The Graphic Novel Part 3. Let's talk about getting an idea for your graphic novel. Ideas are a dime a dozen. It's going to come down to execution. But in order to get your first idea, you need to be inspired. So you need to constantly be exploring and improving your taste. So if you're making a graphic novel, you're going to want to look at really great graphic novels. For me, I keep Amulet on my desk as an example of what I'm aiming for. I'll never hit it, but I'm aiming for it. Capture your ideas daily. Try to put 10 to 100 ideas in a Notion, the Reminders app, or Notes on your phone. Or just on paper. As your taste increases, you'll get better ideas and you'll have something better to execute on. Soon, your ideas will start to talk to you. Then let your ideas compete against each other. Winners are the ideas that won the fight and won't get out of your head. The ones that keep you up at night and that scare you a little bit. Those are the ones that I choose to work on.
