Ryan teaches the dumbbell and barbell push press, a strict press powered by leg drive. Lower your hips with knees out, then drive through your hips, knees, and ankles to push the weight overhead. Return to a strong shoulder rack position.

Today we're going over the dumbbell and barbell push press. We've done the strict press of both. Now it's time to add a little bit of leg pressure. So the most important focus is our hips. When we load for our push press, our hips don't come back, they come down and knees out. So when we drive through the floor, we hit that triple extension, extending the hips, knees, and driving through our shoulders. We use as much of our body as possible. When you come back down, straight back into that original position. So again, hips down, knees out, dip and drive, and then return to that starting position. What it looks like, again, the front rack position for each is the same. Dip, drive, and return. From the side. Alright, so that was the dumbbell push press. Again, same front rack. And we're gonna go into the barbell push press. So still active rack, nice strong shoulder support. My hips come down, my knees out, driving through the floor, triple extension, drive it all the way back. And when we return, head comes back, nice and strong push press, keeping that strong front rack position as well.
