In this debut vlog, Nashville‑based singer‑songwriter and SongFancy.com editor Sarah Spencer introduces herself, explains why she bought a new camera, and shares her motivation to start a video series that showcases her music, songwriting stories, and the vibrant Nashville scene. She candidly discusses the anxiety of putting herself on camera as an introvert, outlines the concept of vlogging as an extension of songwriting, and describes the atmosphere of CMA Fest—a week‑long country music celebration that shuts down Lower Broadway with live performances, bars, and a festive crowd. Sarah documents her visit to Belcourt Taps to film her 17‑year‑old co‑writer and friend Lauren Raybon’s performance of songs they wrote together, noting the lack of a concrete plan, concerns about filming strangers, and her excitement for the event. The vlog blends personal reflection, behind‑the‑scenes footage, and a brief clip of the live performance, setting the stage for future music‑focused video content.

And we're live. What's up everybody? I need some lemon water. This is a great shot of my five head. Look at the highlight on that five head. Oh girl, girl, this is not good lighting. Anyway, hi. Hello from my kitchen table. My name is Sarah Spencer. I'm a singer-songwriter. I live, play, write, work, etc., in Nashville, Tennessee. And I'm also the main voice and editor of SongFancy.com. And this is a vlog. So I make music. Hi, surprise. And I got this camera because I really wanted to start sharing more music online and sharing videos and performing and playing and showing you guys songs and telling you about the stories behind them. I've done a little bit of that in the past, but I was never really happy with the quality of what I could do. I mean, I was kind of limited to my little webcam it, just plug it into my laptop and that's it. I couldn't take it anywhere with me. But then I got this camera and a world of opportunity has opened up. So, so I figured, you know, Nashville's a really cool place. There's so much music here and I have a lot of really talented friends. And quite honestly, I have some things to say. So I decided, you know, why the heck not try a vlog? It's kind of scary to say that because Vlogging means putting your thoughts and ideas and opinions out there on the world, or on the internet for the world to see, which is terrifying. But it's the same thing with music. It's the same thing with songwriting. Anytime you write a song and you share it, you're putting all that out there for everybody to see. So YOLO. So I'm gonna try this vlogging thing. We'll see how it goes. It could be terribly unfunny, not entertaining. I'm not really an entertaining person. I am a textbook card-carrying introvert. I'm not that friendly, so I don't know, we'll see how this goes. But anyway, all that aside, so a couple weeks ago was CMA Fest here in town. For anybody who doesn't know, CMA Fest is a big week-long festival in Nashville where they close off Lower Broadway, they have bands everywhere on every corner, there's bars, there's people drunk walking around town in their boots and their Daisy Dukes, and everybody just has like a really good honky-tonky time. So one of my girlfriends and my co-writer Lauren Raybon had a show during CMA Fest week, and I took my camera along and took some video and footage and stuff so you can see her. Keep in mind, y'all, first vlog here. I had no idea what I was doing when I walked along. Like, when I walked over to Belcourt Taps, which is where the show was, I was like, I don't know what I'm doing, but I'm walking in here with the camera and I'm probably gonna film people who may or may not be okay with me filming them. I don't know. Vlogging is weird, y'all. I imagine in places like LA it's probably a lot more normal to see people walking around with cameras, like, talking to themselves and, like, filming things. But in Nashville, like, you just don't see people doing that, I felt a little self-conscious. But, uh, yeah, so I guess be nice, first vlog. I didn't have a plan, I just knew I wanted to film Lauren and film the song that we wrote and just kind of show you guys a little bit of what I do here in town. So anyway, without further ado, I'm not gonna ramble anymore. Here's Lauren, here is the CMA Fest vlog. We're on face tracking? Yes, we are. Okay. Hey, what's up? Haha. So it's CMA Fest 2018 and it is Saturday evening, early evening, and I'm getting ready to get in the shower and do something about this and go see my friend Lauren Raybun play music. She's playing some songs that we wrote, maybe a song, maybe two songs, I don't know. Lauren's awesome. I love this girl. She's like 17 years old and writes songs way better than I ever did at 17, or most people that I know who are 17. Like, she's phenomenal, and I just love her to pieces, and she's performing tonight. I'm so proud of her, and it's like CMA Fest week, and she's awesome. So my husband and I are going out to support her, and yeah, that's it. Time to go do something with all this. Bye! Um, but it's so fun and I love it and it's called "Dunk." Saw him on the boardwalk in his cheap sunglasses. As mid in the world stopped, yeah, it was so romantic. Thank you guys.
