So, how do you support your gut after menopause? Not with pretending coffee is breakfast and having a large gust of wind for lunch. Start here: eat more plant variety. Different fibers feed different gut bacteria, so aim for variety. Berries, beans, lentils, oats, chia seeds, flax, vegetables, potatoes, apples, avocado. Get enough protein. Not going to beat that dead horse. Walk after meals. Even a short walk can support better blood sugar control, which matters a lot after menopause. Stop chronically undereating. Your gut, hormones, and metabolism do not thrive in anxiety mode. Strength train. Because menopause already makes it easier to lose muscle, and muscle is one of your best tools for improving insulin sensitivity and long-term weight management. A healthier gut will not magically melt menopause belly fat, but it can support the systems that make fat loss easier. So if your fat loss plan is still just eat less, try harder, and hate myself, but your gut is begging for fiber, protein, sleep, and an actual meal, that is a strategy problem. Save this post and pick one gut-supporting upgrade this week. Add a tablespoon of chia or flax, eat a serving of beans or lentils, or take a 10-minute walk after a meal. And follow for all things nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress for women over 40.
