Hey y'all, it's Sarah Spencer and I have some new music for you. This is a song in drop D. It's in drop D. Oh my god, I'm so impressed with myself. And it's called "I Don't Love You Anymore." I hope you dig it.
Sometimes I admit, I admit I do, I have a little thought, little think of you, though I don't love you anymore. I don't love you anymore. Yeah, I wonder quietly where you went when you left me though.
I don't love you anymore. I don't love you anymore.
Friends still meet at our café though I don't go there much these days 'cause I don't love you anymore.
I don't love you anymore.
Anymore.
They gave the chapel a new coat of white, though I rarely step inside, 'cause I don't love you anymore. I don't love you anymore. Oh, every brick and every stone is soaked in the memory before you were gone, and I can almost hear what you're saying. I hate hanging on. I'm a new Am I kidding? What life am I living when I tell myself that I don't love you anymore?
Slowly, yeah, I realize that every day the sun still rises.
I don't love you anymore.
I don't love you anymore. Faith in love has left me in the dust, in my rain, but I won't rest 'cause I don't love you anymore.
No, I don't I don't love you anymore. Oh, every broken, every stone is soaked in the memory of before you were gone. And I can almost get to saying I ain't hanging on. I mean, who am I kidding? What life am I living when I tell myself that I don't love you anymore?
Oh, sometimes I admit, admit I do, I have a little thought, little think of you. Though I don't love you anymore, I don't love you, I don't love you.
Anymore.
I played my guitar out of tune there at the very end. Knocked that bottom string out of tune because I'm like trying so hard. But yeah, so that was a song called "I Don't Love You Anymore." Thank you for listening. I hope you liked it. Let's get this camera to stop shaking before I continue. Like I usually do at the end of these videos, I like to tell you a little bit about where that song came from, where the idea came from, how it started being written. I find that stuff interesting and I hope you do too. If it's totally uninteresting, just tell me, like let me know in the comments and I'll stop going off on these rants. But I really just like talking about songwriting, so I use every opportunity to talk about songwriting. This song came from— this song actually really started with a concept. Most of the time when I write, I start with a title or a general concept for the song, and the concept was "I don't love you anymore." That's what I keep telling myself. It's not a true story or anything like that, it's just a story for the sake of telling a story in a song. But basically, The singer is like, "Yeah, you know, I had this relationship with this person and I practically married him. We had all the same friends. And then he dumped me. He left. And I keep telling myself every day that I don't love him anymore." And through the progression of the song, like in the first verse, she's telling herself, "Every now and then I think about you, but I don't love you." You know, "I wonder where you are right now, but I don't love you." "Y'know, I heard they re-updated the chapel, but I don't really go inside anymore because I don't love you." And then around the second verse she starts to realize that she starts to heal. And in kind of telling herself over and over again, "I don't love you anymore, I don't love you anymore, I don't love you anymore," she starts to heal and starts to believe herself when she says that. Y'know, like, "Yeah, I don't need you. It might rain, but I won't rust. I don't love you anymore." That's kind of where the song came from. From, and I actually started writing it from that very first line and tuned my guitar down to drop D because I don't really do it that often. I was like, "I'm gonna write in a different tuning because all my songs are starting to sound the same." So I wrote it in drop D, and that's how it turned out. So thanks for listening! I release new music on my Patreon page. It's patreon.com/sarahspencer.
