EP070: The Perfect Practice Approach to COVID19 — Expert Town Hall Discussion
26 Nov 2025 · 52 min
A town-hall style podcast (recorded March 29, 2020) hosted by Sachin Patel that gathers functional-medicine practitioners to share rapid-response strategies for COVID-19. Panelists (Dr. Bob Rakowski, Dr. Peter Osborne, Dr. Lorraine Mehta, Dr. Reika, Michael K., Dr. Erin Choi, Dr. Satip and others) discuss clinical immune-support suggestions (supplements, mushrooms, vitamin D, lifestyle), risk demographics (Italy/WHO stats), practice continuity (telemedicine via Zoom/phone, HIPAA considerations), messaging/legal cautions (avoid claiming cures), community outreach (webinars, school partnerships), and business preparedness (liquidity, online transition). The host announces converting an in-person event to a free online conference (Perfect Practice Live, Apr 3–5) and offers registration/recordings.

What's up everyone? It's Achin. I hope you're amazing. I hope you're in a comfortable spot with your family, with loved ones, with people that you deeply care about. It is definitely very interesting times that we're part of right now. We're witnessing certainly we're witnessing history right now. And thank you all for being here, especially on such short notice, including our panelists who were very, very generous with their times and their busy schedules to educate all of us and share with us some of the best practices that we are using moving forward in the face of what's going on right now. So welcome, welcome, welcome. I'd love to know where everybody's from, so if you could type that into the chat, that would be great and I'll start introducing some of our speakers and we'll get started. I'd love to also know what questions you have. You know, many of you might have different types of practices. Some of you might have brick and mortar practices which may be more impacted by this. Some of you may have online businesses which are still impacted, but perhaps a little bit less. Some of you may have been sitting on the fence of creating an online business and this is the impetus, the push or the shove that you perhaps needed in order for that to be able to happen. So, very interesting times that we're part of right now. And yesterday I had the privilege of connecting with Trisha Nilsen, JJ Virgin, Debbie Silver, and a few other people that were sharing some of their best strategies. I'm happy to share those with you, but in the meantime, let's introduce some of our amazing speakers that have tuned in to support all of us and support our community. We've got Dr. Bob Rakowski, a dear mentor of mine, amazing, amazing clinician, clinician to the stars, and mega athletes, but also an expert in medicinal mushrooms. He's going to be sharing some of his insights. We've got Dr. Michael K. Who is a functional medicine practitioner. He's going to be sharing some of his insights. He's got a brick and mortar practice and elements of his practice are also online. Got another mentor of mine, Dr. Peter Osborne. Thanks for joining us Peter. Excited to hear what you have to say. You certainly have a well oiled machine as a physical practice but you've also got a very strong online presence. So again this is very timely and very relevant for what you have to share. And Dr. Lorraine Mehta, who is a functional medicine practitioner in New York and she's also somebody who was heavily involved when the SARS outbreak took place. So she's definitely got some insights for us. Dr. Reika, who's a functional medicine practitioner and she's somebody who actually hosted her own event yesterday, her own webinar. So I'm sure she's got some valuable insights that she's going to share. She's also a mentor for IFM and coaches other practitioners. Got Erin Choi, who is kind of in the epicenter I guess in Washington State and he's a naturopathic doctor and he's somebody who had a physical practice and then fairly recently in the last year or so transitioned to an online practice. So I'd love to hear what he has to say as well. And we've got a few other people that will be joining us. So thanks for joining everyone. Appreciate all of you and this is a time where we can all stick together. This is a time where community is more relevant than ever before and this is a time where us at Perfect Practice are here to support you. Do stick around till the end. We've got a very special announcement that I think is going to be very timely for all of you. But without further ado, I'd love to start. I'm just going to go in the order that I introduced everyone. I've got Dr. Bob Rakowski. Hey Dr. Bob, how are you doing?
Hey. Happy, happy, happy, beautiful, amazing day. I don't know if I can get on video or possibly share a screen but always, always good to be with you and part of what you're doing. Can you hear me okay, Satchin, I.
Can let me make you a co host and see if that allows you to share your screen and video.
There it is. So now I'm officially on screen and I believe I can share. So let's see about sharing. You know, so one thing that I've been doing over the last handful of days is sharing solid information about what's going on and I think people need facts because people are going to throw out a lot of information when I introduced this graph a few days ago. You'll look in the blue here is mainland China and I'll, I'll actually just isolate mainland China a little bit. And you can see that the, if you want to call it pandemic epidemic rose and fall as by the way, every pandemic epidemic has throughout human history, even the bubonic plague. You start looking at the back half of this graph and that's where people are looking and really scaring themselves not recognizing that every epidemic is going to have this. So this is going to be the SARS pandemic. It was maybe a six month process where this rose and fell. When we start looking at the MERS epidemic, this actually rose and fell and had a very strong spike in the middle. And then we start looking and saying, okay, what's going on in the rest of the world or what's especially going on in Italy? And have they peaked yet? Well, we don't know the answer to that. It looks like they may not have peaked just yet, but I believe they will. I'll share a different screen because I did an Italy update today because so many people are concerned about Italy. Actually that's the whole pandemic in perspective. So I don't want to, that's not the one I want to show. But Italy, their demographic of people that are suffering is pretty significant. So they created, you know, a report and since I don't speak Italian, I went in and the Google translator and I translated very specifically up to two days ago. That was the Italy report. And then you'll look and you'll see the vast majority of Deaths are between 80 and 89 and some over 90. There's more people that died over the age of 90 than there was between 60 and 70. So the probability of someone having a significant problem under the age of 60 is very, very low. And they went out further and they said, is there anything else going on with these people? More than 99% of the people that died had something else that was medically significant going on within their body. So that is of, I think, great interest around the world. You're always promoting health. Show the US stats vs Italy. Italy has at this point, they're reporting a very high death rate at 8.34%. The US death rate is going down. But here's the World Health Organization's primary lead in this and here's what he said. 80% of the cases are mild, 14% are severe, 6% become critically ill. Well, who are those that are becoming critically ill. Those that are already sick and those that are over 70 years old. It makes sense to me that we would prioritize our care towards those people. Is there a reason to actually minimize exposure? Yes, this is a theoretical graph. If we didn't minimize exposure, it would peak very rapidly and also fall very rapidly. This could overburden the medical system. But if it comes on slowly and then declines over time, then we're going to be in a better position. So with that said, I think part of what you wanted was best practices. And certainly there are going to be a lot of things that are going to be best practices. But I like to tell people the top two enemies of the immune system and probably in this order are chronic stress and fear. So I think facts are something that can help people to not be as stressed about this. Getting a supportive community is something that can be really, really helpful. Daily meditation is awesome. I believe I sent to you a summary of the open air hospitals. They came to realize that if they treated people outdoors, the death rate went down very dramatically. There's now a plant identified categories of chemicals called phytoncytes. And when human beings are in nature, they actually get the benefit of the plant's immune system. Pretty fascinating there. So, you know, get out in nature, take a walk. I saw a picture of you hugging a tree today. Awesome idea there. And then what about sugar? Well, certainly at this time you're going to want to minimize it and, or eliminate it. I'm talking about processed sugars. If we're talking about excellent things like, you know, blueberries. Hey, great choice. When we start coming down to supplements, there's a whole bunch. You mentioned medicinal mushrooms. There's a bunch of those out there. The top one, the king of herbs, ganoderma. I've heard that Paul Stamets Supply is completely sold out. We're co investors in a company, they're on backorder because the demand is so high. Things like vitamin D and sunshine, colostrum, really, really good. Other herbs like echinacea and astragalus, great for the immune system. Omega 3s, right? That's a big part of my nutrition pyramid. Plant nutrients. But you know, putting yourself in a good community, nourishing your body, mind and spirit consistently and focusing on all the positive. And there's so much positive in this. Those are my strategies.
I love it. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate that. You know, I'd like to go to Dr. Peter next and see what your thoughts are. You're both in Houston, so I don't know what the situation is over there, what the hysteria is like over there, but let's have Dr. Peter jump on. I'm going to make you the co host here, Doc, so you can turn your camera on. Okay? Thank you, sir.
Hi there. Can you hear me okay?
Sure. Can, can see you as well. Thank you. All right.
Yeah. So for us in Houston, I mean the panic is more in the streets, so to speak, in the grocery stores. People are out and about buying all the toilet paper up, buying all the water up, buying out most of the fresh produce in the grocery stores. I've got some pictures I took of our HEB here locally was totally cleaned out, but the stores have done a pretty good job of restocking. So I think the panic was maybe a little the initial phase and now it's kind of dropped off a little bit. In my experience, the biggest thing that I would say share with all your practitioners to really be concerned about as they move forward is how do they position themselves because of the forced closures of a lot of businesses. So like here where I live in Fort Bend county, the gyms were all forced closed. So if you want to exercise as part of your health routine to maintain your integrity, your health integrity against this virus, now you can't go to a gym. You don't have access to that because the powers that be have closed them down. So we've had things like restaurants closed down, but gyms have closed down. So the big question mark, and nobody knows, I don't think anybody knows the answer to this. And I don't want to create fear and panic, but is at some point are we going to see that our offices have to shut down? Because none of us, you know, if you're in functional medicine, none of us are emergency clinicians. So it's, you know, this is the fear is that they're going to shut down all non essentials. My neighbor's a dentist and they shut them down because of the oral implications. And the transmission of this virus is largely through particulate coming out of the mouth. Right. Coming out of the lungs. So he was shut down. And he's going to struggle really, really aggressively because he's going to lose two weeks of revenue, two weeks of patients over the next couple of weeks and possibly more. This is the thing, this is the unknown that we don't know. So the best advice that I can give any of you listening is how are you positioning yourself now to continue to have a relationship with your patients and clients? And so for us, we've Gone to a digital format.
I mean, we.
I have a brick and mortar clinic. So, I mean, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, I'm in the office, I'm in the clinic. However, what we've done is we've shifted to Zoom calls. Somebody asked the question, and I saw earlier in the, you know, in the chat box, is Zoom HIPAA compliant? Yes, it is. So, you know, if you buy the right version of Zoom, you can have HIPAA compliant conversations with your clients and patients, and you can maintain your ability to continue to earn your revenue while serving your community. I think we're all a little bit nervous about the potential of the loss of revenue because not only are we facing our own lost revenue in our practices, possibly. Again, I don't want to create fear and panic, but the rest of the world, the rest of the US Rather, is looking at job layoffs. The rest of them are looking at potential shutdowns. The restaurant industry's caveat in our area, I mean, you can still order out food, although I don't recommend that you do. You can still do it. But a lot of restaurant owners, their businesses are going to fail and their employees are going to be out of jobs. And so we look at the discretionary income curve of what's going to happen over the next six months if these closures hang around longer than just a few weeks. And so you're going to see less people in your community with less discretionary income to spend on things like functional medicine. And so that potentially has the effect of impacting your bottom line. So, again, what are you doing to serve the community while also buffering your ability to continue to earn an income and take care of your families. One of the things that I'm encouraging all of you to do, if you're not already doing it, is using the technology that we have at our fingertips. So using technologies like Zoom, like Facebook Live, like YouTube, if you've got a YouTube channel, and making sure that your message is loud and clear and that you're out there and that you're giving the guidance to your community in such a way that they're looking to you for leadership, and when they do that, they're certainly going to look to you. If you're talking about immune support and you're talking about things like vitamin C or mushrooms or whatever it is, they're going to look to you to make those purchases. I don't think any of us are wanting to take advantage of people. I think we want to serve with love, and I think we're rewarded when we serve with love. But if you're not out there serving through these digital channels, then you run a great risk of not only losing your brick and mortar revenue, but potentially also losing the possibility of keeping your family afloat, keeping your practice afloat. Again, no panic here, but just buffer yourself. And even if it doesn't go, worst case scenario, you should be putting these things into motion and into planning now, because here in Houston, you know this, Bob, we've had. How many hurricanes have we had that shut out the power that, you know, created panic in the city, Right. And so, you know, it doesn't matter what kind of natural disaster, earthquakes, hurricanes or whatever it might be that could potentially affect your practice and your revenue. You should be looking for external ways to buffer your revenue anyway. And so the online world is just kind of a natural, easy gravitation for that. Now, I will say this too. I'll add one other thing that I think is really important as a best practice. The FDA has sent out, to my knowledge, seven letters at this point. These letters were to different healthcare providers or YouTube channels or shows where they were recommending that people take different types of supplement lines. Silver was one that really got hit hard. What you do not want to do in this time is you do not want to make direct claims that any natural agents that you're using or recommending to support immune function have the capacity or the ability to treat COVID 19 very, very important that your language is clear in this area because the FDA is aggressively monitoring this and they will shut you down. They will create a much bigger problem for you with attorneys and everything else. So here, if you lose your ability to keep your practice open and now you've got attorneys coming after you from the government, you're gonna have much bigger problems. So again, don't, don't. You shouldn't be out there and your message shouldn't be, hey, take vitamin C because vitamin C will help you treat your Covid or vitamin C will even prevent your Covid. It will not. There is no evidence that states that vitamin C or vitamin D or vitamin A or zinc or any other nutrient or any other medicinal will actually treat, prevent, cure or diagnose COVID 19 this is a new virus. There's no research suggesting any of that other than there's some studies preliminarily coming out on vitamin C. But even then I would be very, very cautious with your language. Don't get your yourself into trouble by trying to sell product with an over exaggerated claim because they are looking for that right now. And we've actually been censored already. My channel and my language is very clear and important and already very dialed in. But New York Post wrote an article on one of my videos and the Business Insider wrote an article on one of my videos and their title was Doctor Recommends Near Lethal Doses of Supplements to Treat Covid. So basically I had to get my attorney and basically threaten to sue them for libel because I made no such claims and I didn't tell anyone we were trying to treat. So again, it's going to happen. This is a crazy time. It's unprecedented. Mind your P's and Q's, watch what you say, but don't be scared to get out there and be a leader in your community because people need leaders right now. And you have this wonderful opportunity to step up and really be a shining beacon to those who are confused.
I love that. Always a voice of reason. I appreciate that. And you know, one thing I'll say is that, you know, there are seven energy centers in our business relationship Capital is one of them. It's at the top of the funnel, I would say. And this is a great time to build that relationship capital. And if you can be a calm centered, provide a calm centered message, which is helpful for people right now, then versus trying to sell them something. Certainly, you know, you don't want to turn people away from buying supplements, but you want to make sure you're making, you're not making any claims that can get you into trouble. And certainly some of these support products that you discussed can support a healthy immune system. There's evidence for that. But you don't want to say that it's going to be supporting the COVID or treating the COVID because this is a time where, you know, they're paying attention to what's going on out there and who's saying what. So I appreciate that. All right, now let's go to Dr. Reika Reicha. I'm gonna make you a co host here and that will allow you to show your video. So go ahead. Whenever you're ready. There you go.
So lots of words of wisdom here. You know, I just was inspired by lookout and see what your community is asking for. So the webinar I did last night was just strictly in response to what everyone want locally. There was a lot of fear and I think there's a lot of misunderstanding. So initially the social isolation or social distancing was not taken seriously. I'm outside of Chicagoland, by the way, and it is kind of a tougher crowd to sell. People don't really understand functional medicine. I tend to have patients that fly in from all over the United States and the surrounding states. They specifically want it. And so I've just kind of continued to spread the word quietly, but the response was overwhelming. I released the post on Gosh on Tuesday afternoon at 1pm and by the webinar last night at 7 we had 228 registered and did my list, obviously my patients and then my kids, school, community. So they're both in private schools that have very strong communities and that's why we chose the schools as the community basis and the support. And I actually went as far to say, and I had offered, I was telling all the other practitioners on a call just earlier with Sachin that I had offered my services and gotten shot down. And it's like, well, how much can you keep offering services? Like I have a talk called Maximizing youg Child's School Performance and they just weren't interested. I even donated a wellness consult that no one bid on at a charity auction. So I mean I've gone to great lengths. So I actually reached out to both principals. One was the dean at the high school and put it out there. The first, the principal of the middle school released it right away and the response was immediate and so much gratitude. So that goes a long way, like Sachin was saying. And from that I also channeled them into an immune support group and I did preface the whole webinar with this is what we do all the time. So all my autoimmune patients that come see me are going to be just fine. I said, so I'm hopeful that this, I am hopeful that presenting this knowledge will not just be for the time of COVID but will get everyone to live optimally well. And then so now I have this support group that I can continue to nurture and provide like Sachin said, relationship capital. But now I feel like I'm kind of have gone from in the shadows here where people weren't interested to now all of a sudden it is our time to shine and we should do that to serve. And then of course everyone has the same outcome to get people better and then have our businesses thrive as well. So it's always twofold. So yeah.
Awesome. So what were some of your big messages yesterday on your. Or some of the questions that came in that you were able to.
Yeah. Yes. So so many good ones. They wanted to know. A lot of them wanted to know, you know, how long did it survive on surfaces. And so I went through what I'd found in the data. And you know, what you. With the elderly and, you know, clearly you'd want a point person dropping the food off. I had a gym owner saying, because they haven't mandated the gyms to close, most of them had electively closed here in Illinois. And this guy ran a gymnastics course. And, you know, I reached out to him privately and then when I read his question, I left his name off because, you know, it's so personal, because he, in the email, initial email, he was very upset. Like this could potentially, you know, really drive everyone's businesses into the ground. And so I offered a lot of tips to him. So they went from that to, you know, what about our kids? Are they in trouble? I even had an ICU physician message saying, how do I prevent transferring to my kids? And so for him, you know, he really. One of my strategies is he probably should be on andrographis just to prevent the viral replication in the first place and then he won't shed it. The good news is his kids are, I think, fifth grade and first grade. So they're kind of in that age where they're not at high risk, but they could be carriers to everyone else that they expose because if they release the schools in two weeks, but he's a constant source of exposure, then that's going to be a problem. Lots of gratitude. And someone brought up infrared sauna. So I was able to say, hey, that's a great idea if you have it. And then they asked will freezer get rid of it? So what if they brought in canned goods? And it does survive on plastics and stainless steel for two to three days, so you have to kind of be careful. Yeah, they were just really impressed and I gave them a solution to. A lot of the rubbing alcohol is gone, so a lot of the hand sanitizer that's alcohol based is also not available. So I picked this up from Klinghard is that he recommends that hypochlorous spray and there's a company out of Washington called Briotech USA and that has the hypochlorous acid in. And he's using it to spray down all his counters, even his hands, and misting it across his face. So it might not. And I would say for the ICU physician, potentially even putting in Q tip and swabbing his nose so that these really neat.
I'd love if you could share that link and the exact name of the product. I think that would be helpful. And just to draw everyone's attention. Dr. Peter was kind enough to Share his disclaimer message. So I definitely copy that and post that in any articles that you're writing or any videos that you've done on YouTube to make it very clear so that way you don't get into trouble. So you can go ahead and copy that. I've already sent that over to Carol because we didn't have that disclaimer. And sometimes the language that you use isn't enough. It just has to be explicitly written out for people. So I would definitely make that change. And Rekha is going to be sending us the name of that product. Thank you for that.
Yeah. And just real quick on that, you're right. The andrographis everything I said, just like Peter Osborne had said. I said these are studies and things we have found to be true for other viruses. And I'm not claiming that this. So I was very clear in the presentation. It was all related to the viruses that it suggested or where there was animal studies. I made that notice and said, so these are thought to be helpful in this situation.
Awesome. And certainly anyone's welcome to answer this question, but Jan Simmons is asking. There's a rumor circulating in my neighborhood to turn up the heat in your home. It kills the virus. I've seen that. I've seen people blowing hair dryers into their nose and sinuses to heat up their lungs and heat up their sinus cavity. So I don't know how true that is. If anyone can comment on that, that would be great.
Yeah. There was an article in, I think it was the Times that there was a study done at 65% humidity. That was where the virus grew the most. Can you hear me?
Yeah, we can.
So that's where the virus grew the most. And something a little bit below or a little bit above. I've got to find the article for you and I will share it, but there's. They're trying to study the virus at different temperatures and humidity, but, you know, it's very sparse now.
Okay, so we're not sure. I've heard.
I've heard too. And this was from a virologist and he was comparing. He was comparing the Middle Eastern. The Middle Eastern version of the virus. Just saying that he doesn't really do much. The virus is too adaptable. You know, I'm not a virologist, so I'm not going to be claimed to be an expert, but, you know, that was what I heard is that turning your heat up is not going to be all that beneficial. Infrared sauna is not going to be that beneficial. In terms of killing the virus because it's heat adapted. Now, again, that doesn't mean there aren't other benefits to infrared, but that's what I've heard. And again, I want to make the clear claim that I am not the expert on that topic either.
Okay, thanks, Dr. O. Let's go to Michael. Michael K. What do you have to say, brother? I make you the co host so you can turn your camera on if you wish.
So look at this as, you know, family. How do I protect my family? How do I protect my community? And how do I protect my business? We are a brick and mortar business. So we had to take up certain precautions. And what I've done is I've had patients coming in, stay in the parking lot, give us a call, let us know they're there, and then we're ready, we'll bring them back. So this really limits their exposure because we are still hands on. I don't have masks. I do use gloves when the patient comes in, I actually show them, look, we're wiping down the table, wiping down the chair. So we give them a sense of calm, that we're taking the proper precautions. So that's one thing. Next thing I've been doing is doing a live Facebook every night because I'm really helping people just separate fact from fiction because we're seeing a lot of really crazy statements out there, from gargling water to, you know, using the hairdryer. And we're just trying to give them some solid, solid information. So we've been doing that. I've canceled my elderly patients who are in Medicare, I've canceled my patients who have immune dysfunction, and I've been contacting them by phone. I've been using zoom, I've been using practice Better for the elderly patients. What I reached out for them is a lot of them don't know how to order online or they're scared to order online. So I will order for them and then I just ship it to their house. And then when I see them, they can take care of it. So that way I'm helping them. I'm doing FaceTime with the elderly who know how to do FaceTime as well. So they really don't feel like they're left alone. So as we move forward, where am I going to be next week? I'm not sure. So we've been doing a lot more online stuff. And with respect to business, I'm concerned about the businesses around me. So what I'm doing this week is a seven movement challenge. And then Each challenge, hence each video, will be sponsored by a local business. Not going to charge them for it. It's just a great way to get their name out, keep their business rolling, and then hopefully they'll share my information as well. So that's how we're looking at it. It's really difficult with the brick and mortar business. We're taking a hit like everybody else. Some patients are really scared to come out, but, you know, we share with them our proper precautions and hopefully it puts their mind at ease. So right now I'm just trying to lend a sense of calm to my community.
Well, I mean, that's one of the best things that we can do right now, is be that voice of reason and learn a little bit more about, you know, how people can better protect themselves. You know, I'm a, a bit of a conspiracy theorist myself. I don't know if there's any of you out there as well. And some people are saying that 5G is an issue. I don't know if anyone's heard that claim or is concerned about that, but I know that's something that comes up in many of the threads that I'm doing or reading. And then another thing that comes up is that this is an agenda to basically crash the economy, and there's a political agenda surrounding this. So I don't know how much of that is true, but at this point it might be irrelevant, but it might be something worth diving into going down that rabbit hole, because when 5G rolls out, it will affect us all in, in one way or another. I heard rumors that they were kicking kids out of school to install the 5G in schools while they're, while they're not there anymore. So who knows, who knows how much of that is true and may not be relevant to us in our practices, but maybe in our own personal situations and families. I'm not a big guy to invest in the stock market, so I actually have almost nothing in the stock market, but the US dollar is much stronger right now. It's like the strongest it's been in quite some time. So I don't know if anyone wants to jump in and talk about financial preparedness, but I know that that's something that's on people's minds is what's a good strategy right now, because if some of you are dipping into your 401ks or retirement funds, this is like, not a good time to do that. I don't know if anyone has any insights on that or wants to volunteer any information, but certainly I know it's top of mind awareness for many people. Not just, you know, what's the immediate action plan, but what's happened to people's, you know, for some people, their life savings have been essentially decimated because of this impact that it's had on the market.
So, yeah, Satchin, I can say this. My, my wife's uncle is one of the top brokers in the world. And right now, if you're heavily invested in the market, now is absolutely not the time to pull out. If it goes south of where it's going now, we're all in trouble. So the money won't matter anyway. You have to keep in mind is keep a calm head. We actually just invested quite a bit in the market at its low point right now. The way I look at it is long term is you're buying on sale. Some of you may not believe in investing in the market. Look, I believe in diversifying my investments. You have some in the market, but you also invest in yourself, your practice, your business. You invest in the people around you, invest in your own skill sets first and foremost. But you've got to have some type of plan. And pulling out now would be a horrible idea because what you've just done is you've taken a 15 or 20% dip in what you've actually worked your life to put away. So if you can afford to keep it in there, don't touch it. The other thing I would suggest is learn from this tragedy, Learn from this event. If you don't have six months of liquid cash, of liquid revenue on hand, whether it be gold bullion or cash, you need to think about getting that plan for anything that comes in the future. It's too late now if you don't already have it. But you need to get that planned and you need to have that somewhere where it's easily accessible, where your passports easily accessible, where your, if you, if you're doing anything online, where you have a hard drive with your list on it so that you can go anywhere in the world at the drop of a hat, where you have your hard drive with your list, which is how you can monetize and you can continue to earn your revenue, but you also are liquid so that you have some way to support your family and you also have a means to travel out of the country should it, should it be necessary. So I know that maybe for me, from my Texas viewpoint, you know, we carry guns, we have, you know, we like to hunt, we do those kinds of things. And not everybody does, but, you know, you Never know when something like this is going to happen. So it never hurts to be prepared. And if you never need the preparedness, great. And then world is wonderful and great. But if you ever, if you ever do need it and you don't have it, you really can get into some dire straits.
Yeah. And I think the other thing too is like there's nothing stopping the banks from closing where you physically can't go in and get the money. One thing I've heard, again, not to be an alarmist, but I'd rather be right and warn everyone than wrong and nobody's prepared. I would say, you know, listen to what Dr. Osborne said, you know, get what if you've got an email list, I'm going to do it right after this call. I would download it so you have it as a soft copy at least at a minimum on your computer. Because there are rumors that the Internet's gonna go dark for anywhere from seven to 10 days. So you won't be able to access anything online again. I don't know how true that is, but you know, if I'm right, then it could impact all of you very significantly. So if there's things that you need access to, I would download them to your computer so that at least you have that and you can travel with that and make sure that you're prepared for that. All right, let's go to Dr. Choi. Aaron, what, what insights do you have for us? I'm going to make you a co host so that you can jump in here and provide some value to the tribe.
Yes. So I'm honored to be here. And I come from the perspective of someone who had a brick or just up till the end of January and I joined. You know, I started learning from Sachin and started thinking, how do I want to be prepared for more virtual world? I worked in Silicon Valley before I became a doctor. I went through 2007, 2008. I learned very quickly that the security of a job is not secure at all. So whether I've been pre prepared for something like this, if it's good timing or not, I'm now thinking, how can we use this time? Because from what I heard, this pandemic, it might be a three week thing, it might be a 18 month thing. So I'm looking at what are we doing now to plant the seeds, to create, to make sure that we can help our communities, but also be prepared to build our businesses online. So I think maybe from the perspective.
Of.
How I'm approaching that now, I'm creating Nurture campaigns. How do I connect with people? How do I share information? How do I activate the right mirror neurons in other people? We're seeing people run after toilet paper, but as practitioners, how do we demonstrate in our own lives how we are approaching the situation? So making sure to show people, I'm still taking walks, being reasonable, being very health conscious. I'm noticing that a lot of supplements that people are running after aren't even available anymore. So how can we talk about lifestyle practices, things that we actually want to talk more about now, their opportunity? People are more receptive to it and I think also being curators of good information. So I'm listening to Dr. Bob share information as always. You know, he does such a great job of consolidating information in bite sized pieces. How can we curate the best information for our communities? I think even if we don't see ourselves as the expert or the expert immunologist, we can share and consolidate and curate the best information. Even within my family chat messages, my own parents are sharing things that end up being rumors and everyone's getting all worked up. So I think it's our job to understand the level of urgency of the situation is very serious. But how do we also give people information in a way that they can act on it? So it's like we're playing two roles where we're digesting all the science, but we also need to be able to meet people where they are. I just posted a photo of, you know, the grocery store. All the bread was gone and all the produce was there. And just these little insights of, hey, maybe we should look at having more of the, like the vegetables. And maybe now's the time to avoid the junk food and giving people just little nuggets that they can digest. I think that's our biggest role here, is not to overwhelm, but to be kind of like the lighthouses. You know, hey, these are the rocks. You know, don't go this direction, go the other direction. And from a practitioner point of view, I'm also thinking, how am I investing in my own skills? So over the last two years, I've learned, I've been studying marketing, I've been learning how to do sales, getting comfortable working online. Maybe it's just my age and where I worked before, I'm more comfortable with zoom. How do we get people to use the tools like loom to share? You know, I've been creating treatment plans via loom in lieu of in person meetings so I can record someone's lab interpretations, talk about their treatment Plan my rationale behind it, and they can watch it over and over again and be able to actually digest information. So I'm really trying to put myself in the shoes of who is following and who is listening and trying to meet people where they are. I think the curse of knowledge is it's so easy to get worked up in which herb is best for this and that and the tactics. But people that we are serving have, are not quite at, you know, haven't been studying this stuff for 10, 20, 30 years. So how do we really meet people where they are is what I'm thinking of and make it digestible and actionable. So that's my perspective.
Okay. I love it. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Dr. Satip. Dr. Satipinning is a chiropractor, acupuncturist, functional medicine practitioner in the Kitchener Waterloo area. I'd love to hear your insights, my friend. I'm gonna unmute you. There you go.
Hey, everyone, first of all, thanks for all these wonderful insights that we're hearing today. There's so much that I've learned in the last, you know, this. We've only been on this for 40 minutes and picked up a lot of gems and things to consider where we are. So I'm only about, what, 40 minutes from where Sachin's office is. And as a chiropractor, we're getting emails and things that are, you know, they're watching your social media to make sure you're not saying the wrong things. And you start to realize you don't have a lot of freedom as a practitioner. Everything is, you know, they don't want you to have a voice independent of what the general consensus is, which can be kind of problematic. So my approach has just been to recognize that our patient population has the exact same fears we do. And so with doing functional medicine, our most valuable asset is to teach people how to get out of their own problems by teaching them strategies, maybe more than even supplements, that will undo the lifestyle problems they already have. So I think the biggest thing is to just share your everyday life with people. Share, you know, the things that matter the most, and try to switch people from a place of fear to a place of positivity because they are blessed with several things. Like, I know with me, I got a lot of extra time with my kids, and I just. That's my happiest place. So I just earned well, I just got a whole bunch of extra hours to be with them. But also, we can still share those moments because the people who are watching. Guess what? They're the ones that resonate with what you're doing anyways. And so we can nurture those people and build, like we said, build that list. Because when this goes away, I think what might come of this is some people, at least the ones that you're nurturing, are going to start to say, hey, at some point I need to make myself healthy. And this is all maybe showing them that I can't wait for the next 20 years to do that. I got to start now. And they're going to start looking for who they trust. And it should be one of us. It should be the people in your community that are looking to you. So I think that bringing that sense of calmness is probably the best gift we can give right now. And that's kind of the strategy I'm using. My physical practice is pretty much shut down. We're only allowed to see emergency patients. So I have probably have one person coming in and then everything else I'm just switched to virtual. So all my consultations will be done online, which is also, you know, timing. With perfect practice. It seems like everything's pushing us in the direction that we should kind of evolve. But yeah, I think for me the biggest thing is to look at this as a way to nurture people. I've always complained that I don't have the time to do it and now I do. So I'm just going to focus on keeping people calm.
I love that. Now, speaking of people being calm, you've got three young daughters. So, you know, one is too young to understand what's going on, but the other two are active in gymnastics and piano and stuff like that. So I would imagine some of those things they're not doing anymore. How have you communicated this to them?
So what we. So they're in many things, like dance, piano. Actually, we got an email that her piano teacher is going to do it through Zoom. So they're going to do that virtually. So they're adapting, everyone's adapting. The way we're trying to dance is completely shut off. All their competitions would start up in April and May. Everything's cancelled as of now. But what they're actually really grateful for too is that they're getting to spend more time with us. And so I try to take the fear away from them. As in, look, you every day are trying to build your health. We don't have high carbohydrate diets. They eat whole foods, they're eating more plant based. They don't get a lot of Garbage. They probably don't get any garbage in their diet. So the things that they're doing, we just added little bits and pieces to make sure that they are confident in themselves. I just try to teach them that your body has the ability to heal. We need to nurture it now more than ever. So sleep is really important. Mindset is really important. So a lot of meditation. My middle daughter loves to do yoga and it's so easy because all we do is put out a flashcard. She'll go into a position and focus on her breathing. And we just try to keep them calm the same way we would to anyone else. It's actually easier with children because they get the concepts, whereas with adults they have all their built in no to everything. Like, I can't do that because I can't do that because, well, when you tell a child, they just, oh, okay, you want me to do that, I'll do it. No questions. And so it's actually easier with them.
Yes. Interesting times. You know, I never, never thought we'd be homeschooling Devin. And you can, you can see Deep Van Devan in the background. We've been playing board games. We've been trying to squeeze as much time in together. Here he is. Hey, say hi to everyone. Hey, Devin. You know, for me, every day feels like Saturday right now because I work from home already and the fact that Devin's home makes it feel like a weekend. And, you know, it's hard because I still have a pretty full schedule being an online coach. And we also, as many of you know, have our upcoming event, which we change from an in person event to a live event. And you know, so we're, we're still in the midst of planning that. So there's still a lot on my plate in order to do and I still have a full book of consults that I'm doing. And this is a time where a lot of people need more certainty and they need to be able to lean on their community. So I wanted to thank everyone. Is there anything that somebody wants to add to this conversation? And if there's any questions that you have, you can certainly put them into the Q and A and we'll be happy to answer them. We've got about 13 minutes left. If you found this helpful, then we love your feedback. We want to make sure that you're getting value out of this conversation. I'm sure this isn't the first of many town halls that we'll do like this. And, you know, our goal is to keep you posted and make sure that everyone's got a solid plan as they're going through this journey. Does anyone have anything they wanted to add? Okay, so I'm going to go next then. One of the things that we did in light of everything that's happening is we took our event, which was originally scheduled to be in person, and we've decided to make it online. We've postponed the live event so that people can. People can still come for the live event as they had paid for and as they anticipated. There's nothing quite like a live event. I know Dr. Bob hosts live events. Dr. Peter hosts live events, and there's nothing quite like them. So we did the next best thing. We kept the schedule the same same weekend. And what we did instead is we decided to make the event free for everybody. So this allows us to help even more practitioners get their message out there. It allows our speakers to get more of their message out there, which the world needs to hear now more than ever. And we've made the event totally free. So it's pushed us, I wouldn't say out of our comfort zone, but it's pushing us to serve more right now and to be of value even more to our community. And I want to honor all of you for being part of it. I'm going to share a link here where you can register for that. Like I said, it's totally free. If you want a copy of the transcripts, then it's only $97. And if you want a ticket to the event, then you'll get the early bird pricing. So let me share that screen really quick and you can see exactly what we're talking about. So perfect practice is being hosted April 3rd to 5th, and it's an online experience now. We sold out the event, and, you know, it was a big accomplishment for us, and we had some amazing speakers. Dr. Bob, Dr. Osborne, we're going to be speakers there. So I want to thank them for being here today. What you can do is you can click on this and get your free pass should you decide to do the Silver program, Gold program, or diamond program. You're going to get exceptional value whatever you choose. But I would say, at a minimum, get the complimentary. So you'll just enter your name and email address, you'll get registered, you'll start getting emails and additional details on the event, and you'll be able to tune in and be able to join us live. So this is our gift to you. This is part of our way of serving our functional medicine community and adding Value and enabling all of you to shift your focus to generating more online revenue and income. And the title of the event, ironically, was beyond the Brick and Mortar. So the universe called our, called our bluff and said, well, you want this beyond the brick and mortar? I'm going to make sure it's beyond the brick and mortar. So very timely. And I want to make sure that all of you have the ability to join us and be able to learn this information. If you found this hour valuable, you can only imagine what a weekend would be like with many of these people. The focus of the event is to get people to understand the transition and the tools and resources that are required to shift their businesses online. Certainly there's never been a better time. There's never been a bigger kick in the butt than right now. And we want to do whatever it takes to make sure that all of you have access to this. So if you go to perfectpracticelive.com you'll just register, get your free pass or get the recordings if you want them. We're going to send you the transcripts, the slides and then also the notes. We have a professional note taker that's going to be taking notes for you. I don't expect all of you to be able to sit there in front of your computer for three straight days. We will share the schedule, so you'll be able to, you know, select specific talks if you want to choose those. But every speaker is going to be epic. So, yeah, we're going out of our comfort zone. Hopefully this is more in your comfort zone to join us online and to be able to register and be a participant in this. So, yeah, I'm happy that many of you have already started registering. I can see them coming in. Thank you for that. I'm going to turn this off and stop sharing my screen here. And I wanted to see. Does anyone have any closing questions before we wrap things up? Any statements that people want to make? I heard a yes. Who was that? Was that right, Kat? Lorraine. Lorraine. Lorraine. Sorry, Lorraine. Anything you want to say?
Well, I just want to let people know that I've been running a global health service for over 20 years and I still just use the phone. You know, I've signed up for some of the other things, but for some reason, the bandwidth. Yeah, my husband's screen went dark yesterday. Last night I did a webinar and I kept getting flashing lights saying, your Internet connection is unstable. So just don't be afraid to use the phone. It works. I mean, I prefer doing a video conference with people. But I've been doing phone consults with people for a very long time and most of my consults right now are phone. And there are some people that are willing to come in. We just practice very social distancing. I don't put my hands on people when new patients come in, you know, I say that, you know, usually you'll get a hug or handshake, but we're.
Not doing that now.
And we all laugh about it and then, you know, we sit pretty far apart and, you know, yes, my business has been hit, but not as badly as I thought it would be.
Okay, thanks for sharing. There was one little pro tip I wanted to give you guys. Zoom, if you can, it's better to record to your computer instead of recording to the cloud. They've had some issues in terms of processing recordings. They've also. I don't know if this is coincidental or not, but Facebook has upgraded or updated their livestream program and I don't think Zoom has necessarily built the plugins properly. So when you try to go from Zoom to live stream on Facebook, it seems to be glitching for some reason. I don't know if anyone else has experienced that, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that you can switch to recording your webinars or your meetings and switch them from the cloud to your computer just until things clear up. Because I know that they're experiencing a huge increase in bandwidth. Jen Simmons was saying that her house cleaner is going to be working through Zoom. So it seems like everyone, maybe Zoom calls, causes whole Covid thing. Who knows? How's that for a conspiracy? So anyways, I thank you all especially for joining on such notice. Thank you for all of us, to all of our speakers, for sharing your insights and being a beacon of hope and light for all of us. I appreciate you. And if you have any questions, guys, about our upcoming event, or if you have any questions that you want to email me privately, then I'm always here to help. It's sachincomeproof.com and blessings to all of you. Have an amazing, amazing rest of your day. And again, if you go to perfectpracticelive.com, you'll be able to register and hear some of these amazing speakers, you know, for free. It's our way. It's our way of giving. It's their way of giving and getting this message out there. Because I think we all need to shift our focus and prepare for something like this in the future. We just never know what's going to happen? And so having an online business is, I would say, more relevant now than ever before. Okay, bye, everyone. Have an amazing rest of your day. Enjoy your time with your families and everything you've been praying for. The time to read that book, to write that book, to spend more time in nature. It's all presenting itself. You know, sometimes I said this yesterday and people freaked out. You know, the universe gives us, always, always gives us what we need, not what we want. Nobody wants this, but it's given many of us what we need. It's given the public what they need, a kick in the butt to really focus on their health. It's given us practitioners a kick in the butt to focus on our online presence and to be of service to humanity. It's given functional medicine an opportunity to essentially create a tidal wave of patients coming our way. Because right now, I know we can't say certain things, but we actually have answers that a lot of people don't. You know, the current strategy from the public health system is just to stay home. That's all they're saying. Like, you know, and I posted about this, that that's not a health strategy. Like, staying at home is not going to make you healthy. It. It's going to be getting outside. It's going to be connecting with your family, doing your meditation practice, journaling. Like, there's so many things that you can do while you at home. You know, it's not an opportunity to just watch Netflix over and over again, but it's an opportunity for us to heal very deeply. And I want you to get that message out to your clients. Some people aren't going to like that message. You know, I was called an elitist because I told people that this is a time for them to reflect on their job. You know, if you've been working somewhere for 30 years and you're in a financial position where you can't last two weeks without working, then something needs to change, right? And it wasn't calling them out, but it was just being real. Like, this is a time for all of us to reflect and, you know, really reevaluate where we spend our time, where we spend our focus, who we spend our time with. And, you know, that's, you know, it's not always well received by people. Sometimes the truth hurts, but, you know, I'm a messenger of that truth, and I hope it reaches the right people, and I hope your messages reach the right people, because people are paying attention right now. They're paying attention to who's being of service, who's leading gave you guys a couple suggestions. One is if you've got online groups and communities, then this is a great time to invite people. Even if it's a trial membership, you can do that. We had a $97 course called the Doctor of the Future. We made that available to everyone for 97 cents. And you know, that course was just sitting there. We weren't doing anything with it. It's packed with powerful information and very relevant information. But, you know, this was our chance to get it in front of people and people have been very, you know, positively responding to that gesture. So if you've got something like that, something that you can add that's of value to people, then this is your chance to make it available to them and be of service. So thank you, everyone. Hope you have an amazing day and I love you all and let's keep supporting and nursing each other so that we can all get through this together. Okay, bye for now.
