Ryan Maloney walks through his system for creating multiple illustrated character books at once. He uses Notion to track characters, draws them in Procreate organized by book, exports as PNGs, then duplicates an InDesign template for each of roughly 20 books and customizes from there.

It's really easy to get lost when you're batch creating, so I always keep a checklist in Notion. Any time I create a character, I check a box. These are stacks of drawings in Procreate. Each stack is going to be its own book. Procreate's a little glitchy. There we go. Each book is going to have a similar format. I'm going to draw all the characters first, then when all the characters are done, I'm going to export those as PNGs with a transparent background, and those are going to get loaded into InDesign. I'll try to name the files the same so I can duplicate InDesign files and then automatically have all these 20 books setup, and then I can go in and tweak the drawings, tweak the stories, and make them all original.
