunamis power that healed that woman is still flowing today.
And Jesus is still turning toward his daughters And saying, you belong to Me. You've been accepted. You've been restored. I love you.
Oh, Jesus, we thank You, Lord.
We thank You, Lord, for Your love. Thank You, Jesus, for breaking the shame and the chains that keep us bound. Lord, I pray for every woman listening right now. Give them the courage to press through the crowd. Give them the courage to go for their miracle and their breakthrough, God. Break the chains of shame, the wounds of rejection, the trauma, God. Restore their identity, God. Restore them as daughters of God. Release your dunamis power in every area of their lives, God— spirit, soul, and body. God, empower them, God, not to care, Lord Jesus, about what other people think. I break the fear of men. I break the fear of men over every daughter listening right now. You are worthy. You are chosen. Your identity is in him. What matters is only what He says about you, who you are in Christ, not who the world says you are, not the labels that the world puts on us.
What matters is what our Father calls us. He calls us daughters. We belong to His household.
We are heirs. We are protected by Him.
We belong to Him.
Oh, I pray blessings over you as you start breaking those chains and those lies off of your life by walking in purpose and fulfilling your assignment. I pray that God will open doors for you and that he will restore you from the inside out— spirit, soul, and body— that he will restore your finances, your relationships, your anointing, your belief in yourself as a daughter of God, because we are all chosen for such a time as this.
