Sam Thomason demonstrates the Takamatsu J Wave Plus CNC turning machine, a compact 3.5-foot-square lathe made in Japan with an MIT 80 control system. The gang-plate design moves the X/A axis while the spindle travels the Z axis, optimized for hard turning and surface finishes. It includes integrated air and coolant delivery at the chuck and can be configured with a gantry loader.

Okay, I want to show you the Takamatsu J Wave plus machine. I really like this machine. It's very, very compact. Look at this. It's probably about 3 1/2ft square, but it's very, very rigid machine. And of course all Takamatsu machines are made in Japan. The J Wave uses the mits controls, the MITs 80 control and it's a gang plate machine. So come with me. I want to show you this very rigid gang plate. You'll notice the gang plate moves in the X A axis and then the spindle moves in the Z. So it's a built in motor spindle. So if you're doing any parts that have, if you're doing hard turning and you've got to get really good surface finish, the built in motor spindles are great for that. And I also want to show you the how wide the stance is of the carriage for the spindle. So it's not just a little cartridge that's extending, it's the whole carriage of the, of the machine that is actually moving forward, back and forward. You can see we've got air at the chuck and also cooling at the chuck as well. Can get it with high pressure coolant. Maybe walk around the back of the machine a little bit just to show you the back side. But you can see again it's really, really compact machine. And again we sell this machine, we sell this machine also as gantry loader style for slugs as well. So anyway, this is the J Wave.
