Engineers are stacking holographic projectors to recreate entire rooms and pairing them with ultrasound haptic feedback so virtual objects feel solid. Consumer holodecks could arrive in theme parks and theaters around 2029-2030, then in wealthy homes.

The holodeck is being built. We can make holograms already. They figured out how to stack holographic projectors. They can now kind of project an old room. They're projecting ultrasound, the same thing they use to look at pregnant women inside their bellies. You can project ultrasound and create heft. So objects, they don't feel solid, but they feel like something. We think the first holodecks are gonna start showing up at places like Disney World and special theaters and maybe really, really wealthy people's homes by like 2029, 2030.
