In this motivational monologue, the speaker argues that business owners often experience profound loneliness because the people they interact with daily—employees, family members, and non‑business friends—cannot fully understand or share the unique fears, frustrations, and pressures of entrepreneurship. Employees lack the perspective to relate to the owner’s strategic anxieties, while family members expect the owner to fulfill personal roles and therefore cannot be a sounding board for business concerns. Friends outside the business world may be jealous, dismissive, or simply uninterested in business topics. To combat this isolation, the speaker advises owners to seek "business buddies" by joining masterminds, CEO groups, or similar peer networks. These groups provide both practical ideas and emotional support: members can laugh, cry, celebrate, and empathize because they share the same entrepreneurial experience. The core message is that true companionship for an entrepreneur comes from fellow business owners, not from employees, family, or unrelated friends.

A lot of the business owners that we work with say they're lonely. And I think that business owners might be some of the loneliest people on planet Earth. And it makes sense if you think about it, because who do we hang out with all day at work? Employees, right? Employees that just can't relate to what we're going through. We certainly can't express our actual fears and our actual concerns with them. So we don't really have anybody to talk to at work. And then when we go home, we have our family and we will want to be there for the family, want to be supportive. We don't want to scare them, so we can't really talk about all of our fears and frustrations with them. And even if we could, they're not business owners, they don't get it. So if you are feeling lonely as a business owner right now, you need to get yourself some business buddies. Business owners need business buddies, and I'm here to tell you, your employees, they are not your business buddies. Even the ones that you're friends with and can hang out with, they are still Not your business buddies. Your spouse, your partner, they're not your business buddies, all right? They need you just to be a dad or a wife or a mom, husband, like whatever it is, that's your role there. Your friends, definitely they're not your business buddies. If they're not in business, they are not your business buddies. You can talk about sports or the big game or anything like that, but you can't talk about business 'cause they're either jealous of you 'cause they think that you're crushing it even though deep down inside you're like, what the heck am I doing? Or they think you're a freaking idiot for starting this business in the first place. They don't get it. So if you're lonely, get yourself some business buddies. Get in a mastermind, get in a CEO group. These things, you're gonna get some ideas and that's a big part of it, but the main reason that you wanna join these different groups is so that you can get these friends around you who actually get you, who understand you, who you can laugh with, cry with, commiserate with, celebrate with. You need people who will clap for you and be happy for you. You need people who are gonna throw an arm around you when things just suck 'cause they get it. Too. So if you're lonely, get some business buddies.
