Ryan Maloney shares three lessons from launching an NFT collection: treat it like selling any product and add real utility, spend months building an engaged Discord community with a dedicated team, and market from inside out through whitelists and gamified drops rather than paid ads.

3 things I wish I knew when I started my NFT line. 1, selling an NFT is like selling anything else. It's competitive. People are comparing products. You need to differentiate and innovate. See what's working out there and put your own spin on it. Add to it, add utility, and make it more than just art. 2, your community is your greatest asset. Work for months to build up your community in your Discord and try to aim for very high numbers of highly engaged people and get to know everybody there. This will be much easier to do if you have a team of people bringing people into your Discord and engaging. 3. Market from the inside out. Spend more time marketing to your community members and giving them access to your whitelist, and maybe gamify your drop. I've talked about gamifying the drop in another post. I know people in the comments will say promotion is the biggest thing, but I don't think buying Instagram posts and doing Twitter giveaways is a big pusher in sales. People need to really care and be invested in your NFT.
