A speaker argues that hating aspects of your life is more motivating than gratitude. List ten things you despise—living with your parents, being stuck in a stagnant city—and use that dissatisfaction to fuel action and change.
I think everybody's got fuel. It's just not necessarily the one that is sexy. Some people it's towards, that's awesome. But for a lot of people, it's away. It's like, I hate being here. I hate living at my parents' house. I hate being in the city that nothing's going on. Like right now, if I would ask you, what are 10 things that you hate about your life? Probably you can come up with them pretty fast. But if I asked you 10 things you're grateful for, it takes a lot longer. And so it's like, rather than try and get people to be different than who they are, it's like, find the 10 things you hate the most about your life. Use those as the reasons to start working.
