Foreign welcome back to campus to corporate transformation video number seven. This is Sakshi Sundaraka, your career branding coach and image enhancer. This is a very important topic of having understanding of the word employment and employability. Are they same or different? If it is different than what it is while in campus, students usually have a very vague idea about these two terms, employment and employability, more or less. The understanding is that you have to get good grades, appear in the interview, clear the interviews and get a job. Okay? Congratulations. Now you have a job, you are employed, so employment is getting a job. Okay? So your employment problem is solved once you have a job. Now once you get in the job here in the corporate, your employability skills are going to be tested. What are these? Getting a job is not very tough honestly if you have right skills. So employability skills, if we understand it is a mix of lot of things, mix of different kinds of skills, attributes and attitudes. So I'll give you an example. Once you get a job, suppose you are a software engineer and you are employed or hired as a team lead. Okay? You have to lead a team. So what are the basic skills that are expected of you? You think that your academic score has been amazing and you have been hired on the basis of that, your talent, your core hard skill, okay? So you are great in your work. However, when it comes to, you know, managing the team, you are not very good in that, okay? Also because team, you are a team lead. That means you have to lead the team. That means you have to have good communication, you have to have team building skills, you have to have leadership skills. These skills are going to help you retain that job and succeed in that job, okay? So that nobody else comes and replace you. So basically employability skills help you become irreplaceable. Otherwise you will be thrown out, somebody else will take your place. Okay? So employment is finding a job and employability is having the skills to sustain and perform good in that particular job. Correct? So these employability skills are also called transferable skills or soft skills like problem solving, creativity, adaptability, many more as I mentioned, team building, communication, all that, okay? The understanding, having the understanding of this at this level when you are in campus it is so important so that you can, you know, actually build upon these skills and finally perform great here so that you know that I have these skills and I can sustain this job, I can perform better in this job. That is it about these two words. Go ahead and share, share, share this in your network, help all your friends and whose knowledge I will see you around in the next video. Thank you so much.
