Hello, everyone. Welcome to Perfect Practice. This is your host, Sachin Patel. Thanks for joining me today. I'm really thrilled because I've got a dear friend and somebody who I deeply admire and is a part of my life virtually every single day, and that is Jodi Cohen. Jodi, thanks for being here today.
Thank you so much for having me. I know, I feel the same way. It's like kindred spirits.
Well, I appreciate the amazing work that you're doing. You're an expert in essential oils, and I would say a lot of things. And I think people who are listening to this conversation are going to get tremendous amounts of value. I do want to mention that you're the founder of Vibrant Blue Oils. An oil that I use every single day is the parasympathetic oil you and I recently met in person. You know, we've known each other for years, but we recently had a chance to hang out at Mindshare and you were offering these tiny little bottles. And I'll be honest, I grabbed a whole bunch of them because a, I think they're super cute, I love the color, but more importantly, I love the product.
Oh, thank you.
It's something that I use. My wife uses it, my son uses it, and if you've got it at home, how meta would it be for our listeners to put a little dab on as they listen to this conversation and just kind of hang out with us over the next 30 to 40 minutes as we talk about essential oils and life and all the amazing things that you're up to and how we can get your message out there to the world so that practitioners or even the average person who's listening to this call can really help themselves or help other people in their lives using your amazing products and more importantly, your amazing knowledge.
Oh, thank you. Well, I think I try to do oils differently because I've realized they're really easy tools for accessing the brain. And to that point, as People are listening. Please don't get into a stress state trying to write down everything. We're going to give you a link at the end so that you can have access to pretty much everything I'm telling you. So you can just really relax and take this in a parasympathetic. Relaxed, yes.
I love that. And thanks for creating that resource because I know that there's so many nuggets whenever I hear anyone speak about essential oils. But with you, every time I speak it's a completely different perspective. So let's just get right into this. Let's talk about first and foremost how you got into essential oil. Yeah, tell us that story.
It was, you know, I think necessity is the mother of invention. I was going through a particularly dark period. My now ex husband needed to be hospitalized and my babies were super little. And I had poured so much energy into supporting him that once I knew he was kind of safe and it wasn't my job to keep him safe, my adrenals collapsed and I could barely get out of bed. I'd kind of get up, make my kids breakfast, pack their lunch, help with homework, get them to school, come home and sleep until I had to pick them up. And that was so not sustainable because I had a job and they had to be fed and driven and all these things. I had been in the nutritional world for about five years at that point, so I was helping other people. I knew how to test for adrenals and all of my regular go tos just weren't helping enough. They weren't getting me out of that kind of rock bottom place. And friends came over with a bunch of essential oils and said, these are going to help you. And then they left. And I thought, well, I know how to test supplements and I know it's my adrenals. Why don't I just test and see if something in here will help my adrenals? Five things tested well. I created my first blend, my adrenal blend. I put it over my adrenals on my low back and for the first time in two weeks, I felt like myself. It was like that moment if you've ever kind of been caught with the undertow and you think you might drown and then suddenly you get washed up to shore, you know there's sand in your mouth, you're covered everywhere, your bathing suit might be falling down, but you're alive and you're like, oh my God, I'm alive. So that was really profound. And I got more done in that one day than I had in the previous two weeks, I went on a run, I took a shower, I went to the supermarket, I made their favorite meal, I did all the laundry, I put all the laundry away, I cleaned the house. It was like me again. And then that night I got them to bed. And as was typical at that stage, I was lying in bed, totally insomniac, and I'm like, huh, I wonder if I can do something to trigger my pineal gland to release melatonin. And it was that kind of curiosity and knowing specifically the organ system that I wanted to balance and then using oils to do that. Because we know oils work as adaptogenic herbs and that's what's so what I love about them. Unlike pharmaceutical drugs. It's not like you're saying, oh, my adrenals are over producing cortisol, let's bring it down, or oh, my adrenals are under producing. You're not guessing. It's just wherever your adrenals are at, it brings them back into balance. And that's what I think is the beauty of plants. And what oils do in plants is they move water to where it's needed, they scab up where it's damaged, they just address what's needed in a very gentle, non invasive way. I have realized that oils can do that in our bodies. And so many people are using them in such a symptom, chasing surface way, which is not bad, it's not hurting anyone. But there's so much more that you can use them for, especially for areas that are really hard to reach with supplements and diet alone, you know, like moving the lymphatic system or the circulatory system, or activating the parasympathetic state of the nervous system, or even getting through the blood brain barrier because they're really small and fat soluble.
I love that a term that came up as you were talking about that. Is it intelligent?
So why is that?
But you know, very gentle on the body. Because they work with the body. Right? They don't.
Yes.
You don't force the body to do something it's not capable of. And you know, when we interact with, you know, let's call them nature's creations for lack of better term. And we are nature's creation, regardless of what we believe in. You know, we are part of a bigger consciousness. Right. And so there's an intelligence in that consciousness and if it can help the plant and we're, you know, related to the plant by, through this innate intelligence, we'll call it, then there's this interaction that takes place. That's different than a pharmaceutical drug, right?
Exactly, exactly. Have you ever read the book the Secret Life of Trees and how.
Oh, you're not, you're not going to believe this. I was actually at the bookstore the other day and I was taking, you know, pictures of books that I want to read and that was one of them.
Oh, it's a great book. But it really speaks to that. It talks about how trees communicate actually through send. That's why forest bathing or spending time in nature is so beneficial. They tell the downstream trees, you know, predators coming, be protective. So we are. Nature is very collaborative and we're designed to be collaborative. And I do like the intelligence. Gentle. That's fabulous. But one thing that's interesting, like I love food based healing. I think it's amazing if you can, you know, get your flavonoids to heal your gut from your food and not just supplements, but sometimes you need a little bit of a megadose. Like if you're super deficient in B12, you might need B12. Injection oils are super concentrated. So sometimes if you really are looking for a megadose and balancing, they're a very gentle but powerful way to get it.
Awesome. So oils saved your life?
Yeah, they really did. For me, it was really about helping me stay in resilience because that's, that's the one thing I've realized is, you know, life is going to happen. You can't determine the weather outside. You can't determine the stock market unfortunately can't always determine your elected officials. But you can control your own response. So you can choose like, okay, it's snowing and I live in Seattle and we're really not designed for the snow. So I guess I'm just not gonna drive this week and that's gonna be fine. And you can have a perfectly happy, successful week and just accommodate it and flow with it. And I think that the key to that is being in what you call heart rate variability, coherence, the parasympathetic state. It's controlling your nervous system and your response to the external world so that what happens externally does not have as big of an impact on you. And if you can control that, then you can really control everything. Because so much of your ability to heal, to anti inflame, to detoxify, to turn on your nervous system is really based on your ability to kind of not be overwhelmed by the external stressors and still allow your body to function.
I love everything that you're saying because this is very much in coherence no pun intended, with what we try to get across to the clients that we coach, but then also the clients that we work with, as, you know, let's call them health clients, for lack of better terminology. They're not necessarily patients because what we're teaching them to do is how to master their own health. I'm not doctoring them back to health, but I'm giving them tools like your essential oils, like lifestyle strategies, like quantitative measurements like Oura Ring or hrv, to let them know the state of their nervous system, because that's what ultimately determines their health. And I want to just kind of gently touch on something you talked about which is controlling our nervous system. And really we've got to be in control of what's controlling it, because if we're trying to control an overactive nervous system, we're still kind of in a reactionary state. And I know that before we started recording, we talked about the limbic brain. And I'd love to talk a little bit about that because how oils affect the limbic part of the brain and the neocortex is quite profound. You know, we talked, you talked about how they cross the blood brain barrier. But let's talk a little bit more about the effect that it has on the brain once they do get across that barrier.
Yeah, well, it's interesting. I mean, it's kind of like the right lock to unlock the right key. Like all of our brain cells and cellular membranes are fat based. And so this is one of the problem with endocrine disrupting toxins, right? They get in there and they kind of confuse the receptors and so the right signals don't get through. And so it's healthy fats in our diet, the omega 3s, the omega 6s, and then healthy oils that can also get into our system, not necessarily through the digestive channel, but as we're talking about the prefrontal cortex, our olfactory channel goes directly to the cortex. It's the most accessible point of brain cells in the body. And it's also interesting as you know, usually with the brain, it's the right side that affects the left body or vice versa. With the olfactor channel, the right nose goes directly to the right frontal cortex. And so what I went through, that wasn't my first rodeo. When my ex husband was hospitalized, I had a really traumatic experience about 18 months ago where my son was killed in a car accident. And my first thought was, how do I survive this? And then my second thought was to see my daughter looking at me and saying, what do I do? And I realized that I really needed to find a way to navigate this and present as in control, because she was watching me. And how I navigated this was not going to only affect me, but my only living child. And so I became acutely aware, hyper aware, you might say, of what helped me and what made me feel worse. And I started really honing in on that. And almost like, you know, rats that navigate a maze, that realize, okay, dead end. I'm going to avoid that. And the most obvious and apparent thing to me was when I was able to do something that felt very scary or required a lot of concentration, I felt better. And I thought, that's very interesting. I wonder why that is. And it turns out it's because the part of your brain that helps you focus when things are scary or concentration is required is your frontal cortex kind of right behind your forehead. And that has a very strong relationship with the part of your brain called the amygdala that is dangerous sensing. And the best example I heard for this is they're in constant communication. Your walking in the woods and you think you see a snake. That's your amygdala saying, oh, gosh, danger. And then it checks with your frontal cortex, and the cortex says, oh, no, that's a stick. You're fine. And so you need that strong communication in order for the frontal cortex to kind of dampen those alarms, because otherwise you're going to be in anxiety and stress all the time. And so I realized that things like tasks that required concentration, tasks that were hard, then even things like applying oils over the head. If we hurt ourselves or we have a headache, we tend to do this. It's because it draws blood flow there. When you put oils on your cortex, it draws blood flow. The more I could try to. It was almost like a manual gear shift, shift gears so that things were in the front brain and not in the amygdala, the happier I felt. But in order to do that, I needed to really be grounded in that state of heart coherence and kind of shift into the parasympathetic state of the nervous system. So I do that. I'm allowed to overshare. I have an oil blend. It's cloven Lyme. And the reason I picked those two is because the on off switch between your sympathetic and your parasympathetic state is your vagus nerve. It's cranial nerve number 10. It wanders, starts behind the neck of the brainstem, goes behind both sides of the ears, and Goes through, innervates all of the muscles in the throat and the face and winds through every organ of digestion and is the information highway between the brain and the body. It's able to help the body shift gears between the sympathetic. We're in danger. All blood flow needs to, to be routed to limbs and muscles so you can escape quickly and recovery danger has passed. We can now send blood back to the organs of digestion and detoxification. We can turn the immune system back on. And it's most accessible to the surface right behind the ear. Like if you put your finger behind your earlobe right there and feel that bone, that's where it's the most accessible. There are lots of ways that you can turn on your vagus nerves. Some are easy and pleasant, like yoga or meditation or deep breathing. Some are more challenging like gagging yourself or splashing your face with freezing water. Coffee enemas. This to me felt very easy. Clove is super stimulatory. What most people don't realize, and this is good and bad, is that anything you apply to your skin gets in your bloodstream in 20 minutes. So that's why, you know, toxic face cream can be damaging or cleaning products, but it can also be really beneficial. There are certain oils that are super stimulatory, like clove, which means that they stimulate that nerve. They've got kind of like pacemakers that they implant to stimulate it, which is fine unless the battery runs out and it requires surgeries, which leaves scars. But this just felt like a really easy natural way and almost like a, a nice ritual, you know, to get into.
When is the best time? Because that's probably the natural question people are going to have. When is the best time to apply that oil? Is it prior to meals? Is it at bedtime? Is it first thing in the morning? Is it before you start studying or sit down and do some work? When would you say is the parasympathetic oil most therapeutic?
Well, definitely before meals because it helps you switch into that digestive state. That was my biggest, you know, if you don't know what, you don't know. Like I spent years buying all organic food and cooking nutrient dense whole meal foods for my children that I would try to shove down their throat before we got in the minivan to race to soccer practice. I wish I had known that by making them rush to eat, they weren't actually assimilating the nutrients. So I think how you eat is almost more important than what you eat. So if you have to prioritize, I Would say, absolutely. Apply it before meals.
Amazing. I love that. And then, I know we've had previous discussions where you talked about another oil that you rub on the front of your neck that kind of complements the parasympathetic blend, and it's called lymph lens. You want to talk about that?
Yeah. So another thing, I mean, it's. You know, as a practitioner, you have all these blind spots. Like, there are certain things that, you know, work really well, and there are certain things that are like, God, I wish there was a better way to move lymph. Like, I just haven't found the right supplement for that, you know, and people are not super compliant with dry brushing. I wonder why. You know, sometimes they'll put castor oil on. But what I found is it's really interesting. In plants, oils actually help flow of fluids. You know, like, we think about it, plants are rooted in the ground, and somehow, in some cases, the leaves are, like, hundreds of feet in the air, and somehow things move. And so you can use oils to help open up the vasculature of the neck and actually help with drainage. And this is one of the big bottlenecks, is so many of us have toxicity in the brain, be it from metal amalgams or pathogens or inhaling nanoparticles that wind up in the brain, and it's really hard. They might be mobilized, but it's hard for them to leave the neck.
The.
The bottleneck of kind of getting toxins out of the brain is the neck. So anything that you can do to open up that neck channel is amazing. And essential oils are a really great tool for that because they kind of open and dilate and help to expand. It's interesting. Our colleague Christine Schaffner has been doing some research with the concept of vagus nerve toxicity. She's noticed that 95% of their patients that are chronically ill have some. Some kind of vagus nerve toxicity, which means the vagus nerve isn't firing, which means digestion isn't turning on. And that's when you start to see the beginning of dysfunction. And they believe it's from, like, amalgams or cavitations. You know, if you think about any kind of toxicity in the mouth, drains along the trigeminal nerve, you know, and then kind of intersects the vagus nerve. And so it can get congested here right by the earlobe and the vagus nerve, and toxins in the nerves can then travel into the brain. So how do you detoxify the nerve that's another great thing for essential oil especially. That's another reason I picked clove, because clove was used throughout the centuries in dentistry to kind of clean the mouth and detoxify the mouth. So you don't even need to ingest it. You can just topically apply it. And it helps to kind of decongest, you know, the vagus nerve so that there's more space available for drainage.
I love that, you know, growing up from an, in an Indian family, like these are ancient remedies that, you know, my parents and grandparents and great grandparents have been using for decades. And really all my life we kind of. Well, not all my life, but in the beginning half of my life we were, you know, so bought into pharmaceuticals and that this ancient wisdom and technology and intelligence was not. Didn't stand a chance, right? But now we're coming full circle and learning that there is really deep wisdom in these plants and oils and the amazing things that they can do for our bodies. My mother in law, giving her a quick little shout out here, she has cloves in her car. So she has this, you know, you know how like some people have those gum containers. So she's got one of those like 60 pack gum containers, but when you open it up, there's no gum in there, it's all cloves. And so she puts a clove in her mouth every day because it's great for your dental health, as you mentioned. And I know that when you put it in oil, it turns out it's also great for detoxing and getting.
You know, what I've been doing actually that I didn't realize is additive and cumulative. I've been doing oil pulling with essential oils. This is our friend Katie Wells, wellness mama has a recipe. It's half a cup of coconut oil and then 30 drops of. I've been trying both peppermint and clove. I like peppermint a little bit better because the thing with oil pulling, you put the oil in your mouth and swish it around for 20 minutes. And if it tastes yucky, you don't tend to want to keep it in your mouth. But she suggested those little candy trays, you just do the coconut oil with peppermint and put it in a candy tray and it hardens and you just pop it in your mouth in the morning. So I do it while I'm making coffee and making my daughter breakfast. And it's amazing, but I can tell a difference over time. So the more you do it, the more it builds. And that's another thing I like about essential oils. I've been noticing a trend that everything is additive and cumulative. And so some things, like a colonic is great for you, but it's hard to do. Right. Whereas an Epsom salt bath is pretty easy. If you have a bathtub, you can do that most nights. If you have oils, it's pretty easy. So I almost feel like it's not the big hard things, it's the, you know, small little things that you do every day that have a cumulative effect.
Yeah. It's the compound effect. Right. And we can use oils, you know, kind of very non invasively and get to, you know, curate this amazing, you know, information provider. Yeah. Create this balance for us and we. And instantaneously, like within. Within and instantaneously. You can smell the oil and there's a feeling associated with it in the limbic brain. And there's also signaling that's taking place at an unconscious level. And then within 20 minutes, it's everywhere in your body that you need it to be and gets crossed barriers that are typically difficult to get through and creates an action on them. So I've always been fascinated by essential oils and I love the dialogue and conversation that we're having here because it's. It really opens up the. You know, it addresses the concern of pill burden because that's something that we have to kind of come face to face with as practitioners is even if a supplement is awesome, well, it can get expensive if you have to keep taking it. Right. So that's one thing. And also, people are tired of taking pills. So nobody comes into our office and says, hey, I want more pills, even if they're natural, even if they're free. Like, people don't want more pills, they want less pills. And they. And this really solves a challenge that many practitioners might be encountering. And we actually have a pilless program in our practice. So we have one of the first ever, I think, functional medicine programs that involves no pills. And so this is a great addition for our clients to be able to, you know, to stay true to our message, but then also give them a powerful tool that can exert an effect on their body.
No, I think you can do a lot with diet and lifestyle. It's funny, when my son Max first died, a friend said to me, all you need to do is sleep, eat and move. And I was like, okay, I like to move. That's easy. I know how to sleep. Eating was a challenge, but I figured it out. But it's a little bit like yoga Right. You can do Warrior One, and it seems really simple. And then the more you kind of learn the nuances, you can go deeper and it becomes an entirely different pose. Right. So eating, as long as you're eating in the parasympathetic states, so you can digest and absorb your nutrients and you don't need anything to do that. You can do deep breathing, so that's pilless sleeping. As long as you have really good sleep hygiene and set yourself up for sleep success, you can do that. And then movement is so critical. I think that's amazing.
Well, thank you. Thank you. And there are sprays and stuff like that that we use, and it eliminates that pill burden. And that's. That's the challenge that a lot of practitioners who are listening to this might be encountering with their clients. And essential oils can be extremely effective and they can be extremely affordable. And one of the things that I want to help you do, and anyone who's listening to this, I'm sure you'd appreciate, is being able to quantify their effect. So there's the qualitative, right. Which is, you know, hey, how do I feel after taking this? But then we've now got tools like heartmath devices and, and OURA rings that we can use to track people's HRV and their increase in their resilience and how they're handling stress. So, you know, one of the things that I'm committing to doing is tracking this internally for you with our clients so we can see the data. Because I know that some people want to see evidence. They want to see evidence that this works. I know it works. You know it works. Thousands of your clients know it works. But when you have that hard data, then it's irrefutable, even to the customer who's using the oil. Because now, like, yes, this creates a proven result. And anything that we can do to get people detoxing better, anything we can do to take the burden off somebody's adrenals and get their vagus nerve working better and get them more parasympathetic, is going to have a profound shift in their physiology and going to create great outcomes for the practitioners that are listening to this.
Exactly, exactly. And, you know, to your point, even if they are taking pills, you need to be in the parasympathetic state to actually assimilate them. Like, whenever I hear a client who says, like, yeah, I'm chronically deficient in vitamin B or D and I supplement all the time, it's not that they're missing the right supplement, it's that their body's not assimilating it. And so we need to get them assimilating nutrients. So no matter if you want to go pill free or continue to use pills, this amplifies the effect of pills because it actually allows your body to assimilate it.
Yeah. And just add to that when you're sympathetic dominant, like you're going to use magnesium, even if you absorbed it, you're going to use it for a different process than you would if you were going to be in a parasympathetic state. Right. So you can use magnesium to help you sleep deeper and help you detox better and help you metabolize glucose better, or you can use it for other things that are more related to a sympathetic response.
Exactly. And also your whole hormone cascade, too. It can just help you stop using pregnenolone for cortisol and actually make progesterone.
There you go. So, speaking of hormones, tell us more about some of the blends that you have that might be supportive in those areas.
Yeah. For hormones, I really try to address things at the root. Cause essential oils are not hormones. But I do think that they can be used to balance your organs of detoxification, specifically your liver and your gallbladder, so that you're not reassimilating old hormones, but actually eliminating them. And also to support your hypothalamus, adrenal, because pituitary axis, so that your stress isn't causing your raw materials, like your pregnenolone, to be siphoned off towards cortisol, but actually allows it to be producing progesterone. So the biggest issue there is really the gallbladder. And it's so funny to me with like, the keto diet being the hot new trend and all these people that are jumping on board and then not being able to get fat adapted. You know, when they're down to like, zero carbs and they're giving up coffee and they're in so much pain, and I'm like, it doesn't need to be this hard. The challenge is that you need to support your gallbladder. You need to make sure that your gallbladder And I'll back up. I'm assuming everyone knows that the gallbladder stores and concentrates bile, which is created in the liver, and then it releases the bile into the intestines to help break down and emulsify the fat. So if something is happening where optimum bile isn't being either produced or released, then you're not necessarily able to break down that fat and what causes could be a really healing, supportive nutrient becomes another toxic burden. So, you know, symptoms of that might be that you feel nauseous or motion sick, you might have a mild headache, you know, above your eyes or pain between your shoulder blades or on your actual gallbladder, or you might just not have a good reaction to fatty foods. It might make you feel really kind of gassy or you might have greasy stools. So any of those indications, you know, supporting your gallbladder and it could be bile salts if you're into pills, bitters, binders before bed, or even an oil that helps kind of make the bile a little bit more viscous and flowing so that it doesn't get congested.
I love that. And that's something that a lot of people probably overlook. And you've got a really simple solution for that. So I love, I want to comment on the fact that I love the sacred geometry in your logo. So I've got a flower.
Oh, thank you.
Flower of life logo, you know, in my, in my house in a couple spots. And it's one of my favorite sacred geometries shapes. And then I love how you very clearly named your products. So for an end user, but also for a practitioner who's recommending them, it becomes really easy for people to pick up what they need because, you know, sometimes we, we don't know what certain products do or we don't know because the way things are named it might be a little obscure or difficult for people to figure out. But I love how you've created such amazing branding and such amazing ease of use for clients for the products that you've created.
Thank you. Well, it also, it's very intentional, you know, having the sacred geometry and the intention of the oil I think amplifies the effectiveness.
I love it. So I know you've got a book coming out. Let's talk about that. What are you going to be talking about in the book, aside from all this cool information?
Thank you. It's really delving into how to boost the brain and heal the body with essential oils. And it's specifically focusing on what I think are kind of the five low hanging fruit strategies. I mean, as practitioners, we see people all the time. They have countless test results. They're very convinced that they're the most complicated people ever. And that might be true, but you know, it's almost like when we have too many tabs open on our device, it's going to drain our energy. And so the easiest way before getting A new computer or a new battery is just start closing the tabs and see how you feel. And so the five tabs that I see as being the easiest to close and that essential oils are kind of well suited to close are shifting into the parasympathetic healing state, which we talked about. That's number one, helping you sleep. You know, if you're not sleeping, it's incredibly hard to heal. Also, that's. That's when your brain is off duty so it can shrink up and let cerebral spinal fluid flow through and wash it out. Sleep is number two, then just the energy to heal anything that causes a stress response or turns on your amygdala or your hypothalamus, just helping to calm down that stress response so that your energy can be channeled towards healing. Helping to open drainage pathways is number. I really see that, as, you know, say you're really good at mobilizing toxins and sleeping, and toxins are trying to drain and they get congested, or blood is trying to flow in and it can't access the brain. So making sure that the good things can get in and the bad things can get out. And then finally, immune modulation, which oils are amazing at, just really making sure that your immune system is working with you and not against you, so that when you're working so hard to make progress, your whole body is working with you.
I love everything you just said. I want to go back to number four if I can, for just a moment.
Drainage.
That's a relatively new concept, right, For a lot of practitioners. When we think of detoxification, we think of the liver, we think of the kidneys, we think of the bowels. But we've got to drain the brain, and we've got to make sure the brain is moving. Removing waste products. So I was curious if you could share with somebody who's listening to this, like, what would some of the symptoms be that would make somebody say, you know, I've got an issue with brain drainage. There it is.
You know, it's really interesting. There are no pain receptors in the brain, so the primary issue is fatigue and, like, fatigue with endurance. So if you used to be able to read for hours and now you get tired after reading for 30 minutes. If you get tired after focusing, you know, if you're in some kind of environment, that's really. If you get more easily overstimulated. Like, you used to be an extrovert, now you're more of an introvert. Those are all kind of early warning signs. This is all from. And he's done a ton of research on brain inflammation and the symptoms, but it's, it's really subtle. I mean the brain is very late to complain and there are a lot of low hanging fruit issues that are kind of noticeable before any big symptoms erupt. So it's mostly energy, the ability to remember and concentrate and focus. He claims that it's not pain, that if you have kind of like a pressure headache that's vascular, that's not from drainage, it could be you're just not feeling right. But it's mostly energy related and.
Go ahead.
Oh no, go ahead.
No, I was going to say because when we think of drainage we think of like the nose running or like fluids coming out of the ear or eyes. Right. So I just wanted to give practitioners like, you know, these are the questions that you want to clue into with your.
Well, you know what, what was happening to me is I was forgetting words. Like we were at a restaurant that's owned by this guy has like seven restaurants in Seattle. I couldn't remember his name and I knew it. I could describe every other restaurant but I couldn't remember it. Or trying to describe flannel. And I'm like, you know that material that's plaid. It's the strangest thing. It's like you lose a word, you know exactly what you're talking about, but you can't locate it. That's a symptom.
I'm almost afraid to admit that that does happen very occasionally. And I know there was a period in my life that that was happening a lot more often and thankfully it's actually not happening.
We'll have to get you the lymph drainage. Yeah.
You know what I want to do you sell that five pack of like those five oils in a package?
Yes, we do. We call it our essential wellness kit.
Okay, well, I'm definitely going to be buying that.
Ok, great.
Where can people learn more about the amazing work that you're doing? I know you're going to be at our live event Perfect Practice. We're going to be sharing your beautiful soul with our coaching clients and practitioners from all over the world. But if somebody's watching this and they want to jump on board and start using some of your products, where can people learn more and access these so.
They can learn more at Vibrant Blue, like the color oils dot com. You can email us any questions@infovibrantblueils.com and we'll get back to you within 24 hours. And then we're going to Give you the link to our parasympathetic toolkit, which will contain a lot of the information I talked about so that you didn't need to take copious notes. That just gives you more detail.
Okay, amazing. So I'll be sure to share a link with everyone in the show notes and be sure to check out Jodi's amazing products and support her brand. I'm a big fan of what you do, and I'm so glad that we had a chance to have this. This is our second conversation. We're gonna have another one tomorrow because I'm really a big fan of what you do and I want to make sure more people are aware of it and that we can push forward into the future and allow people to be self empowered when it comes to their health. And this is a very fantastic tool to help people do that. So, you know, I use the products, my son uses the products, my wife uses the products. And now we're going to have our clients using the products as well as part of our mission to get people more parasympathetic, because that's where we can love more, that's where we can give more, that's where we can heal deeper, and that's where we can be of our greatest service. So thank you, thank you, thank you. I appreciate you and thank you. And if there's any final words that you'd like to say, the floor is yours.
The only other thing is I love this because kind of helping people calm down and get into a more heart centered space. I find anxiety is an epidemic, especially my daughter's 15, all of her friends, our mutual colleague Titus Chu, taught me this cool trick that because, you know, the nose goes directly to that side of the brain, he said that anxiety is often an overreaction of the left or, sorry, the right frontal part of the brain, the right front is overreacting. So if you can balance the brain by smelling something through the left nostril, it then balances the brain and you feel less anxious. It's really a great way to help people get out of anxiety attacks. So if that's something that you or any of your clients suffer from just smelling, you can close the right nostril and smell for three to five breaths through the left nostril. And that's a really great kind of hack for anxiety and just navigating life so that you feel better. Because when we feel well, we can, you know, when we don't feel well, it's hard to be kind. When we feel better, it's easier to be warm and kind.
I love that. Beautiful sentiments and words to end this amazing conversation with. I can see us speaking for hours. I know you've got calls after this. I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to join me today and to share your amazing knowledge. Be sure to let us know more about the book when it's ready to launch and maybe we can do another interview at that time.
I would love that. Yes. February 2, 2021.
All right. All right. There you go. So excited to continue to support you and see you in April. And also, one other thing is, you know, the beautiful thing about essential oils is that there's so much fun that you can have with them. That's what, that's what I really love about them, is they're fun in so many ways.
So many ways.
They smell amazing. They can be used therapeutically in our bodies. They can be used in our homes and, you know, experiment with them, have fun with them. And, you know, Jodi, thanks for being here today.
Thank you. Thanks for having me.
