Three ways to handle embarrassing moments: say it out loud to normalize it, treat yourself with compassion instead of harsh self-talk, and find the humor in it. Laughing at yourself makes you more likable and turns the moment into a story instead of a wound.

How to handle embarrassment. Number 1, say what's embarrassing out loud. For example, let's say you trip and fell in a room. Instead of getting up to leave, you're going to say out loud, I just fell. If you call somebody by the wrong name, you're going to say out loud, I just called you by the wrong name. When you say it out loud, you normalize your emotions, which stop the negative emotions from taking over. And number 2, give yourself grace. That means no negative self-talk. I don't want to hear, I'm so dumb, I'm so clumsy, I'm so stupid. When you go into that negative self-talk, the only person it hurts is you. Give yourself permission to be human. Number 3: Find the humor. When you can just sit back and laugh at yourself and show that you don't take yourself all that seriously, it makes you more likable and more relatable to the people around you. And if we're honest, it's our most embarrassing moments that make the best stories. So try that. Follow me.
