This is part two of how to build a CEO dashboard so powerful that you can manage your entire business on one Google sheet. There are four guiding principles that you need to know in order to build the best possible dashboard. Principle 1 Keep it simple. I've wasted tens of thousands of dollars on fancy dashboards and business intelligence tools and guess what? They all break. People stop trusting the data. People stop using them. A clean Google sheet scales farther than any complex tool and they never break. Principle number two Track it weekly. Daily numbers are way too noisy. Monthly is too late. Weekly is the sweet spot. That gives you enough time to spot trends. It also gives you enough time to act. Principle three you need to make it manual. Automation gives you data, but it doesn't give you insight. When you force your leadership to type in their own numbers manually, they know their numbers, they own their numbers and ownership equals accountability. Accountability and insight is forged when you make it manual. Principle number four Use stoplights. A dashboard can't just be data, it needs to be a scoreboard. Green if it's on track, red if it is off track. And yellow. This is important. Yellow means that it is behind. But we have a plan to get back on track. When you run your business by these four principles, you can manage an eight figure business from a single sheet in under an hour a week.
