This is a YouTube video titled "Campus to Corporate Transition - The challenge of Google Syndrome" created in March 2020. The video features a single speaker discussing the concept of "Google syndrome," a tendency among students to rely heavily on Google for answers rather than developing problem-solving and analytical skills. The speaker emphasizes the importance of independent thinking and problem-solving for success in the corporate world and encourages students to overcome this dependency before entering the workforce.
Hello, welcome to campus to corporate transformation video number three. Today we are going to talk about something really very interesting. This is called Google syndrome. What is Google syndrome? So this is basically found in college campuses. So usually students these days have the syndrome of, you know, going to Google and finding out answers. This they do not want to try out everything on their own. No problem solving skills are developed because they depend too much on Google. And they also say why do we have to learn when everything is there on Internet? I understand you are digital people. You are way ahead of all of us. Okay? We are the oldies. But please try and understand that this Google approach is not going to work in the corporates. Number one, because corporates are paying you to do the problem solving, okay? You have been hired to solve a particular problem. You cannot go to Google to ask for every solution. Had Google had all the solutions, why would have people kept you? Why would have people hired you in the first place, right? So if you do not develop these kind of skills, rational thinking or analytical skills, problem solving and even emotional thinking, you will not be able to sustain or survive in the corporate world. Okay? So the better you leave this Google syndrome here in the campus itself and not depend on it. Rather solve the problems, whatever you are facing on your own, you will develop these skills better and be better prepared for the campus, for the corporate. Sorry, please make sure that you do not depend too much on Google. Okay? I will see you with another difference in the culture or the corporate and campus world in the next video. Please remember this video is also available in Hindi and go ahead and share it in your network and help all the students learn these differences. Thank you so much and I'll see you in the next video. Bye.
