Hi everyone, this is Sachin Patel and welcome to another episode of Perfect Practice. Today I have a very special friend, colleague and fellow mentee of JJ Virgin's mastermind, Marizol Tajero. And Marisol is a naturopathic doctor in the Kitchener Waterloo area. She runs an amazing practice, so she's got a lot of practical tips that she's going to give us and share with me as well. I learn a lot from her every time we connect and she's going to share some tips on how to build your brand, how to build your practice, but she's also going to share with you her journey as the person who has really taken on this amazing, amazing challenge to improve the digestion of millions and millions of people all over the world with her amazing product line, which I'll have her share. And she is also known famously as the Queen of Thrones. I'm sure she'll tell us more about that as well. So look out for an amazing, action packed interview that's going to really light a fire on your butt. She's very, very inspirational and so to speak, there's going to be a lot of puns associated with the digestive system. She's just a real fun person to hang out with and with a name like Marisol, you can only imagine that she brings the sunshine and the light to the room. So thank you, Marisol. Thanks for being here today.
Oh, that's such a beautiful introduction. Thank you so much. Wonderful. Yeah, it's a pleasure to be here. I've seen all aspects of, you know, being in clinical practice from my first experience as a brand ambassador or a sales rep for a big natural pharmaceutical company known as Heal Right Canada. I'm sure many people are familiar with Traumeal and those products, and so I got to see early on the difference between functional medical practitioners, naturopathic doctors, medical doctors offices and how they function and how they coordinated. So I've been so blessed to be in this industry. So I'm sorry, thankful to be here to be able to share with everyone what I know.
Awesome. So just tell us what you noticed as you started out as a representative for Heal. What was the biggest difference that you noticed between the different types of practitioners? Because I'm sure there were probably some things in mindset, maybe even in the scope of practice or even whatever it is. But what are those characteristics that you find were unique amongst different professions?
So what I found was very interesting was that in the allopathic conventional medical system they were very one track mind. And of course we know this as functional naturopathic doctors that we tend to not be so one tracked. However, this I noticed when they wouldn't want to purchase product because it wasn't part of their typical prescriptions, they weren't willing to really go think outside of the box depending what their board would present to them. And then I noticed that the other spectrum was completely everywhere. So it was almost like there was no holds barred. Everything was, yes, like try everything, do different things. And what I think would be the ideal would be if we blended these practices. And that's what I tried to do in my practice was that I wanted to be very systematized the way that the medical allopathic systems were. But then I also wanted to have the freedom to find my specialty, which is what I ended up doing was that I found my specialty within the gut and within cleansing. And even more I got even more specific which is within castor oil packs and such. So, you know, I found that if the clinic and the functional medical practice was too all over the place, the message that they were giving to the people was diluted and that people really didn't know what they did, what they stood for or anything. They would call a naturopathic doctor, a homeopath or they, you know, they had no clue, no real idea because there was no real identity established. And when you go medical, you know, office, you know, the identity, you know, all the offices are identical. We have the exact same magazine sitting on the counter, you know, like woman's today. Like you've got the exact same magazine. You know, the receptionists are all unhappy. It's, you know, a little bit of a joke there. But you know, it's exactly the same thing in every single medical doctor's office. Not the case in natural and out of the condition. And that is beautiful. But I think what we do need to work on as functional doctors and naturopathic doctors is just to find what our own niches that we can properly present that to the public.
I can attest to that as a practitioner coach. We see that all the time. You know, a lot of practitioners, especially in the natural space, I find, tend to have, you know, shiny object syndrome. So there's one supplement that's introduced to them or one concept or idea that is introduced to them. I mean, a single podcast can completely change the trajectory of a practice, you know what I mean? So every week it's like there's a product of the week or product of the month or a problem or cause of the month. And so we do see that a lot in the functional medicine practice. And I love what you said, is that you were trying to blend the sterile mundaness of a typical allopathic practice with the character and add of a natural healthcare practice. Right. And so you found something in the middle that seemed to work really well for you and your focus was clearly digestion. So with that being said, and I know you had a thought there, which I want you to hit that. But what was it that really got you interested in digestion and detox?
Well, it's my life history, my story, right? You know, everything that we do, we do on purpose and by accident sometimes. So I have had an irritable bowel my entire life. My mother suffered it with her entire life. My father, you know, my mother was the irritable bowel constipation. My father was the opposite of diarrhea. And then I got both. So, you know, earlier on I was constipated, didn't know it, but because of it, I had health problems. I had elevated levels of stress and anxiety. I had, you know, asthma, so to say, later on in my earlier years, pcos. So, you know, the conditions just kept on accumulating. But the foundational problem was that my gut was not right and I started suffering with it a lot more, moving towards my later 20s. And that's when I was working for that company. And I decided, you know, I really want to go become a naturopath because I want to figure out the solution. I'd been to multiple doctors and, you know, they didn't really have many solutions for me. I had a lot of suggestions from places like health food stores and naturopathic doctors offices. And the funny thing was the biggest suggestion that I never took was that of you doing a castor opac to help my ibs. But I was not going to do it because it was too messy and scared me. And so then I go to naturopathic school, you know, spend $20,000 a year. And you know, every, every condition at the end of it, they're like, use a castor oil pack, use a castoril pack. I still didn't do it because it was just, you know, it just seemed like it was too messy and too much of a problem. And I remember in my third year I got drastically, drastically, like completely sick on my back. I couldn't get out of bed. Like chronic fatigue to the extreme. And I didn't understand why, because here I was, you know, I was exercising well, I was, you know, eating the naturopathic diet as we were learning it. I was taking the right supplements, I was following with a naturopath, all those things. But the problem was the stress levels at school were just out of this world. You know, anyone who's been in the naturopathic college, you know, like the strain is enormous and I really wasn't doing anything actively to address the stress and really get my stress levels balanced. And so this time that I was sick was when I actually ended up taking a castor oil pack and finally actually sewing one together because I didn't want to do it the old way, which was a bazillion different steps and super messy. I actually sewed up somewhat of a castor oil pack and I started doing the packs daily. And then that helped me along with supplements, diet, colon hydrotherapy. Like it wasn't a one shot deal, but I was doing all those things. But I hadn't added in the castor oil pack and the castor oil pack. What I ended up learning was that its ability to modulate stress is incredible in the system and its ability to actually re engage the parasympathetic state, which is actually where we heal. And without that re engagement of the parasympathetic state, patients of ours can be taking supplements, doing all types of fancy protocols, but they're not getting the healing that they really deserve or that they need to be having. And I saw this again replicated within my clinical practice because we started to develop these protocols called Helich clean it, which is a one month cleanse. And this is the point that I was going to say was that I wanted my clinical practice to have standard standardization so that we could run studies and we could do, you know, an evaluation of how well our protocols work. Because I wanted to have, you know, a backing as to why we're doing what we're doing, right? Because if we do it the same similar type of thing, of course, with individualization in each protocol, you know, we can track that we can follow it. All the practitioners in my clinic do the exact same thing. We all know the protocols, so it just really helps to solidify what's going on. And we actually, to that note, ended up doing a study. I had conceived this already from clinical practice because when I would put people on a healing cleaning cleanse, which is a four week protocol, you know, intensive supplementation, multivitamin, multimineral, B complex, antimicrobial, probiotic, alkalinization formula, zinc formula, zinc carnosine based formula. So it's a really intensive, you know, people are spending anywhere between 2 to $3,000 for this protocol. It includes IV therapy and it includes colon hydrotherapy once a week for four weeks. Some patients need to do a little bit more because their dysbiosis or their microbiome dysfunction is really severe. But what I would see is that usually when patients would do that, I would run a general lab testing beforehand and afterwards I'd always notice that the patients who I could see differences in their cholesterol and their CBC meat, there's awesome new markers for dysbiosis that you can see, like urea, uric acid, like it's, it's pretty incredibly incredible. And I would always see, I would know which patients hadn't done their castor oil packs. Because castor oil packs is my first prescription with every patient. And I always, every, every visit, I reinforce it. Are you doing your castor oil pack? Are you doing your castor oil pack? Because I eventually want patients not to be taking hundreds and hundreds of supplements. I would like them to be able to learn how to re engage that parasympathetic state that they're absorbing their food better, everything's digesting better, their supplements are absorbing better. So they need less, not more. Right. But I would always say, I'm like, so let me ask you, did you do your castoril packs? You know, and they'd be like, you know, I don't feel as good as you said I would or I don't. You know, I'm not noticing the difference. And I go, well, castoril packs, did you do them? They're like, no, no, I kind of let that go. I'm like, well, unfortunately you have to do the cleanse again because that is probably, that is the trigger, that is the needle mover of the cleanse. You know, it's not it alone though. You can't do castoriopak alone and get the benefit. You need to have that as the base and then add in the other tools that are going to support, like the metabolic functions, right. Like our phase one, phase two, detoxification, etc. So, you know, it really got me this, this, this just like stimulates me completely, makes me super excited and happy. We ended up doing a study last year and where we compared those things exactly the same to see the difference. And, you know, it's amazing because my whole life I have ended up in digestive or cleansing health like Keel. And people know them for traumial, but their actual specialty is something called homotoxicology, which is a study of toxins within the human system. So from my IBS to me working for a company who, although here, they promoted themselves as an anti inflammatory complex homeopathy company, their actual specialty was cleansing. And then to me, being sick and then starting in clinical practice and just having the patient population coming with all, like always the underlying problem was the digestive system and the GI tract. And so I just said, you know, I just want to specialize in this because to me, it's what I love to treat. I light up when I talk about the gut. People came to my practice because I was selling castor oil packs and because I was doing this funny little skit on poo, you know, so it was what created my practice. So it was because I was different. I had very personal knowledge to it. And because I specialized. Right. And I had no fear of people not coming to me. Like, I wouldn't take everybody. And to this day, you know, I don't see pediatric patients unless I treat the entire family. And the situation is very much connected to genetics. Otherwise I send them to my pediatrician naturopath. Right. Or my hormonal naturopath. Now, if the patient has underlying gut issue as part of their hormonal spectrum, I may see them. So I really try to focus on gut solely because it really does separate your practice. And people come to you for that. Like, that's the. At the end of the day, if you are not specialized, people have no idea, no idea what you stand for. And you have to polarize the rumble and you have to let them know exactly what you stand for and who you are and what you like to talk about and what you can help them with. Right.
Yeah, exactly. One thing I'll add to that, just, just so it's outspoken, is that you were highly vulnerable with your audience as well aware.
Yeah.
Sharing your story. And that's one of the things I've noticed with people who are really successful is they're not afraid to tell you about their ups and downs and the challenges that they faced. And it humanizes you so that people can relate. Right. You know, and that's a. That's a. You know, that's a characteristic that I think a lot of practitioners lack, you know, and it's not through their own fault because, like, when somebody goes to med school, it's training, it's usually. I mean, it's quite draining. But, you know, they go in there with the intention to be a doctor. They may not have experienced endocrine problems, or they may not have experienced digestive problems. I don't know if there's ever been a study done, but I wonder how many gastroenterologists have actually had debilitating digestive issues that they're typically diagnosing their clients with, because if they haven't, then they can't be empathetic towards the challenges that that population faces, nor do they have a story to hang their hat on. Right. So what I always encourage practitioners to do is exactly what you're doing, which is be vulnerable. You know, let people know that you understand them and that you can empathize with them and then double down on what you believe in. And that's exactly what you did, is you double down on what you believed in. You polarized your audience. So people know what you stand for, what you stand against, and they know not to mess with you. Right?
Yeah. They know I'm going to fix their gut. They'll be pooping perfectly. Yeah.
That brings me to the next. I had wrote down a couple of notes while you were talking. I think that, you know, getting parasympathetic is probably the. One of the most effective healing tools. And I'd be curious, and maybe this is something we can work on together. But that's one of the reasons we use reishi in our practice clinically, because of its ability to tonify the nervous system, specifically the central nervous system. So it gets people into more parasympathetic state. It's also great for detoxification. So I'm curious now, you've got my wheels turning on whether you feel that maybe ganoderma, which is reishi, mushroom and castor oil packs combined, could have a synergistic effect or if it would be overkill. I don't know. But that was one of the things that was going through my head.
Yeah, I would say yes, because it's the same thing as meditation. So for a lot of our patients, like my. My end game is always teaching my patients meditation. So if my patient has been with me for A year. They're. They're then booked in for an autonomic nervous system, an autogenic training or meditation with me because they need. They need that. Bottom line, I want to fix people. I want people to basically just come and see me when something is off because they know so well how to fix themselves to the point that most of my patients now, I've been in practice for nine, 10 years, they actually just book in their cleanses twice a year. They book in their heal it, clean it. I'm in clinic not often, and every once in a while I'll do some Skype calls with patients. But my patients are very familiar with what they need to do to manage their health. And here and there they'll have a little thing happen, but they know what to do because they are doing all these established baselines in the meditation. So for patients, for their meditation to work better, we actually have them learn how to do the meditation with castor oil packs because of the switching quickly, because the castor oil pack, the thing with it is this, is that the minute you. The skin is an amazing tool for treatment, and we can't often utilize it very easily because, number one, our patients can't have a massage therapist at home all the time massaging them. They can't do their own acupuncture at home. So castor oil packs are a way for them to use the skin. Because the skin is a neurological tissue, right? It has receptors that senses sensation and these sensations on the skin, when you place a pack on a certain area, what you're doing is you're actually stimulating, like the afferent nerves, and you're stimulating the parasympathetic ganglion. And from there, you're stimulating all the internal organs in the digestive tract, right? And so that is the key factor with the castor oil pack, that it's like an escape button for the nervous system. So from the sympathetic state straight on into the parasympathetic state. So if you were to add something like a ganoderma reishi mushroom or whatever, gaba, something that we use in our clinic a lot, right? Whatever your favorite neurological comment is, you just enhance that neurological comment likely tenfold, because you'll immediately have a switch into the parasympathetic state with the castoril pack. And then when you take whatever supplement, your absorbability is better. I mean, everything is better. The castoril pack not only targets the parasympathetic state, but then it does another four things where it reduces inflammation in the central core. It Improves your glutathione status. It actually helps with recycling of glutathione, which, like, we know, it's so hard to get glutathione in our system. Number three, it breaks down biofilm, so your microbiome can re establish a lot better. And then number four, via your prostaglandins in your intestine, it actually stimulates smooth muscle movement and also will move smooth muscle in the uterus. So one of the contraindications is if you're pregnant and you haven't ever used castor oil packs, probably not a good time to start them. Right? But if our patients, as an example, if they have been doing castor oil packs and then they're pregnant, we still keep them on castor oil packs because their body is very used to it. No different than, you know, if they're doing hot yoga and they become pregnant, but they've done hot yoga five days a week for their entire life. I'm like, that's fine. Your body's accustomed to that. If anything feels off, maybe then don't go, but until then, you're fine. Right. Like when I have a patient, without divulging too much of their information, but, you know, they're a hot yoga teacher, you know, they do two, three, four classes and, you know, they carry a pregnancy perfectly well, you know, still teaching throughout their entire pregnancy. So, you know, it just depends on the person. But that's. Those are the key factors with, you know, switching to Paris in the United States. So I would. I would say, yes, that it would be an awesome coordination together.
So it's almost like functional medicine in a bottle when you think about it.
Yeah. Well, what castor oil packs are, and this is what I'm presenting at quite a few international conferences this year in England and Connecticut. And my presentation is the new standard on stool. What we've been doing is. We've been doing. What Louis Pasteur did at the beginning of his profession is he was chasing the bug, he was chasing the bacteria, he was chasing the virus, he was chasing the yeast, the parasite. And on his deathbed, Louis Pasteur said, it's not about the bug, it's about the terrain. Yes, there is no better functional medicine tool or naturopathic tool than the castor oil pact to address the terrain. Because those five things I think about it, inflammation, glutathione, moving the bowels. So you're eliminating endotoxicity right away. Right. You're switching over into the parasympathetic state. You're Resetting the microbiome. Like, you're actually not even resetting the microbiome. You're breaking down the biofilm. That is the barrier to being able to reset the microbiome. So those are. That's huge and profound. Actually, what I'm trying to teach and I'm trying to get people to think about more is to not just look at it as a microbiome. The microbiome. Because people are taking probiotics like they used to take antibiotics. Right. In a way. Like, think about that. So if what we want to look at and we want to continue to emphasize is the terrain. And I'm so grateful for my experience at heat and with homotoxicology in my training in Germany, because that gave me that concept of the terrain. And I remember hearing in my time at HEAL about Louis Pasteur and how he was always looking at the bug, but on his deathbed, he was like, the terrain, the terrain, the terrain.
Right.
So that's what we need to think of as practitioners.
Yeah. And the one thing that you said that really strikes a chord with me is whenever you can get somebody parasympathetic, you automatically activate the body and put it into a healing state. So now all of the systems, all of the cells, the organs are operating in that rest, digest, restore, regenerate mode, as opposed to being in this chronically sympathetic dominant state.
Yeah, it's our first tenant of naturopathic medicine. Right. Engage the vital force. Castor, opac. There you go. Or massage or, you know, like. Or meditation or. Right. So the thing is, a lot of our patients aren't willing to try meditation. They're scared of meditation. It takes them a long time to get there. You know, massage they'll do, but they won't do it often enough. And we need to train the parasympathetic state in our bodies at least daily. Right. So we need to do something daily to get our parasympathetic in gear. Because if not, what's happening is that people are so in sympathetic drive that that's their normal, and that's what they love. That's what they're addicted to. They don't even know what a parasympathetic state and how good that feels. Like. I remember doing my, like, my first packs and just being like, oh, my God, like, what is this? Like, I feel great. Like, not even great. Like, at first I felt uncomfortable because I'm like, this feels, like, too good to be true. But, you know, now it's like. Like, I love my packs. Like, it's the first thing I put in my luggage. Like, I'm like, I need my Castro pack. Where's my castor oil pack? Like, on my last trip, I actually, I should have brought two packs because I was doing photoshoot at the end of my trip, and so I didn't do my packs for the first two or three days. And I was like, oh, no, I hate this. I should have just like brought two packs. And you know, because it really. When you. You need to relearn and like an Olympian athlete, you need to retrain yourself into a parasympathetic state more often.
Right?
Yeah.
Have you ever done any studies on people using castor oil and heart bath? Like, has that?
No, but that would be very interesting to see and actually to do. Right. Because of the effect, like, you'd be able to measure the parasympathetic state. I'm definitely open to it. What we're going to be doing this year moving forward is we're going to be actually doing a poo standardizing scale because of my other work on top of castor oil packs, which is that I'm trying to create a new standardized stool scale that there are 11 measures that we should be looking and understanding of our stools, because with this, our patients could very well have better indications as to what is going on in their system and in their bodies, and then they would be able to better assess their health and go to the right practitioner that they need to. So really just trying to empower our patients, because the most, in my opinion, I'm sure you've seen this too, is the most successful practitioners that are out there are those that empower their patients because they get the biggest and the best raving fans. And it's those raving fans that actually build your practice, more so than any marketing that you do out there. And so if you can absolutely focus on trying to get your patients so better that they don't need to see you, but that they come back to your clinic to use your tools and use your treatments and to come see your staff because they. It feels like home. That's where your practice is going to survive and thrive and not be like the desperate isolation that it can become if you are really just like, scared of losing patience. And one thing to top that off, my best thing I ever learned after all the functional stuff I learned in my job at Heal was that when I had my full schedule available to doctors, no one would book me in to come and train them. Then at one doctor's office, I went in and I said, I'd like to book a training with your doctor. And she's like, oh, I'm not sure I'll go. Well, I'm booked for three months with all these other doctors. So if you'd like to book, you could book in four months from now. And that created a need and an urgency and I would get more bookings and people would commit to those appointments. And when I first started my practice, I did exactly the same thing. Yeah. So that's a good little tip. If someone's new in their practice, just you need to create a need and an urgency. And you know that. Oh my God. Everybody else wants us to like, you have to so do that in your practice. That has been for even my new naturopaths as well too. The best thing that we could have done for them as well too, because it helped them to build their practice quickly. Because then again they were like, oh. Because when we have the dichotomy of a new doctor coming in and myself with my practice that I book four or five, six months. Right. They'd be like, well, I want to be with a doctor who has four to six month wait list because she's better. Right. So that's, it's the whole perception of things. So just a little tip on the side.
No, that's a great little pointer there. And one thing I wanted to ask you about is, and I do want to ask you about the protocol for Castrel and talk more about the products that you've created as well. So don't let us forget that.
Yes, yes.
Do you do any lab testing then with your patients, like stool testing or anything like that that you care to share?
I do. So I'm not big, ironically, don't do much of the stool testing. What I tend to do more of is because I treat very functionally, so I do full lab panels. And from that I can see a lot about with regards to dysbiosis. And I can actually track how they're doing on a cleanse. And then my two other favorite lab tests are the oats test. I just love the oats test because it shows our body how our body's processing things. And it'll give me a measure as well too of dysbiosis, like in terms of, you know, candida and clostridium. And then, you know, if there's any other problems like oxalates and such. And then my other favorite test is the Dutch panel. And I love the Dutch panel because I love seeing the, the gut is the hub of the immune system, the nervous system and the hormonal system. Right. So I feel in that way, if I'm testing the oats test, I'm testing the nervous system because there's a lot of neurological transmitters. I'm testing some other functional aspects. In the Dutch test there, I'm getting all the hormone spectrum. So I'm really seeing how the hormone, the hormones are interacting with the gut. Plus they have some extra little amazing markers like the 8G, which is a great marker of oxidation and you know, like your predisposition for like cancers and more chronic disease. So I use that yearly with patients. I test them yearly just to track them in terms of their risk factors. And then with the, with the conventional labs, I get a boatload of information which, like, just incredible. Like I really have learned how to read the labs to the minutia and to really get more information than you'd even imagine. So that's all that I really test. I shied away from the gut testing because I found the gut testing microbiome, same thing. I didn't want to chase after the bug. And when I would do the stool testing, I would still treat my patients the exact same way. So I was like, why am I having patients do this extra testing when I'm already having to do a lot of testing? So they're already investing in their health and I'm getting better understanding and I'd rather retest those tests than. Because I always preface with my patients that this is not a one time test. We are going to be retesting this a lot. And I say that on the first time I offer it to them. Oh, and food sensitivity testing. I always do food sensitivity testing. So those three oats, food sensitivity testing and then Dutch test and then the panel, the full panel of blood work.
Okay, so before we forget, because you have something important coming up in a few minutes here, so I want to honor your time, but tell us more about the products you've created and how, you know, how we can use them. My wife uses them, so I'm going to start using them.
Yes, please.
That was on my list. And when we met in January, I said, I'm going to start using this stuff when I come back. So I've been looking forward to this call because I want you to tell us how to best leverage the castor oil and tell us more about your products and if we're interested in learning more about maybe wholesaling them out of our practices and carrying them in our practices for our patients. And I'd love for you to share that as well.
Absolutely. So the goal of my Queen of the Thrones platform is to really teach and educate the patient and the general public and practitioners as well too. And to have great tools and to become stool savvy, basically. So the castor oil pack being that foundational treatment in the terrain, I took basically my nine years of practice. What the problems were with the castor oil pack, the first pack that I created, and this pack is like the evolution of it and is super easy to use. So it comes in a very easy to keep container, nice and portable. And what it is, it's a beautiful organic cotton flannel and it's all set up and it's made to fit your abdomen and to attach onto your body. So what used to be like a 12 step process is now literally down to two steps. You pour the oil, you blot it and you put it on the body. That's it. So super, super easy for people to do. So I just wanted the castor oil pack to be simple and compliant. Okay. Because my biggest problem was always compliance with patients. And with it with the packs, the easier I made the packs, the more compliant my patients have become. My patients all love this pack over my first pack version because of course when you make something secondary, you make it better.
Right?
Then we of course bottled castor oil in an organic and glass bottle because a lot of castor oil out there on the market is in plastic. And that's a huge problem because castor oil pulls things and moves things and it's an absorbable, it's a carrier. Like it's a, it's one of the best carrier oils that exists because it does grab onto things because of its molecular structure. In fact, castor oils molecular structure is very similar. The ricinoleic acid fatty acid chain is actually probably similar to prostaglandins, the anti inflammatory variety in our body. So it is an incredible molecule that is very synergistic with the human system, but it also will grab plastic if you put it into a plastic bottle. So I always encourage people to only buy it in glass dark bottle. So that's what we did. So because I use this, all these are all my products that I use for myself. So they have to be excellent. So this is our organic castor oil in a glass bottle. We carry it in three different sizes or 500ml is one I recommend with people they're doing the castor oil packs because I mean, I'll be finished this in about two and a half weeks to a month if I'm doing them regularly. Right. My castor oil packs. Then we took it one step further where we wanted people to learn about their stools and understand their stools and have cool, fun things that they can, you know, teach themselves about their stool and practice. Good stuff. So this is our newest product coming out, which is the Grateful Dung Beatle bracelet. The dung beetle actually is very symbolic in Egyptian culture, where it symbolizes rebirth, recreation, and renewal because the dung beetle has the most, you know, what job it has. It rolls dung all day, poo all day long. This is what it does, right? But it is so valuable because when he rolls that dung, what he does is it allows for the lotus seed to be placed there, and then the lotus flower can grow. And the lotus flower is olive lech, Right? So without that, there would be nothing. Without the dung beetle rolling the poo and making a home, there would be no life and no creation. So we use this dung beetle bracelet in two ways. One way, it's made of tiger's eye, and tiger's eye is a stone that actually affects the third chakra. So your solar plexus chakra. And then we've got the black obsidian, which is a lower chakra stone. So they, number one, will help with regulation of those chakras, which are straight in the digestive system. But the color of the tiger's eye is actually the perfect colors of your stools. So it's a stool gauge. So you look at your bracelet and you try to find if your stool fits on that gauge. We also use it, as I said, grateful dung, as a grateful practice bracelet. Before your meals, we asked our patients to look at, find three stones that you can see the tiger's eye, and on each stone make a grateful prayer. So you could say before your meal, I am happy to be having a podcast with Sachin today, or I am enjoying my tea before my lunch, or, wow, I am so grateful to have a beautiful salad with salmon. Right. Gratitude is also something that moves us into the parasynthetic state. So the more often that we can practice the gratitude, the better that we are off. So this is our other little cool tool. Then we did our odathrone, which is the after you poo parfum. And this is, of course, a little bit of a gaggy, but it's phenomenal because it is all organic. It's clove, essential oils, rosemary essential oils, lavender, citrus. It smells phenomenal. It's in a glass bottle because the other sprays that are out there all are in plastic. And I just like to avoid that, especially with the organic essential oils. And we use it as an after you poo parfum, not a before you go. Because we want you to actually smell your stools because that's another key indicator of your health. And we also want you to look at your stools, so we want you to poo peek and then perfume. Right? So that's another one of our educational tools. And then to wrap it all up, sleep is another important factor that helps with getting into a parasympathetic state. And so we have a cosmetic castor oil kit which comes with an awesome eye mask. Because when you wear an eye mask to go to bed, what happens is the. Like the castor oil pack. Just by putting material on the area around your eye, this stimulates the pituitary gland to produce melatonin. So little life hacks that are, you know, inexpensive to do, easy to do, just take practice. That's all it does. They just take practice. And so many of these are key foundational tools that people could have in their home and wear on them and carry them around and have them in order to really be practicing the practice behind what will set up their terrain. And then they can add in all the great supplements and all those things. I've always found you need to get the practices established first and then the rest will fall into play.
This is super awesome. This has been very enlightening, and I do want to share a really great story because I think it's a testament to the power of castor oil. We had one of my practitioners, Dr. Brar, his uncle was in the hospital and they were diagnosing him with a bowel obstruction and they were ready to cut him open. And Dr. Bragg called my wife Deepa and said, hey, Deepa, this is the situation. What do I do? And Deepa said, put some castor oil on his abdomen and lovingly rub it into his abdomen right in a counterclock in a clockwise fashion. And the nurse, when the nurse came in and said, hey, we're ready to take him away, they said, no, we don't want to. We're using castor oil. She basically wrote him off and said, good luck to you. Basically telling him he was going to die. Right? Like in so many words. And two hours later, you walked out of the hospital. It's amazing. An amazing testament to take somebody who's on the brink of having parts of their abdomen removed and an hour later, just like perfectly fine.
I feel such A connection to this oil. And I just. It was losing its momentum in our profession and is one of the reasons why I really felt it was important. I mean, the class that I took at the school was, you know, they spoke maybe for five minutes on castor oil packs. They spoke about it in every condition, but they never talked about it. Really talked about it. So now it's the point where at the National Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, I teach a six hour class on Castrol packs. Right. So I brought out the research. I'm promoting it out there because, you know, of course there's, there is financial benefit because I'm on a mission. I need to pay for studies and I need to do these things. But the purpose of it is to keep those great things in our practice that really are the needle movers and the game changers and things that we just can't lose because they are legendary. Right. These things are. Have been around for eons, like Reishi mushroom eons. There's a reason.
Absolutely. Thank you. Thank you so much, Maricel. This has been very enlightening. Where can people learn more about you? And also where can practitioners learn more about how to get a hold of some of these products?
Awesome. So Dr. Marisol.com. so it's D R M A R I s O L and Dr. Marisol D R M A R I S O L CA So whether you're Canadian or in the the States, we have both an affiliate program and a wholesale program. So if people want to have the product shipped to their clients, they can do that. Or if they want to bring them in house, they can do that as well too. And we also love working with different practitioners and coordinating our online program if they want to affiliate on that as well too. Because we have our excellent program called the Digestive Reset, which is basically one hour easy to digest program. It's the five steps and it includes all of these different products and it's basically like a terrain rebalancing program. And then above and beyond that, you can recommend your supplements and go from there. So if you want to get started in that aspect, you can do that with us as well too. Yeah, we're here to help and we're here to change the world. And we have to be in 1 billion bathrooms by 2020. So I need all your help.
Okay, well, let's do it. I'm committed to helping you. I'm getting the message out there. Thank you so much again for your generosity, for your time and certainly your passion. It very much shines through, and I'm looking forward to getting started myself. Casseroles help my wife tremendously and people around me. It's part of our Indian culture, so I'm excited to see it make a huge resurgence because it's such a simple tool that can help a lot of people. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
You're welcome. Thank. You.
