In this product demonstration Sam Thomason introduces the Blue Star Parion, the world’s only ultrasonic deburring machine, and explains its operation and applications. The machine uses a chilled (≈5 °C) water bath from a chill unit, combined with a vacuum pump that removes air to create a dense liquid medium. A diaphragm at the base generates high‑intensity ultrasonic waves that cause cavitation—tiny vacuum bubbles that collapse violently, pulling material away from burrs without damaging surrounding surfaces. Thomason shows the cavitation effect on a can and describes how it selectively removes burrs, especially small, delicate ones such as cross‑pole, feather, and leaf burrs. The system offers multiple part‑handling options: large trays that can be raised/lowered, and a tumbler device for many small parts, allowing simultaneous processing of dozens of components. Safety features include a locked lid with interlock. The machine integrates with filtration (20 µm strainer, activated charcoal) and can be linked to ultrasonic cleaning and drying stations for a fully automated workflow. Thomason also presents performance data (material type, removal time) provided by Speaker B, demonstrating rapid deburring of zinc, aluminum, iron, watch parts, and leaf burrs—often within 1–5 minutes for 50–100 pieces. The presentation ends with an invitation for viewers to submit sample parts for testing and to discuss custom fixtures or automation solutions.

Hi, everyone. We'd like to show you an amazing new way to deburr your parts. So this is the Blue Star Parion. It's the world's only ultrasonic deburring machine. So, yes, you heard that, right, this is not a cleaning machine, it's a deburring machine. Now, I'm going to explain how this machine works. So first let's have a look at this chill unit. What we're doing here is we are reducing the temperature of the water down to about 40 degrees Fahrenheit, or 5 degrees Celsius. Underneath here, we have a vacuum pump that sucks all of the air out of the water and it gives us a very dense body of water to work with. Now, the reason we want a really dense body of water is we have a diaphragm at the base of this machine that generates an incredibly violent ultrasonic wave. Now, what that wave does is it comes up through the water and it forces open cavities in the water. Cavitation, as they call it. Now, they look like bubbles, but they're actually a vacuum in space. So for a very brief moment, there's a vacuum. And because nature hates a vacuum, those collapse in on themselves and pull everything around them towards themselves. So almost like a lot of mini black holes. So I'll just show you what this looks like by using this can here. So I'm going to turn the machine on and you can see that very violent effect on the water here. Now I'm going to run the cam through and you're going to see that cavitation just attacking the can. But lucky for the cairns, because there's nothing really hanging on with it. It's totally fine. We haven't removed the paint, haven't damaged it at all. But if there are burrs here, then that cavitation is going to pick away at that, as you can see here in these images. So whilst this is a fantastic machine for deburring, it's not a silver bullet, it's particularly good at small birds. So anything around, a lot of fusel, sometimes a little bit bigger, a little bit less, but particularly very annoying birds. So cross pole birds, hang burrs, feather burs, all manners of burrs. Please just send us a picture of what you've got. We can have a look and then send us some parts. We'll run a sample. There are many ways we can run these. I'll just stop for a moment so we can hear. We have a series of trays that can be used, so sometimes we'll Use this big one just goes into the tank. We have a system that raises and lowers the tray. And then particularly for smaller parts, where you'd like to expose every area of the part to the ultrasonic waves. We have this tumbler device here and this particular machine can fit three of these at a time. So if you can imagine, if you have a lot of small parts with Swiss parts, those sorts of things, we can fit a heck of a lot of parts in here and it will deburr them all in one go. So that is the Bluestar. Parion and Bluestar make a lot of other machines as well. By the way, we have a lid here. Usually we run this with the lid closed with an interlock so that it's safe for the show. Though we have disabled access. You can see inside this machine. This is a very standard size. We can make them larger, smaller, we can make fixtures. Now they also make cleaning machines. So we can actually automate moving them from an ultrasonic cleaning device into the debur device and then into a drying device thereafter. So we can automate the whole lot for you. Now going to a bit more detail. This all goes through a series of filters. So we have the strainer. This is typically where most of the burrs end up. We have a 20 micron filter here and then an activated charcoal filter. Well, this is what we use for water based deburring. We also have the option if you would like to use say a high viscosity anti rust solution, something like that. We can use this degassing tower instead. But today here at the show we're using the pure water version. And again, this is all just water. Lake Michigan a few days ago. So please reach out, let us know if you have parts you'd like to have deburred. You can send us some samples and we'll give them a go. Thank you very much.
We'll show you an item which our customer brought to us. A lot of items are pre release or a trial product so we are not allowed to show them. This material is zinc die cast and bars are removed in 10 minutes. 50 to 100 pieces could be reprocessed at the same time by using suitable tool. This material is aluminum die cast. Bars could be removed in 5 minutes and moreover its surface is cleaned. This is also aluminum die cast. The item had big bars but they could be removed perfectly. This material is iron. Usually this kind of burrs are hard to remove, but it took only for two minutes for debarring by our ultrasonic machine. This is a watch part again it took only for two minutes to remove bars. We got the permission to show this item by the customer. Ultrasonic machine is very effective to remove hole crossed bars. If you have any debarring problems, please contact us. This is leaf burrs. Some customers told removing leaf burrs are very difficult. If they remove leaf burrs leaf on the product also tear. Ultrasonic debarring machine can remove only unnecessary parts and very effective for leaf debarring. A lot of customers have the problem of blind hole or chip clogging debarring Ultrasonic deburring machine is effective for these problems. For leave scales burrs could be removed in one minute. This work which is marked green in the whole image is bar parts. Almost all area bar has been occurred. It needs lots of work time and concentration power to clean these bar by hand. Ultrasonic debarring system can remove bar in one minute such as this image. Let's see other parts like us irregularities, parts or holes which are not easy to remove by hand. We think our ultrasonic debarring system have power can be exhibited.
