Campus to Corporate Transition - Why it is important

This is a YouTube video titled "Campus to Corporate Transition - Why it is important" created in March 2020. The content features Sakshi Chandraakar speaking about the challenges fresh graduates face when transitioning from campus life to corporate jobs. She uses the metaphor of blind dates to describe the job market and emphasizes the importance of industry readiness, career branding, and the need for proper guidance for new job seekers. Sakshi also mentions creating supportive resources like videos in English and Hindi and a private Facebook group for fresh job seekers to discuss career-related issues.
One out of every four graduates leaves his or her job. The first job, okay, in the first 12 months itself. Does this surprise you, shock you or disappoint you? But honestly, I do not know how I should be feeling about it. Because these people, these intelligent people are like so brave. They love the idea of blind dates. Yeah. So they get into these blind dates with these employers. Not just that they are such big risk takers that they commit also, you know, they commit themselves to this relationship, a long term relationship, which usually is not more than three years though. But yes, they do that.
Okay?
Now this employer is also very smart. He also is looking for a lot of love from lot of people, okay? So he also keeps on dating different kind of people.
Okay?
So flash forward one year. After one year, suppose this employer has dated four people, okay? One out of these four people finds real true love in this employer. One would find a heartbreak, okay? Would break up with this employer, would get into, you know, low confidence, low self esteem, depression or whatnot, okay? And these other two people who are left, they are still figuring out how should they be feeling about this relationship. Should they stick to this employer or should they leave? Okay, we can laugh it off, I tell you what. So this, this blind date concept might sound little funny or silly to you, but this exactly is what is happening. Because graduates are not trying to find out who is the right match, you know, what kind of a job they fit into, what, what would be the work culture over there? What would be the responsibilities they would handle? Do they match with the skill set? You know, does the job description really match with the skills and talents that they have? So that is why I have used this metaphor of going into blind dates. Okay, we can laugh it off, of course. However, I find this problem really serious. It is a challenging problem. But I still feel that, you know, once we get to the root of the problem, we can definite figure out the right solution. Because the roots is what that gives out the fruits. Namaskar. This is Sakshi Chandrakar. I am a career branding coach, a people skills coach and an image enhancer. I am very, very passionate about helping the youth, especially the new job seekers who are entering the workforce, to find their right career path, to solve their problems of, you know, career decisions and all that. And especially to help them build their strong career brands.
Okay?
What I in my opinion, the root of this problem lies in the transformation process. The campus to corporate transformation process. What is available in the market is in the name of campus to corporate, is resume writing, interview skills and to an extent, personality development. I believe all these three things are of utmost importance. Yeah. Because every three to four years you are going to change your jobs and you need to build on these skills, you know, all these resume and interview and all these skills. But is this, is, is this it? Because these are the skills that will help you only till the entry level. But what about your, you know, your survival in corporates? What about your success in the corporate world? What are the skills that you need to know about, you know, what are the skills you need to really develop?
Okay.
Because what I believe is that you know, all these grad ways a fresh, you know, the fresh job seekers who do not have any idea about what kind of jobs they are getting into, what, what is the kind of world they really need direction. They need the right guidance.
Okay.
So that they can get into a job, survive that job and of course succeed in that job. Yeah. Because the choice of the first job is perhaps the most important decision that you are going to make.
Okay?
This is going to set the pace of how you are going to survive, succeed, you know, enjoy the whole process of working.
Okay?
So I'm going to make an attempt to give a little insight and perspective about what exactly are these two worlds, okay? How should you be prepared, you know, mentally, physically, endlessly that lee for this particular world, okay. What are the nuances that you should be knowing about so that you are better prepared, okay. Because industry readiness is of utmost importance.
Okay?
So in this attempt I am trying to create some short videos to give you more in depth information about these two worlds. And I'm also going to create two things important. I am going to create the same video in English or Hindi also.
Okay?
So whatever plot platform you are right now watching this in, you will also find a Hindi video attached to it. Please go ahead and share it in your network and let all these job seekers and you know, graduates know about these things because these are going to be like really very valuable, informative pieces that I'm going to be sharing with you all. The other important thing is that I'm going to create, I have in fact created a small FB group.
Okay?
This is a private FB group only for the fresh job seekers, okay? If you are studying in your college, you are preparing for your placements or if you are looking for job, you are already done with your education and you are trying to enter the job workforce. So you can send a request to me to join that group. Important thing is that this is a no nonsense group, okay? This is going to be a simple, plain discussion only about the problems, the challenges that you know, all those queries that you have about your career choices, career paths, problems that you are facing and issues that you have. Everything is going to be only career related.
Okay?
I'm going to be sharing a lot of information, tips and tricks and techniques about a lot of things. So I welcome you all to join me with that group. But yes, you have to mention with one or two sentences, why would you like to join this group? Because as I mentioned, there is no fluff, this is no nonsense group. So I just want only serious, serious people joining in me joining me in this group.
Okay?
So that is it guys. We are going to start the first video with culture, corporate culture. We'll understand what is the culture here in campus and corporate and what is the difference and how can we bridge that?
Okay?
So looking forward to seeing you all in what on whatever platforms you are watching me. Please comment, ask questions, ask, you know, mention your queries. I am definitely going to help you with as much as I can, you know, with all the queries. I. I will try my best. Okay, so that is it. I will catch you soon. Thank you so much for watching this video. Thank you.
