Ryan Maloney works backwards on everything: he reads magazines from the back, scrubs to the end of workout videos, and visualizes the final product before creating it. He reverse-engineers the steps needed to get there, which helps him identify what actually matters and skip the rest.

Am I the only creative person on TikTok that works backwards? Everything I do is backwards. I read magazines backwards. Not that I've read a magazine in like 10 years. If I'm doing a workout from a YouTube video, I scrub through the whole thing, go to the end, and then I go back to the beginning. Now I do the workout. Stories end first, always thinking about the last page, something somebody says right before they close the book. What does the Amazon page look like? Anytime I get an idea, I immediately think forward into the future and think, what do I want the final product or reaction to be? Then I just do the Back to the Future time warp thing and go to the front, and I see all the spaces that I need to focus on to get to that result. Create backwards, not forwards.
